Common Questions and Answers about Sonata insomnia

sonata

Avatar m tn Benzos are a bad remedy for insomnia, as they interfere with the brain's ability to learn how to adapt to stress and interfere with REM sleep, and of course are addictive with quite a withdrawal kick. Although you only used it for a short time, people are different in how they respond to quitting -- it should be done gradually even after short term use if that use was continuous as opposed to as-needed occasional use.
Avatar m tn Hello, I've been having back pain and insomnia since my surgery 4 months and was prescribed Percocet. My surgeon told me to see a PCP for more Rx and I did. I went to a family practice with 3 doctors and 1 FNP. Two weeks ago, the FNP prescribe me indocin, benadryl, and retin-a(other). None of these medications helped with my back pain and thurday 12/23 I saw the PCP again.

Avatar f tn He did not want to give me that he gave me klonapin instead.. I have not told him I have a problem with pills. The sonata is not working for my insomnia so I have made an another appt to see him this week to see if I can get the clonadine. When I get to this point it is like the color goes out of the world. I watch people going about their lives and I feel like everyone is passing me by and I have this big thing hanging over my head. I want to be the person I was before.
Avatar n tn I am sorry to hear your suffering from insomnia so much. I can so sympathize with you. I have had insomnia issues for twenty years or more and have tried just about everything on the market. Currently I am having the best success with progesterone treatment and relaxation techniques for sleep. Depending on your age hormone imblance may be an angle to look into. The progesterone has really helped with getting rid of migraines for me too.
Avatar f tn I started to develop insomnia and sleep anxiety. Tried Remeron (sp?) at first, work great but made me want to eat all the time. I quit that job and things did get a little better, but I could never get my normal sleep patterns back. I either cant go to sleep, cant fall into REM sleep or wake up early. To top this off, I am a very light sleeper and have to use earplugs and white noise in order to fall asleep. My doc gave me Seroquel and it works great, have been on it for about 7-8 years.
Avatar f tn with fractures to my pelvis, jaw, back, ankle, and a couple couple ribs which pierced into my lung, and so my lung had collapsed. I could go on and on but that about sums part of my question about insomnia up because I have chronic insomnia partially due to severe arthritis.
18038250 tn?1462591719 t work (trazadone, ambien, sonata, klonopin, Valium, tramadol, lunesta, temazepam, and the list goes on and on) he eventually gave up and said I needed to see a sleep dr. Before I made the appt to see the sleep dr, I stopped seeing the dr that gave up, I weaned myself off all medications to see if I could reset my body and see if I can fall asleep on my own. Well six months later and I'm still wide awake tossing and turning never falling asleep.
Avatar m tn I've searched the web and here and no really good answer. I'm taking a Sonata about 3 or 4 oclock in the morning. It does cause some jitters next day. Now I've started Sam-e and a Super Beta Complex and the Jitters are unbearable. I take some Xanax and it helps some. I can't take much and still function. The question is ... Is it the Sam-e or the Super B Complex causing the extreme jitters or anxiety?
Avatar n tn When I was in college I had from time to time insomnia problems (2,3 days without sleeping) and a light depression. The doctor recommended zyprexa.Strangely, after taking zyprexa for 1,2 months, I wasn't able to learn anything for school and because of that I had a panic attack - didn't left house for a month - I can't understand how did it happen. So, I've been taking zyprexa for 7 years. I want to quit now but I have little success.
Avatar f tn The treatment for chronic insomnia can include the careful use of a sleep medication such as Ambien, Lunesta, or Sonata to break the insomnia cycle. These sleeping pills may temporarily improve sleep for a brief or occasional episode of insomnia.
Avatar m tn I have had insomnia for quite a while. My np told me it would get much worse on tx. I can't take ambien. Does anyone have any sudjestions other than restoril? thanks.

Avatar f tn another option is to get your doctor to prescribe something specifically for insomnia such as ambien, sonata or trazodone. discuss over the counter options with him such as benadryl and others available. lastly, its great to hear YOU know what works best for YOU. don't discount that.
Avatar m tn Are you taking any Ativan, Xanax, temazepam, ambien, ambien CR, kolonapin, valium, sonata, etc.. for insomnia and anxiety? If the answer is yes, how long have you been taking them. If the time period is over 2 to 4 weeks you need to stop taking the above listed drug. Not all at once. You will to do a very slow taper over a period of many months.
Avatar m tn Anyway I have been with this replaced doctor for a yr and a half, I had been explaining to him that 2 vicaprofen in a 24 hour period is not sufficient he by the way had taken me off the motrin and changed my Xanax to Ativan. I also have been on sonata 10 mg for all these yrs. I was given a urine test which is pretty normal, before I took it I told him that there would prob. not be hydrocodone in it as we had been discussing that I needed more pain relief.
1580703 tn?1651904887 I was wondering if clonezapem might help PLMD the leg/arm twitching which may be waking me up?
Avatar f tn Weirdly he's into the classics. Beethoven and Mozart. Things like that. Moonlight sonata gets him real still and he doesn't move. When its over he kicks like crazy till I put it back on. Anything played on a piano or violin seems to sooth him. He also loves when I sing to him. Could be anything.
Avatar n tn my dr just put me on sonata for sleep and i am being treated for add w/ritalin,lamictal for bpd, wellbrutrin depression, and nerourotin for nerve pain and a few days ago i started grinding my teeth together, looks like i am chewing gum all the time and i also am making grunting sounds.
Avatar f tn It seems that every time I stop taking ambien for a few days and I'm feeling side effects. When I wake up my head is killing me, my kidneys are killing me, and I can't stop sudden movement. I have tried to stop several times though my doctors and with therapy but its like nothing works. I try to stick with it but if I have to deal with worst side effects. I can't believe I've been in this mess since '09 and I'm taking too many to even my prescriptions out.
Avatar m tn in Tylenol PM), 2 ounces of Nyquil, one Lunesta or Sonata (whichever I can lay hands upon), and one 1 mg Xanax (but not every night, to avoid addiction). When I can take all of it, ninety five percent of the time I sleep within an hour or an hour and a half. Without the xanax it still works about half of the time.
414333 tn?1226191493 I take Ativan to sleep at night 2-4mg depending on how bad the insomnia is but very rarely during the day. How long have you been taking it? I know that I did not take it for about 4 nights and my heart felt like it was gonna pound out of my chest.
