Spiriva and oxygen

Common Questions and Answers about Spiriva and oxygen

spiriva

Avatar f tn You are obviously doing the right things, including mouth washing after drug use and you are correct that the Spiriva and Duo-neb do not contain any steroid. Unfortunately, some individuals develop allergy to the ipritropium in the Duo-neb or to Spiriva and the drug simply irritates the membranes of the mouth allowing the thrush to take hold. That you also develop candidiasis under your breasts suggests that you might, for some reason be predisposed to this infectious agent.
Avatar f tn after checking, this bladder problem is a side effect of Spiriva...I had used Spiriva for over a year and the infections/non-infections got more frequent until I had to go to the urologist...I was on Azo Standard most of the time. I alerted my pulmonologist as to my problem and he took me off the Spiriva. Since being off the Spiriva, my breathing has gotten worse....my Dr said there was no replacement for Spiriva...I'm writing to find out what others might know.
Avatar n tn I am 69 year old woman, average size 12/14, and was just diagnosed with Copd and have Aeortic regurgitation stenosis. My pulmonologist put me on Spiriva and oxygen. My question is that I have 3 cockatiel birds. Will I have to give them up? Of course my health comes first. They do create quite a mess as well as dust and feathers in the air.
Avatar f tn My guess would be if it is day 5 without the inhalers, then they should be out of your system. I too had problems with Advair and Spiriva. I was diagnosed in Oct. 07 with moderate COPD. Was put on Advair, Spiriva and ProAir as my rescue inhaler. After being on the Advair and Spiriva for several months, I began to become ill. Spent the sickest winter of my life, while on these inhalers. Bronchitis, pneumonia and pleurisy that was so painful for 3 months. I was doing okay before the inhalers.
Avatar m tn why do i cough up blood? my dr. has tried to explain it to me, something about air ways, air vents, etc. i do this the majority of the time maybe 2 days in between doing so. sometimes it's bright red and then sometimes a darker pink. i have 50% breathing capacity and am on oxygen. it's real scary even though i've been told not to worry about it. i take advair and spiriva and don't cough up that much but when i do and it is very little.
518117 tn?1429276273 Just wondering if headaches and blurred vision returning, is part of oxygen level possibly dropping. Thank you.
Avatar m tn office who ordered an ambulance and forwarded me to the ICU at local hospital. Spent a few days in ICU and general population with steroids, antibiotics, etc. Came home just fine did not feel bloated, short of breath, etc. Two weeks later I started to feel bloated again, then last night the breathing issue began, used bronchodilator, which eased the problem, thought I would be in emergency room again, but used the dilator about every 1 1/2 hr. which slowed things down.
Avatar f tn Hello all I just signed up for this group. I have SEVERE emphasima. On oxygen 24/7, albutera treatments four times a day. To weis48, yes is my suggestion to your question. I get to get my meds from VA also, when they send them....FOLKS YOU DO NOT WANT THE HEALTH CARE PLAN THAT IS GOING AROUND CONGRESS RIGHT NOW OR YOU'LL HAVE WHAT I ALREADY DEAL WITH...IT *****. Half the time I have to get my primary care doctor to call in everything but the oxygen.
Avatar n tn I've been using Spiriva nearly 10 years and this year my PSA results spiked from less than 1 to above 6. Where did you get your info regarding the statistics on prostate cancer, as I would much like to study it.
Avatar f tn there are nebulized meds like combivent and COPD meds that may help and have less side effects there seem to be some new neublized COPD meds that I saw at the doctor's office
Avatar m tn ve tried spiriva and dulera, combivent and xopenex and I still have some blockage/wheezing when I exhale. I have low oxygen at 75% in my sleep and can't sleep and have terrible fog for days and exhaustion for 2 years with the sleep apnea which medication could help my breathing/sleep apnea problems?
Avatar f tn My husband and I were putting on one of those window kits to keep out the cold air out and I became very tired and my arms and legs felt like they were burning. I use 2 inhalers a day, Spiriva and Advair Diskus 250/50 and use Albuterol inhaler as needed. I am 70 years old. I have never been real athetlic but I find I am getting weaker all the time.
Avatar f tn Have now got neb at home 4times a day and am awaiting my oxygen for out and about and climbing stairs which i find makes me very breathless. Have been told i myt have to have lung transplant if things carry on the way they are. Allways getting infections and very tired. Also have M E which doesnt help. Dont no if im worrying for nothing and with help it myt improve , ive allways suffered with my health in one way or another.
