Taking lamictal and zoloft together

Common Questions and Answers about Taking lamictal and zoloft together

Avatar m tn Do your own research, but apparently you can take both together. I have taken Wellbutrin and my husband does for bipolar (him) and we did not gain wt. on it. It just did not work for me, so I switched to Lexapro. It helped me in less than a week. I have been on it for several years and actually lost wt. while on it. I was actively trying to lose wt. and had no problems doing it while taking the Lexapro.
Avatar n tn Would taking the two together have a combined effect of causing more memory loss and concentration problems? Would higher doses affect memory and other cognitive functions more than lower doses? Would Lamictal be a better alternative to Depakote for someone with Bipolar I who is having memory and concentration problems when taking Depakote? Any input or insight would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn Lamictal has been a great drug, but in the last month my hair has thinned noticeably and my hairline is receding. I am also taking Zoloft, Wellbutrin, and Invega, so this drug "cocktail" could be the culprit in the hair thinning. In addition, I started a new job four months ago and went through about 2 months of much increased stress, and some people have written to say stress can cause hair loss.
497950 tn?1255867527 I realize this is not a current post but I recently started (8) months ago lamictal and Wellbutrin together and have been losing weight since then .. did your weight loss continue?
Avatar n tn I have now been off of it for a week and taking Wellbutrin. My doctor said I would be fine switching meds and said that the zoloft would be out oft he body when the wellbutrin started to kick in.. which i just read that zoloft has the shortest half life and is out of your body in a couple days. Anway my head feels really weird i assume this is withdrawl.. although i thought it would be alot worse.. I was just wondering how long this will last???
Avatar n tn hello everyone, My question is I being taking lamictal for the past 3 years, and zoloft, and vyvinse both of my dosages were reduce, because I thought I was getting better do to my routine with yoga of every day. I must said that doing yoga olmost every day helps me a lot; It is about 6 months that I don't take any sleeping pills or the vyvinse as well for the last 3 months I am not taking the zoloft only the lamictal.
Avatar f tn I took an SSRI (Zoloft) for about two years until I couldn't stand the anxiety, rapid pulse, internal shakiness and noticable hand tremors I got from it. I wasn't on a high dose either. The doctor told me to stop. I weaned myself off over a period of months, because I was one of those that couldn't just taper off quickly. So, it helped me for a little while, but soon the side effects kicked in and I had to quit.
Avatar n tn ) I started taking mood stabilizer medication (Lamictal) years ago and in my drug days I tried taking Ecstasy...the mood stabilizer kicked in and the E didn't work! I don't know what you are taking but there is a chance your medication will help. Again, quit the opiates, they are very helpful for pain, but taken at any length (even at low dosages of Vicodin...see the addiction forum again...they are basically much harder to get off of than almost anything else.
Avatar n tn But I did switch drugs because I was on Zoloft for a year and a half and gained 30 lbs. and could not, for the life of me, lose any of it. I could eat 700 calories a day and exercise 30 minutes a day and still not lose one pound. Took 4 months after going off of it before I could lose anything. I've been losing weight lately, but I've also been working at it.
Avatar f tn Second, are you still on lithium? Or, did you change to Lamictal and Seroquel and drop lithium entirely? The first time I was on Lamictal I was also taking Topomax. They said that one or the other of those was likely to cause a slight weight LOSS and reduced carbohydrate cravings. But, maybe that was the topomax... I'm pleased to hear you didn't have weight gain on lithium, but sorry that you have experienced it taking other meds. Do you find the Seroquel effective?
Avatar n tn But after the things in my life calmed down i noticed the depression and moodiness were still there and getting worse and worse. I talked to my doctor and she is taking me off the pill - i have been a pill continuous for ten years so she feels my body needs a break. She did tell me that she has had other patients who have experienced extreme depression on Yaz. I am really nervous about going off the pill since i have been on it so long but i am willing to try anything at this point.
Avatar n tn I was prescribed Topamax along with an appetite suppressant (Adipex) for weight loss a bit over a year ago and stopped taking them after two and a half months. I did not lose all of the weight I had wanted to, but most of it. I had gained 55 pounds while on Paxil over the course of two and a half years. By taking a combination of the two medicines, I lost 22 pounds the first month, 10 pounds the second month, and 8 pounds the first half of the third month.
Avatar m tn exactly the same problems with memory and concentration loss as axadent1 describe it. I'm writing from Slovenia, 26 years old and I was taking Zoloft for only 2 months but because of dizziness I stopped taking it. Now its more than 2 months I've been off Zoloft but my cognitive abilities wont come back???!!!! I do exactly dumb things as axadent1 described, very f...scary!
Avatar n tn what are the side effect of taking zoloft and lamictal and xanax together
Avatar f tn After having the twins my body and brain chemicals were different and the meds weren't helping me the way were before the twins so i stopped taking zoloft and swithched to effexor and stayed with the stimulants for the add now I am in the process of adding a mood stabelizer as well and then hopefully i will start getting better my mood swings are the big problem because I am having severe depressive episodes. I am really glad your getting help and that you got a second opinion.
Avatar n tn Have you taken any meds in the past from the list that you gave that have decreased your manic episodes and depression? Lamictal is the only drug that you are currently taking that is supposed to do anything for your mood, if it hasn't in 9 mo, maybe you should switch. Do you have any problems with Xanax? How often and what for are you taking it?
