Common Questions and Answers about Spiriva rinse mouth

spiriva

Avatar f tn m, constantly having to take Fluconazole tablets after a round of antibiotics for candidiasis under my breasts and in my mouth. I always rinse my mouth after any inhalers or the spriva handihaler either with water or mouthwash. Usually both. I also use Clotrimazole 10 mg troche up to 5 times daily for the thrush in my mouth. I am so frustrated as I feel like the spriva is helping my breathing but I am miserable.
Avatar f tn many respitory diseases involving the use of inhalers and rescue inhalers make your mouth so dry that they cause gingivitus, even if you rinse and spit after taking a dose. i always had decent teth not perfect as i was born before flouride was put into local water supplies, but good and i kept up on them . but within 1 year or a little more of using inhalers like advair, spiriva and asmanex my teeth started breaking at the gum line due to gingivitus and i needed new teeth.
Avatar n tn Although I get good (better) results from the combination than Symbicort alone, since starting the Spiriva, I am experiencing very dry mouth, and nasal passages to the extent that I occasionally experience light bleeding when I blow my nose. My questions are, How serious is this side effect, Should I continue using the Spiriva, Continue the Spiriva but stop the Symbicort, or Drop both and just take Combivent which I currently use as my emergency inhaler?
Avatar n tn Gargling and rinsing the mouth after each puff on your corticosteroid inhaler, may help to prevent mouth and throat irritation. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Why not just rinse with water? Its neutral and would wash away the acid anyways? I don't see the benefit in it necessarily. I was just wondering why it was recommended cause I've never prescribed/recommended it before. I actually have never heard of it before but it doesn't necessarily mean its a bad thing though.
620048 tn?1358018235 I am on spiriva and advair, which also give me thrush in my mouth so I am going to finally see him about that. Been having that for a long time, my dentist prescribed meds for it but now that I have a pulmonogist I will take it up with him. Thanks so much for responding..
Avatar n tn advair has warnings on it that it can cause candidiasis, yeast infections if not rinsing mouth or the dispenser, I would not use this, you can also get it in your lungs, remain untreated even if they treat your mouth and not your entire body, it can get into your eyes, too, long term use, cataracts, If you can use something else or not at all, then do it, but do not use meds ALL the time, give your body a break , see how you feel, if you use meds ALL the time, eventually, your body could get dna
Avatar f tn I get them too. I rinse my mouth with Biotene Dry Mouth Oral Rinse. I know what you mean by it really hurting and leaving you with no appetite. Here is some info I pulled for you that may help: Ribavirin can cause mouth sores and dehydration, which can make your mouth feel dry and have a bad taste. Ribavirin can cause you to have an allergic reaction that might show up as a rash on your skin. It can also show up as an irritation in your mouth and throat.
Avatar f tn I had a coule of problems with Spiriva. In the first place it is very drying which causes a problem with dry mouth and sleeping. Also, The powder that is propelled is very gritty and gets me coughing.
Avatar n tn None of the existed before Spiriva!!!! I found out that if you are on Spiriva 2 years - 5 years your chances of getting prostate cancer is 50%. If you are over 60 (I am 62) the chances are 90%.
Avatar n tn my husband has copd he uses adviar spiriva and combivent and it doesnt work what can it be thak you
Avatar n tn When I wake each morning I have a coating of white stuff on my tongue. My mouth is also very dry and sometimes feels stcky , I also get white chrystals on the outside of my lips. I do take Advair and Spiriva every day. how can I help this problem?
Avatar f tn I had a cancer patient tell me her nurse recommended to rinse your mouth 3 to 4 times a day with mylanta the anitacid liquid. that it really helps. My doctor does not want me to try because of the Promatic you have to be careful with calcium, Good luck to you. Have a Happy Hoilday.