Avatar n tn my husband has copd he uses adviar spiriva and combivent and it doesnt work what can it be thak you
Avatar f tn He is prescribed 16 hrs oxygen daily (we have machine)but only uses this when he feels he needs it (some days as little as 3 hours). He daily takes spiriva, symbicort and sabutamol inhalers and calcichew tablets also mucodyne capsules occassionally. These are prescribed by his doctor. He also takes Nytol (over the counter) herbal sleep tablets quite often. For the past 18months he has suffered from a tingling, burning feeling in his skin.
Avatar n tn Needless to say I was diagnosted with pneumonia and stayed 4 more days in hospital then moved to rehab for 2 1/2 more weeks. All this time I have been on 24/7 oxygen and doesn't look as if I'm ever going to get off of it. Almost all my meds have stopped working (spiriva, symbicort, advair, etc.) the only meds that have any effect is my xopenex inhaler - even the xopenex solution for my nebulizer causes breathing problems sometimes. Even the oxygen(2 ltrs) is not working as well.
Avatar m tn s also overweight, drinks alot and still smokes a pack or so everyday. His oxygen level is 72% but when he stays on oxygen it goes up to 80. He can't walk across the street without getting "all in." He says he only has a year or two to live. I think he's wrong and with all the medications and treatments available, he'll be around for 10-20 years. He has Medicaid and they have him on Spiriva. Am I right? Will he be with me for 10-20 or more years?
Avatar n tn His PFT scores average 51% and he uses oxygen most of the time.He has never undergone a second opinion from a pulmonary doctor.Does he really need a double lung transplant or is there medication that can be used instead of this drastic surgery? He also has never been prescribed any medications for this condition.
Avatar f tn I had been hospitalized for 3 years in a row all in the same month march, for shortness of breath. They thought it was asthma. The last time which was this year, they hospitalized me for a week. Which they ran lots of test and determined I have COPD. The symptoms I had were shortness of breath, tired, and coughing. Oxygen doesn't seem to help, medication wasn’t helping too (Spiriva and Advair plus nose sprays).
1422961 tn?1282587806 FEV1 pre-26, post-32 FEV1/FVC pre-29, post-25. These were from 12/2007. I am on Spiriva, Symbicort and Proventil. I also have asthma so perhaps that has something to do with it too. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn I have emphysema. i use advair twice a day and spiriva one a day. The biggest problem for me is that I always seem to havemucus build up in the mornings. My doctor has told me to try mucinex, but that doesn't seem to work all the time. So i try using albuterol in the morning to help loosen up the mucus so that I can breath better.
Avatar m tn Hi there, The below information are for my 68 years old father regarding his COPD condition during May this year. FEV1 = Base : 0.88, %Pred : 33%, Zscr : -4.1 FVC = Base : 2.18, %Pred : 60%, Zscr : -2.8 PEF = Base 140 l/min, %Pred : 29%, Zscr : -4.3 FEV1/FVC = Base : 40%, %Pred : 55%, Zscr : -5.7 FEF25-75 = Base : 0.40 l/s, %Pred : 17%, Zscr : -2.
Avatar n tn Although I get good (better) results from the combination than Symbicort alone, since starting the Spiriva, I am experiencing very dry mouth, and nasal passages to the extent that I occasionally experience light bleeding when I blow my nose. My questions are, How serious is this side effect, Should I continue using the Spiriva, Continue the Spiriva but stop the Symbicort, or Drop both and just take Combivent which I currently use as my emergency inhaler?
Avatar n tn If you are taking Duoneb there is no point in taking Spiriva because Spiriva is related to the ipratropium that is a consitituant of Duoneb. Also Spiriva is extremely drying which may be why you are feeling so uncomfortable. To be using Duoneb five or six times a day you would have to be close to death. Obviously you aren't, so you can cut back without any problem. I have serious COPD and my use of Duoneb averages 3.5 vials daily. The big question is - how bad is your COPD?
1580703 tn?1651904887 I can't sometimes even on dulera and xopenex and spiriva and prednisone. My wheezing isn't cured and I'm having headaches, trouble thinking. what I'm referring to is antibiotic treatment of asthma- http://www.elsevier.es/sites/default/files/elsevier/eop/S0301-0546(10)00018-2.
312330 tn?1245176752 I use xopenex as my rescue med...and right now do Qvar and Foradil for my maintenance meds right now...but obviously am not under control.
Avatar n tn Common COPD inhalers that contain steroids are Advair, Symbicort, Breo and Dulera.
