Avatar n tn I wonder now as I have still some upper discomfort, pain in my neck, ear, jaw if this isnt side effects from all I have read on synthroid. I was doing fine with the 175 but I wasnt quite at normal so he hoped the 200 would do it. 4 1 /2 yrs ago I had a goiter and had radiation to dissolve the thyroid. Anybody had any of these upper gi probs with the high dose of synthroid?
Avatar m tn Her primary issue is the loss of bone in her jaw, leaving some teeth loose. But her bone density tests (I think) are fine. One physican gave her Synthroid, another told her to stop. One perscribed Boniva, another said no, cause she is a young lady. Here are her labs. Any comments? Avatar f tn It is there every day but sometimes it is far worse. It is always swollen just along the top of my jaw/bottom of my cheek. I had thyroid cancer 5 years ago and had a complete thyroidectomy. 14 lymph nodes were removed and 3 had cancer. I was on levoxyl but was switched to synthroid when levoxyl was no longer available. I noticed the swelling around the time of the med change. My thyroid Dr. says there is no relation.
1468158 tn?1363026295 Ok so I've been reading up on the different thyroid meds because I'm pretty sure I'm hypo I go to the dr. To test in a month but after all my research I'm pretty curious maybe someone could help me. I've read that insurance companies don't wanna pay for synthroid Instead most people have to take levothyroxine or levothyroxin. Either way, I'm curious as to how much more expensive is this synthroid to levothyroxine. If anyone knows.
Avatar n tn I have it constantly...no relief, my dr did not put me on meds yet.....I also get pain along my jaw....and I have a constant "slight" sore throat...please advise if/when u find an answer.

Avatar f tn My cholesterol is wnl and there is no heart disease in my family. But the doctors cannot find anything that explains the jaw pain, and the stomache and chest pain either. I am wondering if it is medicine sensitivity?
1766910 tn?1314194973 the question i have is recently ive been having sever pain in my jaw that radiates down to the side of my neck is or can this be from my goiter?..thankyou in advance........
1027416 tn?1252355428 I hate synthroid!! Everytime I up my dose by the smallest amount (I've been taking 75mcg for 11 days now) I start having all these burning sensations in my upper body, chest pains, jaw pain, extreme anxiety (even though I'm on anti-anxiety meds) I feel like I'm losing my mind and having a heart attack all at the same time.
Avatar f tn Was headaches one of your symptoms while on the Synthroid? I ask cause I am having right sided pain and numbness, the pain is in my jaw area and around just my right eye...I take 125 mcg. of Syn.for cancer suppression. This thyroid business is draining me. I hope you get to feeling better soon.
Avatar f tn My haemoglobin has been low for many years(atleast) and becomes okay after a 3 months iron supplement. It will become low again. I was diagnoised with TMJ jaw problem(jaw pain, ringing in the ears) 8 monthd back. I wear a splint for it. My TSH as of now is 18.26(ref range 0.35-5.50), free T3 is 2.10(ref range 2.3-4.2) free T4 is 0.87(ref range 0.89-1.76) and haemoglobin 11.4(range 12.0-15.). My muscle pain is extreme that I cannot carry even a small bag.
Avatar f tn I had thyroid cancer and had my whole thyroid removed 6 months before the pain started, so I had also been on synthroid for six months. I went to a thyroid specialist doctor who saw that I never had the radioactive iodine scan or treatment, so he took me off the synthroid for almost 8 weeks to get my levels where they needed to be to proceed with the scan. During this period, the pain subsided and improved greatly.
Avatar f tn she now has me on Synthroid to reduce the module ... but the pain in my ear is persistant... no pain in my throat....is there a nerve where this nodule is ???? still in pain on my left ear ...
Avatar f tn It is a dull achy pain. I also have the pain in both my arms and now occasionally in my jaw. My doc just ordered bloodwork because he thinks its something to do with my muscles. I also had an ultra sound done waiting for the results but just wondering if any of this could be related to my hypothyroidism? Headaches are another symptom i am sure is brought on by the stress of all this. Any thoughts??
