97654 tn?1214348650 ve had a horrible experience with Solumedrol as well.....Back in March I had extreme leg and groin numbness and went on IV Solumedrol for 3 days....I had a nasty reaction to it, but it DID take away the numbness and vision problems almost immediately....Well, within 48 hours anyway..... In May the left side of my head and face went numb and because I was visiting the MS Clinic at that time, I declined the Solumedrol treatment.....That numbness didn't go away for 20 days.....
97654 tn?1214348650 At one point this was happening about 15 times per day. I took a round of Solumedrol (3 days) and began taking 300 mg of Lyrica per day. It now happens 4 or 5 times per week. My doctor prescribed another round of Solumedrol which is scheduled for next week (30 days from the first one). I am trying to decide whether I want to do the 2nd round of Solumedrol. It made me feel horrible and was a miserable 4 or 5 days.
Avatar f tn I had a 4 day Solumedrol drip and then step down pack in February and it made me worse. All my muscles tightened up and I have more pain than I did before. Call it a major fibromyalgia attack. Even now in May, I am still as stiff and woozy as i was after the glucocorticoid therapy. Sigh. Did nothing for me that I can tell. I did sweat a lot during the treatment so maybe i lost a few toxins?
Avatar f tn I felt better with the solumedrol treatment after 2 days - the numbness did recede, but the "wierd" feet feeling didn't go away. My balance improved greatly as well as the other symptoms I was experiencing.
Avatar f tn I was admitted into the hospital for infusion, 2 days of 325 mg solumedrol and 3 days of 1000 mg solumedrol. I was then discharged on another 4 week oral schedule of prednisone of which I'm on week one, 60 mg/day. This second time, the infusion saved my right ear. Or seems to have, so far. It has done nothing for the headache though. After my first Abomb (1000 mg dose), my headache initially did ease up, but not go away. However, it hasn't eased up at all since that one time.
Avatar f tn t stop that abrupty, Im taking Solumedrol 125 mg IV for 5 days and they stop me just like that, its that safe because I can have very severe withdralls :S

749318 tn?1233191768 for an allergic reaction on my face. I heard him tell the nurse to give me 40 mg solumedrol. When I read his notes for my treatment that day she had actually given me 125mg through injection. I am pretty angry and frustrated about this especially when I specifically said to him "I have severe atopic dermititis (eczema) and recurring skin infections and wei gh 98 lbs please give me as little meds as possible.
559187 tn?1330782856 I have only had one experience with the solumedrol and it was like a miracle! I had sudden double vision and trouble walking. I saw the neuro the next day (Friday) and he got me on solumedrol the following Monday. I was on for 5 days in a row. By the end of the third day the double vision was gone and by the end of the fourth day I could read again! I still, two months later, have a little residual nystagmus in my right eye and I need the cane when out and about, but not around the house.
Avatar n tn Hello I am a 25 year old female and four weeks ago I was diagnosed with optic neuritis, I was admitted to the hospital for 5 days of IV solumedrol therapy (1000 mg a day). After the treatment my vision mostly came back and the eye pain was completely gone. At the same time I also had a burning arm pain in my right arm with numbness and tingling into my fingers. During my hospital stay I had an MRI of my head, which was normal.
Avatar f tn Searching, I found you and am excited that there is a group that may actually be able to answer some of my questions. The first thing he wants to do is put me on solumedrol for 5 days, I am not currently in a flair. Any reason I should put myself through that if I am not currently having symptoms?
Avatar f tn I know steroids can make you susceptible to infections, but has anyone developed a UTI on solumedrol? I had the unmistakable first inklings of one a bit ago. I rushed out for cranberry juice and a blueberry smoothie (blueberries are supposed to have the same effect as cranberries, and it's a good excuse for a fruit smoothie!!) and I'm hoping I can keep it at bay this way, but I guess I'll know in a few hours. These things tend to come on fast for me.
1172359 tn?1310667693 I am scheduled Monday to do an IV for three days of Solumedrol. Has anyone else done that and if so, what is your opinion. I am alittle nervous about it.