Avatar n tn If you are taking Duoneb there is no point in taking Spiriva because Spiriva is related to the ipratropium that is a consitituant of Duoneb. Also Spiriva is extremely drying which may be why you are feeling so uncomfortable. To be using Duoneb five or six times a day you would have to be close to death. Obviously you aren't, so you can cut back without any problem. I have serious COPD and my use of Duoneb averages 3.5 vials daily. The big question is - how bad is your COPD?
Avatar f tn I also use a mouth rinse called Prevention Oncology Mouth Rinse. You can get that at any drugstore. She may also want to try Biotene. I use Biotene toothpaste, but they also have a mouth rinse that might help. It is very mild, and does not contain any alcohol that could make the sores worse.
Avatar n tn I have wet macular degeneration as well as COPD and my ophthamalogist theorizes that the weird "blisters" that are appearing at the site of the oozing veins may be caused by the steroid content of my asthma medication ( namely Spiriva). So he has asked me to change to something that doesn't contain any steroids. My pulmonologist has suggested I add floridil to my albuterol nebulizer.
Avatar f tn Yes! Spiriva is a long acting 24 hour broncho-dialator. So this means it will dialate your airway, make it bigger so air can pass thru it easier. Adviar: is a cortico-steriod. This means it is a anti-inflammatory type med that will take the inflammed part and calm it down. These are two very different medications. one holds it open and the other calms down the inflammed parts.
Avatar f tn after checking, this bladder problem is a side effect of Spiriva...I had used Spiriva for over a year and the infections/non-infections got more frequent until I had to go to the urologist...I was on Azo Standard most of the time. I alerted my pulmonologist as to my problem and he took me off the Spiriva. Since being off the Spiriva, my breathing has gotten worse....my Dr said there was no replacement for Spiriva...I'm writing to find out what others might know.
Avatar f tn I'll try to be brief. My dr. ordered a pft last week (following three ct scans over 16 months). I had been using Spiriva for three years. My question is how long should I have been off the Spiriva for the test to show accurate results? Shouldn't I have had the test before being given Spiriva? Thanks in advance.
Avatar n tn What will happen if you don't rinse your mouth out after you use the Proventil HFA inhaler?
Avatar f tn COPD Fev 45-50% , have been on Flovent,/Spiriva/ Proair 10 years and am sensitive to medications. I dont smoke. Have had increasingly reactive airways for 3 years, had first Dxed exacerbation last fall triggered by woodsmoke. No congestion and did not take antibiotics. Pulmo said airways 'sounded just like asthma' but do not have that Dx. Airways felt raspy, swollen, inflamed. Have slowly recovered on a higher dose of Flovent.
649848 tn?1534633700 ve been getting them rather badly. Sometimes, if I rinse my mouth with listerine a couple times/day, they will go away in a day or two, but now I've got one that isn't leaving. I do have a denture and I thought at first that's what was causing the sore, but I think not. It's getting harder every day to eat anything but soft food -- well, that would be good for the weight, but not very healthy. What gets rid of it?
Avatar m tn However want to ask does the acid, Lauric acid, being one, actually erode the enamel, making teeth thinner? I normally do not rinse mouth with water afterwards, leaving the coconut oil remains in mouth when spit out. so does it clean the teeth, gums and mouth at expense of your enamel?
Avatar f tn Professional in the field. Do not use mouth wash right away wait about a week and stick with warm salt water rinse. The warm salt water rinse the salt water promotes healing of the gingival tissue. Mouth wash can be to harsh. And yes you should still brush you want to keep your mouth as free from bacteria as you can during healing. Food in between teeth, flossing. Always floss.
Avatar f tn I brush my teeth if I get a funky taste in my mouth. I don't know if that helps at all.
Avatar n tn I recently purchased a pre-brush mouth rinse. So now I rinse, brush, and rinse again with a normal mouth wash. Since first starting this routine, after the cycle I would get this tingling/pain sensation just under my left cheek bone which would usually go away after a few minutes. Though today I got the sensation and it has been a few hours and yet to go away. It is now mildly soar when left alone and much more painful when pressure is applied.
