symbicort

Avatar n tn Inhaled steroid/beta-agonist combos such as Symbicort are considered standard therapy for patients with frequent or severe COPD symptoms. Continue the Symbicort unless your physician tells you to stop using it.
Avatar f tn Sixty-six y/o female with dxed moderate (dobutamine stress echo) PH secondary to COPD. No pressure numbers were provided in the cardiologist report. My COPD is severe FEV1 45% but DLCO only 35% and I am fully O2 dependent. I can walk a mile but have to rest as I still desaturate on 6L O2. Recently started Symbicort inhaler and systemic blood pressure went up 180/108 and was wondering if the med would be likely to raise pulmonary pressure as well.
1098963 tn?1257865718 My significant other is taking Symbicort 160/4.5. I have been told that the steroid in symbicort can be transmitted into my system through any exchange of "bodily fluids" and possibly have a bad reaction with my HBP meds...is this true? thankyou!
757137 tn?1347196453 I take supplements to reduce inflammation and thin mucus. I have moderate COPD and am doing fairly well, but would benefit from a longer-lasting medication. Any suggestions? This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/924096'>Advair Skip a Day</a>.

Avatar n tn I have wet macular degeneration as well as COPD and my ophthamalogist theorizes that the weird "blisters" that are appearing at the site of the oozing veins may be caused by the steroid content of my asthma medication ( namely Spiriva). So he has asked me to change to something that doesn't contain any steroids. My pulmonologist has suggested I add floridil to my albuterol nebulizer.
620048 tn?1358018235 I haven't been here much because I don't know where to go....I have been feeling so sick. Its not so much my MS directly, but its my COPD. I feel like am invalid now because I can't do much without having to lie down because the shortness of breath gets to me. Not to mention hives that come and go. I am so glad i got the pain pills, I just took one and I am here for the evening. Now I have too many health issues and not always sure which is which...
Avatar m tn then Medicare stopped paying for it, they gave me this for some odd reason I wont take it..i am copd..I been using rescue inhaler and nebulizer.. both these been on most my life.. are these meds close to the same?? I've got it right here..
Avatar f tn I would like to know whether I should use the inhalers they gave me (spiriva and seretide) for my condition, COPD, irrespective of whether I get some relief from them. Can they slow down the lung deterioration process? Should I really go on inhaling for ever?... in other words, if these medicines are only - or mostly - intended to make me feel better (which they don't), can I stop taking them? I perceive them as a nuisance and the result of a pharmaceutically oriented approach.
Avatar n tn i have asthma, copd so i quit smoking.i got what was dianosed by my doctor as trush so he took me off of advair and kept me on the predisone and gave me a precription for yeast infectioon.i finished the precription.and low and behold the white cotton like mucus is back in fhe timeull force. i'm really sick of being sick all the time my heart rate is 104 my age is 68. i might add i'm sweaty all time.
Avatar f tn Another doctor gave me a sample of Symbicort after my COPD diagnosis. I took one dose and went back to him the next day. I had been awake all night and nearly lost my mind. Apparently I have a reaction to steroids. He then put me on Spiriva (along with my albuterol) and I haven't had any problem. This cough syrup I was given has Dexamethasone in it. Wikpedia had this to say about that: "Dexamethasone is a potent synthetic member of the glucocorticoid class of steroid drugs.
Avatar n tn I am currently on spireva, albuterol and symbicort. Symbicort can give you thrush so you have to rinse and spit after use. I quit smoking all together. It is hard because I really want one. I know if I do, It will probably kill me. I have seen suginficant improvement in my breathing. I now maintain a level of 91 and only need oxygen at night. If you have conjestion like I did and you are not coughing up blood, you can use mucinex. I had to take 2 600mg tabs twice a day.

Avatar m tn I have shortness of breath and pain in the lung/ back area. I am on spiriva, symbicort, ventolin, levalbuteral, and 800 ibuprofen. This has been going on for 5 months. X- ray was clear two months ago. All blood labs and cultures clear. My doctors do not know what to do for me? I'm constantly tired and in pain and short of breath. I'm 25, and should not be this sick!
Avatar f tn t give me details but she told me not to be too concerned as it would be very hard to do these tests when you have a cold (i suspect it was a monitor that can test you for COPD) . She has put me on Ventolin (to use as required) and Symbicort (one puff in the morning and one in the evening) to assist me with my breathing until I recover from this cold.
Avatar f tn DO I ALSO NEED TO BE TAKING SYMBICORT OR ADVAIR? WHAT CAN I DO TO TRY TO MANAGE MY COPD BESIDES QUIT SMOKING WHICH I HAVE CUT DOWN TO A HALF A PACK A DAY. WHICH IS ALL THAT I CAN ACCOMPLISH NOW. WHAT CAN I BE DOING TO BETTER CONTROL MY BREATHING WITH WHAT I HAVE ON HAND?
1580703 tn?1651904887 I still can't exhale well and have resistance even on symbicort and prednisone, comibvent inhaler. is low oxygen eventually going to kill some of my brain cells? will pangraf or xolair (my IGE 165) help me breathe? my O2 is down to 86-88 during the day.
1422961 tn?1282587806 I am 49, have had COPD for over 15 years, and had a wedge resecction done in Jan. 2008. Every time i have my 02 checked it is excellent, but i am always at rest. (I wish they would check it when i walk in the door gasping for air). At times i get headaches from just walking through the grocery store and have to use my hands to 'crawl' up the stairs. I am on disability and want to stay off oxygen as long as i can, but i can't go on like this much longer.
Avatar f tn Spiriva is an anticholenergic used to treat various forms of COPD, but rarely asthma. The primary function of these medications is to reduce mucous in the respiratory system. They do have a mild broncho-dilating affect. I have not used Spiriva so I am unsure of its dosage, but I have taken ipratropium which is in the same class. As a neb solution it lasts 6 hours and as an MDI it last 4 hours. Check your prescription for dosing on this medication.
1086884 tn?1328640455 I now suffer from COPD and with the medication I have been on (Advair, Symbicort) I still have trouble breathing but I do exercise. I ride a stationary bike and use the treadmill each evening and it has helped with my breathing. Good luck.
Avatar m tn You may not have COPD. x rays and a good lung doctor could help more than a regular MD. I don't cough a whole lot unless I have an exacerbation. then I am treated with pregnozone. My regular treatment is spiriva, pro air, symbicort. I take 2 mucinex and 1 loraterdane. please excuse spelling.
Avatar f tn says there is no fluid around my heart. I do have COPD and I use symbicort twice daily.
Avatar m tn Three questions if I might First, do the medications prescribed for COPD (Spiriva, Symbicort, Advair) slow the progression of COPD or only provide symptomatic relief? If they do not slow the progression, then given some of the side effects I may not use any of them. The second question relates to quitting.
