Solumedrol long work

Common Questions and Answers about Solumedrol long work

solumedrol

Avatar f tn Hi Everyone, Like a copper penny, I keep turning up. I haven't been on in a while because I had an exacerbation from the flu shot. Then, Dec. 5 I started IV soluMedrol at home. Nurse came every day and infused me for 3 days, then a nurse followed up with my sugars, etc. for another 4 days. It was great..only way to do it. Ah, but then it gets even better. On Christmas Eve, my family came over and my grandson either had a cold or the flu..By the next night I was sick..
1172359 tn?1310667693 I am scheduled Monday to do an IV for three days of Solumedrol. Has anyone else done that and if so, what is your opinion. I am alittle nervous about it.
Avatar f tn I know steroids can make you susceptible to infections, but has anyone developed a UTI on solumedrol? I had the unmistakable first inklings of one a bit ago. I rushed out for cranberry juice and a blueberry smoothie (blueberries are supposed to have the same effect as cranberries, and it's a good excuse for a fruit smoothie!!) and I'm hoping I can keep it at bay this way, but I guess I'll know in a few hours. These things tend to come on fast for me.
Avatar f tn This concern has been posted awhile back, but wanted to reintroduce it. I had a solumedrol treatment about 4 weeks ago. About 2 weeks later i got chills and my hands started to itch uncontrollably followed later by hives in random places (no pattern to where they were) but mainly arms, stomach, and scalp. Called my neurologist, heard back from his nurse who said there was no way it was related to solumedrol.
Avatar n tn Nancy, I have never heard of using steroids to prevent a relapse. I thought they were used to help lessen the symptoms of a flair. I used them monthly for over a year with Rebif. I also was not given a taper dose. I began with three infusions every four weeks then went to three infusions every four weeks. Nothing slowed my symptoms down. I did use five days of Actar Gel but it didn't work for me. I guess my body just began rejecting the steroids. Long story short I began Tysabri.
195469 tn?1388322888 This is a good drug, but very hard on someone that is prone to high blood pressure and high blood sugar. Her first treatment with Solumedrol, did not seem to work for her, as well as it did for me. My Optic Neuritis (abbreviated- O.N.) was totally gone in 2 weeks. She said her one eye never really went back to normal. Now the other eye starts. Since the beginning of her attack, she has not been in remission yet. This is a long first attack. I pray for a remission.
Avatar f tn Searching, I found you and am excited that there is a group that may actually be able to answer some of my questions. The first thing he wants to do is put me on solumedrol for 5 days, I am not currently in a flair. Any reason I should put myself through that if I am not currently having symptoms?
1468406 tn?1286489142 I just got home. So, if this is going to work, how long can I expect before I see a significant difference? What experiences has everyone here had with Solumedrol? Bare in mind that I'm not diagnosed, so this is a bit of an experiment to try and get me some relief. I have been seriously worried how I would work tomorrow morning (I'm off Mondays and Tuesdays) and I'm hoping I wake up at least somewhat better.
Avatar f tn t help, so I had the 3 day mega dose IV solumedrol. I did not do the tapering off pills, because I was having a reaction to the medicine. Since the end of February my ankles are swollen everyday, all day. I asked my neurologist, and she said it is a side effect of the solumedrol. Any one else experience this.....swollen ankles for so long? When will they return to normal? Help please. Thank you.
Avatar m tn My regular opthamologist confirmed what I thought was going on a week later, we both were in contact with my neurologist the next day, and I was started on SoluMedrol on Feb 25. You guys can probably guess the course of steroids, but it was three days of IV SoluMedrol, followed by a 14-day tapering off with oral prednisone, of which I'm still taking. My question is, when will my normal (or near normal) vision return?
Avatar f tn I had a 4 day Solumedrol drip and then step down pack in February and it made me worse. All my muscles tightened up and I have more pain than I did before. Call it a major fibromyalgia attack. Even now in May, I am still as stiff and woozy as i was after the glucocorticoid therapy. Sigh. Did nothing for me that I can tell. I did sweat a lot during the treatment so maybe i lost a few toxins?
Avatar f tn I am currently being treated with 1 gm Solumedrol once/month. I had a three day course last spring and felt AWFUL afterwards. I did eventually feel a bit better overall, so maybe it was worth it. Even the one day dose makes me feel pretty lousy. My sx actually seem to get worse for a few days afterward! I'm not dx, but symptomatically fit the diagnostic criteria (we'll see what the 3T MRI has to say...
Avatar m tn How long can it take for solumedrol to take effect?
Avatar f tn Does anyone how long it takes for the steroids to level off in your system and how long they stay there?
1740498 tn?1328962585 I had my first course of solumedrol Friday-Tuesday. Last night (Thursday night) I began needing to urinate every 30-60 minutes. Not like tons and tons. But also not my bladder fooling me. And it continues today! I can't get a hold of my @$&#%& neurologist. So of course my question is whether this happens with steroids. Anybody?
1196859 tn?1266134938 Thank you everyone for you info! I feel like I ask a million questions a day here, sorry bout that. It's just nice to be around people who have a clue as to what I'm talking about. Well, not really nice per se. I wish that none of us knew firsthand about this stuff but since we do it's good to have a support group. Misty, that gives me hope that this first major flare might eventually abate.
649926 tn?1297657780 Thank you all for your comments and the push that I needed. I called the doctor and went to the hospital. They have me on 5 days of Solumedrol IV 1gram each day. After today's long ordeal it will be out patient and won't be so bad. Does anyone know if that is a big dose? The doctor's made such a big deal about the dose being "huge" that I got a little paranoid until they got my neuro on the phone.
97654 tn?1214348650 ve had a horrible experience with Solumedrol as well.....Back in March I had extreme leg and groin numbness and went on IV Solumedrol for 3 days....I had a nasty reaction to it, but it DID take away the numbness and vision problems almost immediately....Well, within 48 hours anyway..... In May the left side of my head and face went numb and because I was visiting the MS Clinic at that time, I declined the Solumedrol treatment.....That numbness didn't go away for 20 days.....
Avatar f tn How long does it take for blood sugars to go back to normal after getting off solumedrol? This is 4th day without dose and sugars still elevated - still jittery inside, palpitations, irritable, and hungry. I will not take this stuff again. Still have on pain - didn't even work. I've worked too hard to get weight down and blood sugars to mess it up for 3 days of steroids.
Avatar f tn Wow, didn't need to get slammed for providing feedback on a drug that has so far proved its usefullness to me in 3 days. I spoke with a number of people who have used both Acthar and SoluMedrol (I've never tried IVSM), and most will never use SoluMedrol again, too many side effects that actually happen vs. few if any on Acthar. This includes one woman who went from wheelchair to walking in 5 days.
1002640 tn?1280746685 Back to work, no missed days for 3 weeks, then teh yahoos At work who were sick forget common sense and stand at your desk hacking up a lung and dont even cover their friggin mouths ( I work in a Drs office as a Nurse, so Really Im not a germaphobic) but come on people, have some courtesy for your fellow workers!
