I am not happy with taking drugs while pregnant but I have lost a extrem amount of weight and it has been stressed to me medication and iv fluids are absolutely necessary. So have been taking Ondansetron (Zofran) and another prochlorperazine. I am very scared of what I have heard about these two drugs and my huge question is what medications do you pregnant women out there trust???

Im 17 years old on 9 weeks 3 days pregnant. Obviously my first and wanting to know if anyone had any problems taking this medication?? My mum and I are abit iffy as my cousin was born with a hole in her heart from my aunty taking a nausea medication (many many years ago though). What are your thoughts on medication? Ondansetron is the generic version of Zofran and I asked my consultant the same question and she said no medication can be described as safe in pregnancy as no pregnant women will submit their pregnant bodies to a medical study (understandably!). t take it for my 1st pregnancy I took it and I lost my baby a month later, also my brothers wife was taking it and their daughter was born was heart problems she had to get surgery at 2 weeks old and at 4 months she passed away. She recently passed away on July 24th this is all fairly new. I work in a pharmacy and even the pharmacist lets pregnant patients know that this medication is high risk meds.... I just found out I was pregnant and I wouldn't take it ever again!!!

Ondansetron is Zofran hun. Its just the generic name for zofran. Even though theres a lawsuit, id say its more of a money maker. I took it both pregnancies and my babies came out fine. Youve got to look at whether the benefits outweigh the risk with ANY medication. If youre miserable and need to eat for baby, take it. My advice is try to only take it when u really need it, not on a regular basis. Stop as soon as symptoms ease up. Lots of water too.

I went threw this while taking Cymbalta. The nausea would come out of no where at times. Can you give your Dr a call in the morning to let him/her know about the nausea? Your Dr will let you know what you can safely take with Cymbalta.

Go to the health food store and get you some ginger chews...They work really well,along with the zofran,it should work....

My doctor gave me ondansetron, it saved my life lol! I'm 17 weeks pregnant and I still throw up on the daily but its not as bad as a few weeks ago. The ondansetron has a grape flavor but it does make me gag, what I do is place it under my tongue and then swish with a huge gulp of ice cold water. I noticed that my nausea was worse when I was super hungry but I would be so hungry that I couldn't keep anything down- frustrating!

Obviously everyone has the right to do as they please while pregnant. But just remember we live in a country that runs on money and only money. If women in the 1800s and women in other countries could manage going through pregnancies, labor, and recovery without medications, prenatal care, and doctors then someone could naturally handle nausea without depending on drugs. Well it is causing me to puke, but I need to take it. I also got perscribed 4mg ondansetron which for some odd reason is not helping me with my nausea. Is there anything I can do about this? I just took the hydrocodone-acetaminophen and about puked. Im watching five kids and CANNOT throw up while im watching them.
