Yes, I agree with you on Roche. After begging/borrowing $$$ from family for the first 2 shipments of Pegasys from private pharm & insurance. I applied to Roche assistance program and in 2 weeks my first no cost shipment was on it's way. The only complaint that I have is I have to be home to sign for it.

You need to get on the phone and call around to your local heptologists ( liver doctor) and regional hospitals and ask about their charity care programs. As Bill mentions above, the meds can be procured free from the above phone numbers after you get a doctor's prescription.

The company believes that the Genentech program is more generous than the Roche program was and have therefore decided to use that program. It's good for people who were denied help due to making too much money but it's a bummer for those folks who need help with co-pays etc. If I hear anything else I am more than happy to share it with everyone.

This is where certain pharmaceutical companies can for a specified time frame provide specific medications without charge for a person without health insurance. Find the website for the names of the medications you are taking. Then you can see if the companies who make them participate in this program.

A followup to this thread - last week while waiting to see my urogyno, the Pfizer rep came in and we started talking about these rebate/assistance programs. I asked her why they have become so prevalent in the last year or so. According to her, the drug mfgs. have always rebated this money out of their profits, but they gave it to the insurance companies, with the intent it would help to contain costs for the insured patient.
