17020225 tn?1455749597 By the way, tempeh and miso are highly processed foods, and some miso products are in powder form. If you've ever seen tempeh or miso, they don't look much like a soy bean, if you've ever seen a fresh soy bean (a fresh soy bean is green and round and comes in a pod like any other bean and can be eaten that way). It's not whether a food is processed or not, it's whether the processing produces a healthful food or not and whether unhealthful additives are present.
Avatar f tn I have read this anti-soy stuff for over three decades now, as I was in the health food biz as a store manager for 18 years. I can tell you it was all started by the same people who came out with the "Beef: it's what's for dinner" ads, which are paid for partly by the Dept. of Agriculture, just as the milk ads are. I don't doubt the theoretical questions raised about soy.
Avatar f tn I have a mostly healthy diet with a day or two in the month where I eat junk, like popcorn and apple pie with ice cream I recently started mixing Amazing Grass Superfoods and Wheat grass in my morning smoothies. My smoothies include a helping of berries: blue, black, and strawberries with banana and grape juice. Not sure if the superfoods have causes this grainy stool, but I am concerned since it lasts for a couple of days.
557907 tn?1215882569 I have Celiac disease [need to eliminate all gluten from wheat, rye, barley and oats] and I am very dairy intolerant -- to the point that I have to keep any dairy products from all foods and medication (lactose in meds is a problem). I have been using soy milk, absolutely love soy yogurt, and enjoy tofu to fill-in for all the dairy foods I can not have. Boooo! No more Purely Decadant Soy Ice Cream. Yumm! This is pure torture!!!!
Avatar f tn I have a question about diet since I am now post-menopause. I was told that soy should be avoided because the ALH cells can increase. Does this mean any product that has soy in the ingredients list? I am amazed at how many daily items (like english muffins and vitamins) have soy. Is there a list or website that would help me with food products?
Avatar f tn Processed foods, pesticides etc are a good reason why most of the people have a lack of nutriments and vitamins/minerals therefore this is why i strongly suggest vitamins/minerals and superfoods supplements. Superfoods are foods that contain high amount of nutriments, vitamins and minerals and have antioxidant and many more proprieties. You must know that there are also natural anti-anxiety remedies and supplements available.
Avatar m tn Hello. I just recently started taking Synthroid. I am a little concerned about something and I hope someone here can help me out :) I am a vegan (no meats, dairy, eggs). I do eat (in moderation) soy products, mostly tempeh (fermented soy), tofu and maybe some soy milk in my coffee. I've heard from several people that I will have to cut out all soy products because it interferes with the medication and is a huge contributing factor to my hypo. Is this true?
2175366 tn?1337651654 Particular nutrient deficiencies are associated with reduced energy and chronic tiredness include iron, magnesium, B12 and folic acid (B9). Opiates often depletes the body of vitamin C as well. That is just a few notable mentions.
87651 tn?1259602403 After reading the contents, its says sweetened with milk and soy. I am on Armour, 45 mgs. Any thoughts? Or can we have soy, but within a certain timeframe of taking meds?
Avatar f tn Oh dear. Soy got you too. Yes, your symptoms most likely were caused by the soy you ate. The fact that you felt a lot of improvement after eliminating soy is a valid indication that the soy is to blame. Soy has a reputation for being an endocrine disrupter and for causing destruction of the thyroid gland. Your symptoms are typical for a thyroid imbalance (as well as other possibilities). Soy is not a health food. It can cause permanent endocrine damage.
1414974 tn?1285958242 I don't know where you live but here in Australia you can get CoQ10 from nutritionists or naturopaths that don't contain soy .. I am a nutritionist and I have my hubby on it and also take it myself. The easiest way of explaining how it benefits is to say that it provides energy to cells ..
Avatar m tn I did review Complementary Medicine Community of MedHelp and items on soy with a couple mentions that soy may contribute to male hooters (and one comment that they probably do not). I'm brand new to MedHelp so having a little trouble finding my way around. I don't think I've found your rant on Soy. I could be interested in that. Can you give me some specific instructions on getting to your journal and findng comments on Soy.
Avatar f tn Chlorella and Spirulina. Many positive claims are based on research done on individual nutrients that Spirulina contains, such as GLA, various antioxidants, etc., rather than on direct research using Spirulina. What follows is research on the health and healing effects of Spirulina. In vitro research (e.g.

1018329 tn?1448980165 I was curious what you discovered on this and experimented with. Did you end up changing formulas? I am a breastfeeder but I saw the topic about soy, I know for myself at one point in time I was having soy protein shakes and this caused diarrhea in both my husband and I daily. It wasn't until we stopped using soy protein supplements that this stopped. So I am interested in seeing if this changed for your baby or what occurred.
Avatar f tn I actually just started drinking it while on treatment. I notice where I live Almond milk (and soy) it is available in the dairy section in most parts of town so I think it has become more popular. Maybe it is because both almond & soy milk are gluten free and the almond milk is lactose free. I just think it is so cool that the ingredients contained exclusively almond milk. I should say upfront that I am used to buying a gallon of fat-free milk for $3.50 to $4.00.