210400 tn?1325380570 Oh I know the title is long but I'm terrified. I'm only 23, I've been on synthroid for 7 years. After I delivered my daughter (now 11weeks ago) I had my levels drawn. The free T4 showed normal the TSH low; so they lowered my dose, this last time again free T4 normal; but my TSH was way lower than before. So they are suggesting I stop my medication for 6 weeks and then get redrawn. Has anyone ever done this? I've been off the medication now for 3 days. I feel completely different.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism after I had my second child at 25 years of age. I was placed on Synthroid 50 mcg and stayed on that dosage despite having recurring symptoms of hypothyroidism and extreme fatigue with anxiety and depression. Almost 9 years later I went to an endocrinologist after my physician dismissed my symptoms as stress related and refused to modify my thyroid dosage because my TSH was normal around 5.
Avatar m tn He upped my dose of synthroid to 150, gave me vitamin D pills along with the list of vitamins from the neurologist and said to come back in 2 months. He didn't even talk to me about diet and he said I wa pre- pre diabetic and possibly insulin resistant. My number for that was 6.4 if that means anything. I need to go back to work. Is the doctor doing all that he can to help me?
Avatar f tn Because a recent new doctor found out a recent test I asked for showed low T4 no one knows what to do and stuck me on Synthroid and says hes done, great internalist. Synthroid making me feel horrible and now I think I have Sjorners my eyes are so dry and mouth that I keep drinking water all day but does not help.
Avatar f tn Good question! I was diagnosed with hyper and had the worst jaw pain. I took advil for about six weeks and my accupuncturist and doctor said it wasn't thyroid. My dentist told me I had a cracked tooth and I got a crown, but honestly about 2 days before he fixed it- it was much, much better. I am curious what you find out.
Avatar n tn I have recently been going through all the same sort of symptoms as you have listed, including the jaw pain. I think it is hormone related as I have heard of other people going through it too. I am currently getting tested and may be referred to an endocrinologist shortly to find out if my symptoms are due to early menopause. So if I find out anymore about it, I will let you know.
Avatar n tn I woke up yesterday with horrendous jaw pain (mostly left side). Has anyone experience this? Any suggestions on how to relieve the pain? Or what may be causing it?
Avatar m tn s a very good idea to seek therapy ~ it can make a world of difference in your life! Regarding the jaw pain; clenching jaw muscles can affect your neck and jaw, it is actually a common symptom for many people who suffer from anxiety. If it is extreme, you can ask your dentist for a mouth guard, which can help reduce the pain and also save your teeth from any future damage ( use it at night while you sleep, or if you nap anytime)...
Avatar m tn For about a month now I have had jaw pain under the mandible. Lymph nodes are not swollen and the pain comes and goes. Driving me crazy. Starting to think salivary gland is blocked as my.mouth is a bit dry.
Avatar f tn No jaw pain but now you mention it I've got slightly sensitive teeth. Hope your jaw ache passes quickly.
Avatar n tn I have had pain in the left joint of my jaw for years now. As far as I can remember I have not been knocked in that area. The area of pain can stretch from the lower jaw area right up to my ear and can even give me neck pain. It causes pain when I open my mouth wide and always feels like the bones are 'clicking' and 'clunking' out of place. I have had phisio on the joint but that is only a stretch of the muscle and the pan is always present.
Avatar n tn s know if you have ever had braces before, but if so, or if you grind your teeth, there is a very good chance you might have TMJ. It causes severe jaw pain because the jaw is not aligning correctly. If it is, you generally can not open your mouth as far due to tightening or sometimes you can even feel or hear it pop.
Avatar n tn for this he gave me brufen 200mg, amoxicilin 500mg and flagyl 400mg, but still im havig sever pain in my lower left jaw where my wisdom tooth was extracted. when i met my doctor to remove the stiches i complained about my situataion, he said its normal as for the bone beeing drilled.
Avatar f tn My oral surgeon suggested some exercises I could do and it did help a little. The instant headache pain i had went away because the regular jaw joint pain I was having suddenly didn't reach my right eye . I have had no improvement since and my o/s wants me to start therapy. Will this help ? Starting to think there will be no end to this , each meal is painful , getting really sick of this.
