strattera

Avatar f tn she is embarrasssed and withdrawn since the weight loss. I am trying to make smoothies with protein drinks in it, but she wont drink them. She has no appetite and she says anything remotely sweet makes her sick to her stomach. we are attempting high caloric foods at super and she will eat then, but not enough to gain. She is a triplet and doesn't want her sisters to know she is now anorexic?
Avatar f tn A similar analysis in adults treated with Strattera did not reveal an increased risk of suicidal thoughts. Call your doctor right away if your child has thoughts of suicide or sudden changes in mood or behavior, especially at the beginning of treatment or after a change in dose.
Avatar n tn For many people, however, unintended weight loss can be a problem. For example, weight loss can be a problem in growing children.
Avatar n tn This in itself is not always a problem. It becomes a problem if it leads to persistent weight loss. Strattera is a treatment for ADHD that is not in the psychostimulant family of medications. It does not suppress appetite and is quite an effective medication, particularly for those children who are inattentive but not hyperactive.
Avatar f tn Librax does have a warning that says, This medication may cause withdrawal reactions, especially if it has been used regularly for a long time or in high doses. In such cases, withdrawal symptoms (such as shakiness, sweating, nausea, seizures) may occur if you suddenly stop using this medication." Did you stop it suddenly or slowly taper off?
Avatar n tn Straterra is an anti-depressant type of medication. They use it for adhd and to stabilize behaviors/moods with children and adults. Though its rate of success isn't as high in children as adults it does work with some. Your son is too young for them to classify him as bi-polar, but ODD with the mood swings sounds more like that is the diagnosis you might be looking at, I am not a doctor, but you may want to ask. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Over the last several years she has had significant weight gain not loss. It does not seem possible that it is a misdiagnosis three times...but it is questionable to me why none of the medications work for her and none of the medications cause a loss of appetite, she actually seems to always to be hungry. I do not know where else to go...two psyhiatrists, one psychologist, and out family doctor...
Avatar f tn Heart-related problems — ADD / ADHD stimulant medications have been found to cause sudden death in children and adults with heart conditions. The American Heart Association recommends that all individuals, including children, have a cardiac evaluation prior to starting a stimulant. An electrocardiogram is recommended if the person has a history of heart problems.
979428 tn?1253399601 I have a wonderful friend who has a 7 year old son who is on ADHD medication. He is having a hard time getting his son to eat and/or gain weight. He sees a county doctor, so it is not much of a partnership as it is the doctor telling him what to do. The doctor's office has expressed a concern over his son's weight and my friend is at a loss about what to do. Does anyone have any suggestions? He thinks the medication is Strattera. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn The most common side effects I've heard or seen in others is an increase in water retention, and feelings of dehydration. Creatine draws water from the body into the muscles and can make them appear slightly bloated. This will diminish once you've stopped taking the supplement, as will some of the weight you've gained. I recommend adopting a better diet for optimal muscle growth. There are plenty of meal plans made for bodybuilders on the net.
Avatar f tn Strattera is used to treat ADD/ADHD in both adults and children. However, Prozac is used to treat depression as well as to eliminate or reduce the symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and bulimia nervosa (an eating disorder). It is not used to treat ADD/ADHD. Something is missing here .....
Avatar f tn methylphenidate (focalin) is what my grandchild has taken for 3 years he was very small for his age and mentally delayed he now takes abilify and strattera....
Avatar f tn It is true that B-vitamins, zinc and iron contribute to the development of a neurotrasmitter, dopamine, that is implicated in ADHD. So, to the extent that those supplements enhance dopamine functioning, they have something to offer. But it is important to recognize that they have not been substantiated as treatments for ADHD and should only be given under the guidance of the PCP.
1367899 tn?1278121440 My sister and I started a blog on Adderall to learn more about the medication along with alternative and complementary ADHD treatment options. Any feedback from users of Adderall or Adderall XR would be greatly appreciated. Topics to be added this week on http://Adderall.org How is Adderall XR different from Adderall? Avatar m tn I am suffering so bad with concentration and focus its affecting my work BAD... Cant read a sentence without forgetting what i just read. My mind is racing constantly. any info would help...
Avatar m tn There are alternatives in addition to Strattera. Relative to the efficacy of Strattera, it is actually performing quite well, and some prescribers are employing it as a front line (vs alternative) tretament for ADHD.
Avatar m tn I am 35 make . I am in serious need of advice. I recently got promoted to a position that requires a lot of stressful fast paced environment . I am not allowed to take Ritalin or any other of those drugs because my job will fire me. This promotion has been the worst thing I ever took. I make 10 grand more, I put up a good farce to get this promotion however my new co workers already see me as if I am incompetent.
Avatar n tn We were able to wean off of the Prevacid and just stick to Strattera, as our peds thinks the Strattera helps him with the anxiety related to the GERD, and therefore he had no complaints of symptoms of GERD. In March we went off of the Strattera, and within 4 weeks the symptoms of GERD re-appeared ( Not eating, coughing, feeling like something is caught in his throat.) We went back on Strattera and Prevacid.
Avatar m tn For a long time, drinking water has been thought to help with weight loss. In fact, 30–59% of our US adults who try to lose weight increase their water intake. Drinking Water Schedule: 1. Drink 2 glass of water after waking up ? helps activate internal organs 2. Drink 1 or 2 glass after walk/workout/yoga ? helps to hydrate your body. 3. Drink 1 glass of water before taking a bath ? helps lower blood pressure 4. Drink 1 glass of water 30 minutes before a meal ? helps digestion 5.
Avatar f tn Everyone is different. My son is 12 years old and has adhd odd and mood disorder. He has been on multiple meds. The stimulates seem to be the most recommended for the adhd problems but can sometimes cause weight loss and aggression. Zoloft is for depression. I don't believe any of these meds help with the odd part of it. Because the child has control over this they are choosing to act that way for a reason. Weather it be for attention or just to drive ya mad.
Avatar f tn Recently we have tried other drugs and her symptoms of aggression have increased. She is currently on Strattera, serequel, and hydroxizine (to help her sleep). She has only been on the serequel 2 days and it is not helping. The risperidone was stopped immediately because of weight gain. I need some suggestions on what we can do. HELP! I am tired of getting beat up, and I especially feel very bad for her because she cannot communicate with me how she is feeling.
Avatar f tn ve worked for in that time. And be miserable without working out. Would taking a klonopin with the strattera in the am help eleviate those symptoms? My pharamist thinks my blood pressure is getting to high. Would a klonopin combat that so I can at least perform at 100%?
Avatar m tn ve been prescribed adderall for the past 4 years, I currently take 75mg per day. A couple months ago my Dr. started me on strattera in conjunction with my adderall. I have not noticed any improvement in my ability to concentrate or remain organized since starting the strattera, however my anxiety is gone and I am finally happy. A couple weeks ago my Dr. left and I was given a "temp" to take her place.
Avatar f tn It was first documented in Germany with a 12 year old girl in 2006. There is a link. Probably due to the increase in Norepinephrine in the body. Just and FYI it happened to us. Have done tons of research for ADD and it's subtype.
1475492 tn?1332884167 I would recommend Strattera. It might be a really good overall medication for Jordan. Strattera is not a controlled substance. It actually was used as an anti-depresant but they realized that it worked better to control ADHD. It doesn't tend to cause weight loss and it is a mood lifter. My son has ADHD, he is currently on a very minimal dose of Focalin XR. Focalin is a stimulant.
