Avatar n tn Not so sure about tacrolimus. Look at the law offices looking for people treated with tacrolimus creams. Still some concern out there about serious side effects. Don't forsee approval anytime soon in U.S. As a side note, have your doctor look for demodex follicularis. Some research indicates that they can worsen lid margin disease.
Avatar f tn Too low, and immune rejection is a problem. Too high, and toxic side effects occur. Only your transplant team can tell you what is the correct level. Hope you are doing well.
461838 tn?1255790216 OLT recipients with HCV were randomized to receive tacrolimus+daclizumab (steroid-free) vs. tacrolimus+corticosteroids during 1999-2001 and then tacrolimus+mycophenolate mofetil (MMF)+daclizumab (steroid-free) vs. tacrolimus+MMF+corticosteroids during 2002-2005. Patients in the steroid-free arm of both periods received no steroids except for treating biopsy-proven rejection.
1227049 tn?1267237385 5%) for an extended period of time (probably since I got on the original accutane course) in these areas. I stopped it every now and then due to potential side effects, but nothing else worked, and it became too unbearable to manage, so I was forced to go back on it. I am already terrified of what could potentially happen if used for a long time (glaucoma is the main thing scaring the crap out of me) that I am trying to stop using it on my face with mixed results...
Avatar n tn He is afraid to ask his doctor, and I am afraid to get him into trouble. Im also afraid of the side effects being deadly as a result of our fears of asking trained professionals. ...
Avatar m tn i wouldnt lower the tacrolimus dose further
Avatar m tn i would be extremely cautious about using it until more data is available especially since its purported effects on tacrolimus and cyclosporine metabolism are extreme. i am quite confident that there will be clinical trials coming down the road extremely soon.
Avatar m tn The standard therapy options include intravenous immunoglobulin and plasmapharesis, corticosteroids, azathioprine, cyclophosphamide, etanercept, mycophenolate mofetil, interferon alpha 2a and tacrolimus. Current ones are interferon beta 1a, rituximab, and high dose cyclophosphamide. Your neurologist needs to apprise you of the long-term side effects since prolonged therapy are required. Botox shots are not known to be used in therapy.
Avatar m tn I didn’t bother reporting the adverse reaction since the cream’s listed side effects include permanent discoloration and skin burns/bubbling/lesions/etc.....sounds like the manufacturer is well aware of these problems....I just wish the Dr would have warmed me. Looks like I better get used to living with the damage since I’ve already been tested for fungal infections.
Avatar m tn I am 6 years post liver transplant from genotype 3 Hep C. My doctors want to start treatment to clear the virus. I take Prograf for the liver transplant and I know Naragenin affects the Prograf levels. My question is if during treatment I also took Naragenin and my prograf levels were closely watched and adjusted for the Naragenin effects, wouldn't I have a better chance of clearing the virus.
Avatar n tn The reason that elidel is administered topically is that little is absorbed and thus side effects such as immunosuppression are minimized. If you had acquired HIV, your test would be positive. Believe your test results. You do not have HIV and you do not need further testing.
Avatar n tn I got the same problem I have to go tomorrow to see the doctor but so far it seems that furoate mometasone causes a lot of side effects and skin reactions. I stopped it for 3 weeks already and my skin still looks like s**t but the doctor told DO NOT USE it!
Avatar f tn Topical antifungals and mild steroids are the usual treatment and combination of the two can be used to treat stubborn patches. Oral antifungal drugs and immunomodulators such as tacrolimus and pimecrolimus are used in very severe cases. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn I don't see any reason you can't tell me how much you take/have taken. That's not medical advice.
446474 tn?1446347682 Of course that must be balanced with the impact of the anemia and other side effects. It is always a risk vs benefit situation. Only the patient and their caregiver can make that call as each of us assigns different values to those risks and benefits. I can only hope that the both of you have a relationship with the doctor(s) so you are all working towards the same goal together.
Avatar m tn (interestingly though, a few days before at the vet, the schirmer test was 12 in both eyes). Now 6 weeks later, the right eye has a 6 and the left eye still has 0. The specialist reviewed all of the options with us - cyclosporine, pilocarpine or tacrolimus with sirolimus. She said that very rarely has she seen any dog respond to cyclosporine after not responding to tacrolimus.
Avatar n tn The peeling that you are having is due to side effects of steroids. My sincere advice would be to consult an allergist and get allergy testing done. In this a small amount of allergen is introduced into the skin of the forearm and the reaction of the skin is noted. If there is any redness then that person is allergic to the allergen introduced. You can also get blood tests like RAST done. You can take OTC antihistaminics like Benadryl or Claritin.
Avatar m tn Oral antifungals are not without side effects and should be used with caution after consulting a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

1414174 tn?1304680526 I started noticeing side effects at about 8pm, and they continued till this morning. I experienced a low grade headache, aches in my upper legs and lower back, some difficulty sleeping, and an awkward kind of dizziness (which I notice now seems to immediately follow my Riba dose). I am a Genotype 1b, with what I was told a 6log Viral load?? I have clean and sober for over 6 years, and am pretty sure I contracted the virus about 7-8 years ago..

Avatar n tn I woke this morning with aches and pains and have been experiencing a headache on and off all day that is when I am not SLEEPING. Honestly I am not complaining especially since I had expected much worse. My question is do the symptoms change or/and get worse as treatment continues. I would assume they do get worse since the meds build up in your body. I have 3 kids ages 16,11,and 7.
