These are very powerful narcotics & are the toughest to kick. I would also add that if you are pre - diabetic or diabetic that an extended steady dose of Methadone may cause of worsen this condition. (This is something many clinics and prescribers won't necessarily mention or even know about.

It is unusual for a doctor to just cut a patient off. Tramadol is not a solution, because it is an opiate substitute and also very difficult to quit.
Avatar f tn Buprenorphine is also available in pill form under the brand name Subutex. And yes, Suboxone requires a govenment-mandated seminar for its prescribers, but there is a loophole. I understand that if doctors write "for pain" on the prescription, they can legally prescribe it. What Suboxone has that the patch and Subutex does not is naloxone. The naloxone ingredient is there primarily to prevent people from crushing and injecting Suboxone.

The same story goes for the methadone clinics. It is a very long acting drug and is extremely hard to taper, so you would be switching one devil for another.

I am also bi-polar. mostly severe depression and anxiety. went to rehab and they started me on suboxone. I didn't ask for it, had never heard of it but I felt so much better I didn't question much. just took every day for 1 week. 2mg twice a day. sent home with 8mg 3 times a day.

I HIGHLY recommend people going to your website and obtaining copies of your other seminars if they're thinking of going the Suboxone route. Avatar m tn I have a friend who getting ready to quit suboxone after 8months, he says he's down to .5mg daily for 2 weeks now. My question is does anyone know if him taking a short acting opiate(norco,perc's) after stopping will even help alleviate some of the withdrawals. I went through sub withdrawals for nearly 3wks, I did take 20mgs of valium for 2wks during that period and it helped some.

Avatar m tn If you were my patient, I would advise you that most manufacturers of pills and most prescribers recommend that you take them for at least 2-4 weeks before relying on them for birth control. Good luck!

PS Tell the new doctor what happened and that buspar has not improved your symptoms. I suffer from anxiety too and it can actually feel painful.