Avatar n tn I am diagnosed with BPD, Panic disorder and Bipolar II disorder and am currently taking Lamictal, Prozac and Lyrica for sleep. I am also taking percocet for the horrible panic episodes that I have because that seems to work as well for me. I think I know why this works for some people. In an article that I read a couple of years ago,(unfortunatly I lost it) they said that the brain produces it's own morphine.
544292 tn?1268886268 Have seen several people have seizures when TAKING tramadol. AND, every tramadol related seizure I saw did not seem related to how high a dose the person was taking; RATHER was in instances where someone markedly INCREASED their dose. I think the confusion is in that seizures are common when withdrawing from sedatives (alcohol, barbiturates, benzodiazapines etc). Rare in opiate withdrawal.
2144876 tn?1341436418 but i cant stop crying and being angry and iam still having seizues, and started me on zoloft, and dont understand iam taking meds for epilepsy than Med for the said Effects ,cuz its making me Depresset? GOD..
480448 tn?1426952138 or was watching the world through a movie projector, instead of through my own eyes and mind. Therefore, I am going to share with you all what *I* know about these phenomena, and hopefully reassure some of you that this is par for the anxiety course...it while irritating, maybe even maddening...it is totally harmless. Derealization and depersonalization are two terms that are sometimes used interchangably. Truth is, they DO vary a little bit in their presentation....
Avatar m tn I am currently on Mestinon, Concerta, Wellbutrin, Zoloft, Lamictal, Gabapentin, and Plaquenil. (I know. That's a lot of psych meds. I am only certain of one that works--the Lamictal, which I have been on for the past two years.) I'm very afraid of people thinking that I'm diagnosing myself. Especially when doctors see the psych meds that I'm on--I'm afraid they will think I'm some sort of self-absorbed hypochondriac. I haven't brought up any of these conditions to them.
Avatar n tn heya, Glad I came across this community, enjoyed reading some of the posts, helpful info for sure. Currently I am taking Wellbutrin XL, topamax, Lamictal, and Xanax (for sleep) and have been feeling desperate on what to try next for my Bipolar. I started on meds over 10 years ago when I was "diagnosed" (although not told with that terminology", then put eventually on Seraquel, Zoloft, Prozac, Buspar, Celexa......
Avatar m tn Was so-so. Better, but still had intense ups and downs. Right now, I'm taking Wellbutrin XL and Lamictal. The Lamictal seems to be working really well to stabilize my mood. For some reason, right now...I am VERY irritable and lots of anger episodes occuring. So, not sure this is the right combination for me. But that's where I've been. I think if you find the right meds, they can be life savers. The ARE overly prescribed by doctors that don't have experience in psychiatry.
Avatar m tn A few weeks ago, she had a seizure-like episode at work. She was talking to a co-worker, and the co-worker said that Lindsey look like she was in a daze, then stiffened up & started posturing and then she fell. After falling, she hit her head and had to get 2 staples. She was unconscious before she fell and has no recollection of the episode. Co-workers say she woke up at her office and was asked if she new where she was.
Avatar n tn it lasted for about 1 year after i quit taking Cymbalta and now it coming back again.. i dont take any meds at all for fear of it happening but here it is.. again!! i just dont know what to do. its not painful but at the same time its SCARY! i need help with this and i cant find help anywhere.. they all just say well you have migraines.. so its got to be something with that.. i dont think it is.. i think its something in MY BRAIN. it just hit me out of no where..
Avatar m tn Ate and went to the library. Bought a bunch of candy on the way and dropped off my new script for Zoloft and more of the old Lamictal/Wellbutrin combo. Stayed in the library for about an hour, then had to leave because my stomach hurt and I had completed the study guide. Driving over to the 24 hour CVS to get my script on the way home, I saw a friend who I had a falling out with about half a year ago.
Avatar f tn And I ended up spending lots of money and not sleeping and doing all sorts of things, and then it started making me rapid cycle between depression and mania, and then I was completely unstable and out of control and did end up in the hospital, where I was put on lamictal and zyprexa, and it did bring me back down to earth. If I were you I'd talk to your doctor. That med combo doesn't seem to be working for you. And you don't want to end up in the hospital. Do you feel euphoric?
Avatar n tn 's to Klonopin and Zoloft. He stopped taking the Zoloft immed. (made him feel awful) and is taking nothing in its place. Since this time, he has been having severe abdominal & chest pains, weakness, dizziness, nausea, and very high bouts of high blood pressure. (it was 220/121 today) He has been to the ER twice today alone. When he took a Xanax (first one in about 1 1/2 wks.), he felt instantly better. He's had EKG's,CT scan of his abdomin, endoscopy of esophogus & stomach-all normal.
439168 tn?1307935340 I feel fatigued all the time, even though I take them at night and I don't feel productive at all! I am currently taking Lamictal, Risperdone, Topimax, Celexa, Xanax, Trazadone, and abilify. Has anyone heard of anyone with Bipolar taking this much medication? I have had a few cycling over the years but nothing I think that would warrant this much medication. Could all this medication be making me feel unmotivated and tired all the time?
