My surgeon just told me that leg pain is unusual for chiari? I have read people having peripheral neuropathy. Confused help?
The latest problems relate to peripheral neuropathy in his hands (and, less so, his feet). They are either burning very painfully or numb and he gets very upset about this, not to mention the fact that it reduces his everyday quality of life.
We live in the UK and he has been given tablets which are supposed to take the pain away.
Is peripheral neuropathy or crampy upset stomach likely a symptom associated with acute HIV? I've read that P Neuropathy is a symptom after the other symptoms calm down, which does worry me because that is what happened to me. I'm just wondering if these symptoms are a concern.
however of late i have been suffering from burning feet and im worried that its peripheral neuropathy caused by HIV..I tested 13 weeks after my African affairs and tested negative, should I test again?
I have been to a neurologist and his first diagnosis was peripheral neuropathy (which my grandmother has - idiopathic). I had an MRI which ruled out MS. Blood work which ruled out vitamin deficiencies. Most recently i had an EMG which came back ... normal....does this mean that i dont have peripheral neuropathy? what else could cause all of this?

Does anyone know the timeline from HIV infection to possible Peripheral Neuropathy. I had an exposure almost 4.5 months ago and now have been experiencing a numb index fingertip on my right hand for 4-5 days. It is not tingling or painful, it just feels numb and when I touch something it feels weird.
I also have been feeling cold continually now for at least 2 months. I don't have a fever or a cold, it just seems as if my body will not warm up even in comfortable room temperature.
I have been diagnosed with Peripheral neuropathy and have been told that I may need a lumbar puncture.
I have always dreaded this procedure and wonder if it is necessary.

Certain medications can also cause peripheral neuropathy. Nerve compression in the lower lumbar spine can also cause these symptoms.
I would suggest you to undergo a complete neurological evaluation as soon as you can. In the meantime you can take B complex supplements for relief and do some gentle back exercises.

I have severe peripheral neuropathy (PN) in both feet as a result of cancer (Waldenstrom). The cancer has been successfully treated but the PN is steadily getting worse. I tested negative on NCV and EMG. I take Lyrica and Amitriptyline. I'm on my feet for an hour a day wearing Crocs and can't wear shoes. It helps to sit with my feet up (level with my bottom) otherwise they get more painful, swollen and purple.
Q: My PN seem different from how most descibe it.

This Lyrica and Elavil is prescribed or peripheral neuropathy bet the side effect makes me confused. Dr. said I could take the Elavil during the day for pain but can't work, drive or concentrate. Anyone know of another antidepressant that helps with the nerve pain that won't cause the side effects that can be taken during the day?
