solumedrol

Avatar f tn I had sepsis in Dec 2010. I spent 3o days in the hospital and 14 days in a skilled nursing home(for antibiotic theropy). I did have a heart attack from it and also it left me with chronic stage 2 kidney diease.
97654 tn?1214348650 I have decided not to do the found of Solumedrol at this time. I have felt better in the past 5 or 6 days than I have in some time and don't want to do something that I know will cause me to feel bad. If I see my MS symptoms getting worse I will reconsider at that point.
1172359 tn?1310667693 i am as of yet undiagnosed, but a recent MRI revealed inflammation in my spinal cord at the end of january. in response to those findings, i underwent a 3-day infusion of solu-medrol in early february. my neuro did not prescribe a tapering dose of oral prednisone and i *strongly* suggest you ask your doctor to do so. from what i have understood from others, a tapering dose of steroids would have made it a hell of a lot easier on me.
649926 tn?1297657780 Erin, I agree with Quixotic 1 Please just go ahead and go to the hospital. There is no use for you to stay at home all weekend in pain. Your so kind to everyone and I just want the best for you. Let me know how your doing.
Avatar n tn Hello I am a 25 year old female and four weeks ago I was diagnosed with optic neuritis, I was admitted to the hospital for 5 days of IV solumedrol therapy (1000 mg a day). After the treatment my vision mostly came back and the eye pain was completely gone. At the same time I also had a burning arm pain in my right arm with numbness and tingling into my fingers. During my hospital stay I had an MRI of my head, which was normal.
Avatar f tn m walking straight up and down (or very nearly) instead of leaning to the right because of the weakness on my left leg. Also the tightness in my muscles in my left leg feels significantly better. Numbess is the same, but the dizziness also seems to be improving so far. I hope it lasts. :-) So quick question: I know steroids can make you susceptible to infections, but has anyone developed a UTI on solumedrol? I had the unmistakable first inklings of one a bit ago.
Avatar f tn Searching, I found you and am excited that there is a group that may actually be able to answer some of my questions. The first thing he wants to do is put me on solumedrol for 5 days, I am not currently in a flair. Any reason I should put myself through that if I am not currently having symptoms?
559187 tn?1330782856 I started a relapse about 3 weeks or so ago and waited, then did 3 days IV Solumedrol, Today was bad and dont feel improvement in my symptoms, if anything they are worse. But I also got sick with diverticulitis right after finishing the IV. And this time on the steroids for me was much worse mentally. Today my left side of face is numb, balance is completely shot, and feel like i have snakes crawling in my calfs as well as spasms in upper inner leg. Yuk!
Avatar f tn Also, pneumonia can recur. Pneumonia if not treated in time can cause sepsis too. Also, sepsis can result in pneumonia. Take care!

645390 tn?1338555377 Yes, the IVSM can cause a fever. When I was on it in July, I had a fever from it - about 100, like you, the red flushed face and neck, hoarse voice, racing heart, shakes, muscle aches, etc. (and I wasn't sick or on the way to getting sick). I called my neuro with my symptoms and she actually made me stop the infusion. This is the 2nd time that I had to stop taking the IVSM. They say that I'm hypersensitive to it for some reason.

Avatar f tn Please trust in God no matter what. My mother died in my arms and it tested the very core of my faith, but I was strengthen by him and turn to Him now that my mother is not here with me. The loss of a baby is devistating and we are here for you if you just want to talk about how you feel.
Avatar f tn "Sepsis" or infection of the newborn infant is caused by bacterial invasion of the amniotic fluid prior to birth. This can occur because the membranes that surround the baby are not totally protective, or can occur after the membranes are ruptured. Also, the longer the membranes are ruptured before the baby is born, the higher the risk of infection. The infection is most often caused by normal bacterial that are present in the mother's birth canal.

Avatar f tn I'm worried I have Sepsis, I currently have a bad infected ingrown toe nail, and I feel generally unwell since yesterday afternoon, so it's now been over 12 hours since I've felt like this. How fast does sepsis progress and if I had it, what would be the symptoms after 12 hours? Thank you in advance!
Avatar f tn t a blockage of the bile duct show up in the CT scan if that were the cause? Having endoscopy in a few days, but still sick and wondering what can be done if the bile duct is the culprit. Thank you in advance for any information you can provide.
97654 tn?1214348650 ve had a horrible experience with Solumedrol as well.....Back in March I had extreme leg and groin numbness and went on IV Solumedrol for 3 days....I had a nasty reaction to it, but it DID take away the numbness and vision problems almost immediately....Well, within 48 hours anyway..... In May the left side of my head and face went numb and because I was visiting the MS Clinic at that time, I declined the Solumedrol treatment.....That numbness didn't go away for 20 days.....
Avatar f tn I am recovering from peumonia and sepsis that put me in ICU for four days. I want to get to the underlying issue. I would like to ask if anyone else has suffered from sepsis and is there a way to find out if my liver caused it? I have had HepC since 1991 and I am genotype 2 2 million viral load.

Avatar f tn My understanding is (and hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong) that IV solumedrol is of the most use within the first weeks of a relapse. In the area where I live, steroid use for relapse is waning. There is quite a bit of research showing the in most cases, the relapse length is only marginally shortened. Given the risks (blood sugar issues, bone density changes), steroids are no longer given automatically. I would consider it if I lost vision.
Avatar f tn My Neuro will only use Solumedrol if there is trouble walking (i.e. needing a cane) or I am having Optic Neuritis with the flare. She "saves" it for really severe relapses. She says that steriods are hard on the body, particularly the bones, so she reserves it for the most severe relapses. Last time I was on them, I started feeling better about 10-14 day after the last IV dose.
