m, constantly having to take Fluconazole tablets after a round of antibiotics for candidiasis under my breasts and in my mouth. I always rinse my mouth after any inhalers or the spriva handihaler either with water or mouthwash. Usually both. I also use Clotrimazole 10 mg troche up to 5 times daily for the thrush in my mouth. I am so frustrated as I feel like the spriva is helping my breathing but I am miserable.
many respitory diseases involving the use of inhalers and rescue inhalers make your mouth so dry that they cause gingivitus, even if you rinse and spit after taking a dose. i always had decent teth not perfect as i was born before flouride was put into local water supplies, but good and i kept up on them . but within 1 year or a little more of using inhalers like advair, spiriva and asmanex my teeth started breaking at the gum line due to gingivitus and i needed new teeth.
Although I get good (better) results from the combination than Symbicort alone, since starting the Spiriva, I am experiencing very dry mouth, and nasal passages to the extent that I occasionally experience light bleeding when I blow my nose.
My questions are, How serious is this side effect, Should I continue using the Spiriva, Continue the Spiriva but stop the Symbicort, or Drop both and just take Combivent which I currently use as my emergency inhaler?
Why not just rinse with water? Its neutral and would wash away the acid anyways? I don't see the benefit in it necessarily. I was just wondering why it was recommended cause I've never prescribed/recommended it before. I actually have never heard of it before but it doesn't necessarily mean its a bad thing though.
advair has warnings on it that it can cause candidiasis, yeast infections if not rinsing mouth or the dispenser, I would not use this, you can also get it in your lungs, remain untreated even if they treat your mouth and not your entire body, it can get into your eyes, too, long term use, cataracts, If you can use something else or not at all, then do it, but do not use meds ALL the time, give your body a break , see how you feel, if you use meds ALL the time, eventually, your body could get dna

If you are taking Duoneb there is no point in taking Spiriva because Spiriva is related to the ipratropium that is a consitituant of Duoneb. Also Spiriva is extremely drying which may be why you are feeling so uncomfortable.
To be using Duoneb five or six times a day you would have to be close to death. Obviously you aren't, so you can cut back without any problem. I have serious COPD and my use of Duoneb averages 3.5 vials daily.
The big question is - how bad is your COPD?
I have wet macular degeneration as well as COPD and my ophthamalogist theorizes that the weird "blisters" that are appearing at the site of the oozing veins may be caused by the steroid content of my asthma medication ( namely Spiriva). Adviar: is a cortico-steriod. This means it is a anti-inflammatory type med that will take the inflammed part and calm it down.

after checking, this bladder problem is a side effect of Spiriva...I had used Spiriva for over a year and the infections/non-infections got more frequent until I had to go to the urologist...I was on Azo Standard most of the time. I alerted my pulmonologist as to my problem and he took me off the Spiriva. Since being off the Spiriva, my breathing has gotten worse....my Dr said there was no replacement for Spiriva...I'm writing to find out what others might know.
I'll try to be brief. My dr. ordered a pft last week (following three ct scans over 16 months). I had been using Spiriva for three years. My question is how long should I have been off the Spiriva for the test to show accurate results? Shouldn't I have had the test before being given Spiriva? Thanks in advance.

COPD Fev 45-50% , have been on Flovent,/Spiriva/ Proair 10 years and am sensitive to medications. I dont smoke.
Have had increasingly reactive airways for 3 years, had first Dxed exacerbation last fall triggered by woodsmoke. No congestion and did not take antibiotics. Pulmo said airways 'sounded just like asthma' but do not have that Dx. Airways felt raspy, swollen, inflamed. Have slowly recovered on a higher dose of Flovent.
However want to ask does the acid, Lauric acid, being one, actually erode the enamel, making teeth thinner? I normally do not
Professional in the field. Do not use mouth wash right away wait about a week and stick with warm salt water rinse. The warm salt water rinse the salt water promotes healing of the gingival tissue. Mouth wash can be to harsh. And yes you should still brush you want to keep your mouth as free from bacteria as you can during healing. Food in between teeth, flossing. Always floss.
I brush my teeth if I get a funky taste in my mouth. I don't know if that helps at all.
I recently purchased a pre-brush mouth rinse. So now I rinse, brush, and rinse again with a normal mouth wash. Since first starting this routine, after the cycle I would get this tingling/pain sensation just under my left cheek bone which would usually go away after a few minutes. Though today I got the sensation and it has been a few hours and yet to go away. It is now mildly soar when left alone and much more painful when pressure is applied.