Avatar f tn Wow, didn't need to get slammed for providing feedback on a drug that has so far proved its usefullness to me in 3 days. I spoke with a number of people who have used both Acthar and SoluMedrol (I've never tried IVSM), and most will never use SoluMedrol again, too many side effects that actually happen vs. few if any on Acthar. This includes one woman who went from wheelchair to walking in 5 days.
Avatar f tn My neuro wants me to consider doing a high dose of Solumedrol one day each month for my secondary-progressive multiple sclerosis. I have done the weeklong blasts of Solumedrol once and had no overt side effects except edginess and that horrible metallic taste in my mouth from the steroids. Just wanted to see what others thought about the experience.
Avatar n tn My job is very demanding and I could not get away to see my neuro, so instead went to an urgent care where they prescribed me a medrol dose pak (21 tabs, 4 mg a piece) followed by an oral prednisone taper. I know this is probably not enough to make a dent in the exacperation, but can't take off an entire day to go to neuro and check into a hospital for the IV medrol. Are there any other options to manage this? Could my oral medrol pak be suffient? thanks!

Avatar f tn I have vasculitis and was in the hospital on 150 mg IV Solumedrol for 1 week and have been on 80mg a day since Oct. 6th. I have the abd bloating, moon face and hump neck and shoulders. I know it is the side effects but was wondering if anyone has any ideas for relief of it. My back hurts as well I do use a heating pad on it and sometimes it helps but the neck, shoulders, and stomach are so uncomfortable. Does anyone do anything that helps with this?
4848471 tn?1372238752 He said I needed three days of solumedrol at 1000 mg each day to close my blood brain barrier and selected Tysabri as the MS drug I will be taking. Frankly, I am more frightened of solumedrol than I am Tysabri,JC virus notwithstanding. So far, I have tried to load up on potassium,a few other basic electrolytes and he told me to get some Pepcid ac to protect my stomach lining. he called me and we discussed that part and he said,"now we're ready to roll.
Avatar m tn My sister (diagnosed with RRMS) had a relapse 3 weeks ago, so she went to the hospital, where she get solu medrol treatment. (3 days 1000 mg/day etc. etc.) Now she take 32 mg/day. Her sympthoms are dissappeared, but after she left the hospital, she experienced some problems, like knee pain, spinal pain, she feel her legs overburdened, and she complained yesterday, when she washed her hands in hot water she feels some tinglings.
400099 tn?1282954864 Technically, any neurological symptom lasting more than 24 hours is considered an exacerbation. Solu-Medrol has proven to shorten the lengths of exacerbations, but has not shown to alter disease course in any way. With that in mind, steroids are completely optional unless there is something life-threatening happening that the steroids may possibly put a halt to. What is life-threatening? Good question, the opinion varies from Doctor to Doctor and patient to patient.
Avatar f tn ve been taking the 10 mg of ambien as I have issues falling asleep, when I was in the hosital on the steriods they gave me 5 mg, as I had prednisone when I got home we discussed it and upped it to 10 mg, which works well for me.
649926 tn?1297657780 Thank you all for your comments and the push that I needed. I called the doctor and went to the hospital. They have me on 5 days of Solumedrol IV 1gram each day. After today's long ordeal it will be out patient and won't be so bad. Does anyone know if that is a big dose? The doctor's made such a big deal about the dose being "huge" that I got a little paranoid until they got my neuro on the phone.
Avatar f tn t help, so I had the 3 day mega dose IV solumedrol. I did not do the tapering off pills, because I was having a reaction to the medicine. Since the end of February my ankles are swollen everyday, all day. I asked my neurologist, and she said it is a side effect of the solumedrol. Any one else experience this.....swollen ankles for so long? When will they return to normal? Help please. Thank you.
Avatar f tn I am currently being treated with 1 gm Solumedrol once/month. I had a three day course last spring and felt AWFUL afterwards. I did eventually feel a bit better overall, so maybe it was worth it. Even the one day dose makes me feel pretty lousy. My sx actually seem to get worse for a few days afterward! I'm not dx, but symptomatically fit the diagnostic criteria (we'll see what the 3T MRI has to say...
