Avatar n tn Was concerned of a risk of Guillain Barre..as the shot covers H1N1 and it also had Thimerosal which is alternate theory for being the cause of gastro problems and allergic reaction.
Avatar f tn I went to the emergency room for tingling in my fingers and toes. I am also experiencing muscle twitching all over my body. I went and had an MRI done and the doctor saw no lesions on my brain. My brain was normal. My concern is, I had a staph infection back in June of 2008 and it seems like this is where it all began. Im wondering if I have an autoimmune disease that could be attacking the nerves in my body...Has anyone heard of guillain barre syndrome or have it?
Avatar m tn my brother has been diagnosed with cipd...it is so awful for him...do symptoms of this mimic other diseases This discussion is related to Guillain Barre or vitamin B12 deficiency and PN?.
Avatar f tn I had a horrendous experience in December (paresthesia, numbness, severe weakness, partial paralysis a week following a virus), which the doctors initially considered to be Guillain Barre Syndrome. Seven months after the 'episode', I still experience agonising electric shock like sensations over my body which are only controlled by a hefty dose of Pregabalin. I have since undergone an EMG and Nerve Conduction Study which showed no abnormalities.
Avatar f tn The symptom is dysesthesia, and while it may lead to nothing, bring up gardasil and possible connection to guillain-barre syndrome. Gardasil is so new that the side-effects are not greatly know and most have been explained off as other things. But, go see him, tell him your symptoms, and mention it. If he thinks there is a connection he will refer you, fast. If he doesn't hear you, ask him for a reference.
Avatar n tn Why is he receiving IVIG? Did he have any fever or infections? If you know about Guillain Barre Syndrome, you must have seen a few patients. The weakness starts in the feet, slowly progressing to the whole of lower limbs and the upper limbs may also get involved. How old is the patient?
Avatar n tn It would make sense to me that your new pain could be related to the Guillain-Barre-Syndrome. I hate to say the obvious but I would report this new symptom to your physician. Take care and please keep in touch.
Avatar f tn Have they tested him for Guillain Barre Syndrome? It sounds a lot like what happened to my step son.
Avatar m tn Could it be Guillain Barre Sydrome? I have tested negative for every STD excluding Herpes. However I did have a cold around 3 weeks ago. If any of you have any idea whats wrong with me please let me know! I am a 20 year old male if that's any help.
Avatar m tn He finally end up in a hospital in Gaithersburg MD (Shady Grove Hospital). At first they thought he had Guillain Barre Syndrome and that was a misdiagnoses. After about a month in Shady Grove the symptoms have gotten worse, all ability to use any muscles are completely gone. He was transferred to Johns Hopkins in Baltimore and has now been in the hospital for about 14 months. He has absolutely no ability to use any of his muscle functions. He has a breathing tube and a tube for feeding.
Avatar n tn My 21 year old sister has had the Guillain Barre Syndrome 3 times. She had it when she was 9 I think, brought on by the chicken pox. She had it again when she was 11 and then once again when she was 19! Now she found out that she is pregnant, by accident! She went to the doctors where she is living now, they aren't familiar with her medical history. The doctor told her that he reccomends and abortion, because she and the baby can die!
Avatar n tn Have you been diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome? I would get this low grade fever issue checked out by a doctor if I were in your shoes. It definitely is affecting your quality of life and it's worth pursuing a proper diagnosis of what's behind it so you can try to treat the underlying problem properly.
Avatar m tn Does this sound like any known HIV experience? HIV is known to be a cause of Guillain Barre, and obviously the other symptoms fit with ARS as well.
Avatar f tn It’s (as far as I can tell, with the limited info I can find) a chronic form of Guillain-Barre’.
Avatar n tn If Guillain Barre were to occur in ARS would it generally occur with other more 'typical' ARS/HIV symptoms or could it also occur on its own with no other symptoms?
Avatar m tn i will start by saying i am a 19 Year old male and i consider myself of a healthy weight and I excersize often i am on this site because the constant anxiety of my symptoms is driving me crazy when im not having symptoms i am having the fear of getting symptoms and every time i've been to the Hospital they just send me home within 3 hours of visiting.
Avatar m tn Your uncle has a history of preceding diarrheal illness, is on ventilatory support, must be more than 40 years. These are poor prognostic indicators in guillain barre syndrome although there are reports of full patient recovery. I hope this is the information you were looking for. I am sure he is receiving the best intensive care and hope that he recovers soon. Hope it helps. You are welcome with any further clarifications.
Avatar f tn I have been treated by a Neurologist for four months. He dx me with Guillain Barre. My reflexes are absent. My CPK levels were low. Also, I had a nerve conduction study that indicated Guillain Barre. However, I have had fasciculations in my legs, feet, and hands for 3 months. My fingers shake. My toes move involuntarily. My legs feel heavy. Should I get a second opinion?
Avatar n tn You may not be suffering from a neuropathy but symptom of something else. Neuropathies are disorders of the nerves themselves, maybe the disorder is elsewhere. Have they given you the run of tests? Blood work, CT scan, MRI, and x-rays? What did they show? I think, considering your condition, who you should see is an immunologist. It sounds like a demyelinating disease, where the immune system or something else is attacking your nervous system.
Avatar m tn My daughter was hospitalized for Guillain Barre syndrome and they did all the IGG/IGM tests for western blot, 2 types of erlichia, lyme, and rocky mtn spotted fever. Is it worth doing the Igenex testing as well? We are in Tennessee.
Avatar f tn s, symptoms beginning 10 years ago, and it is progressing very slowly. 2.5 years ago, he was hospitalized with Guillain-Barre Syndrome. After 5 days in ICU, he was released to my care unable to even ambulate to the toilet. He has received zero healthcare, no meds, no therapy, just told he'd eventually get better. And, he did for a few months. About 9 months post Guillain-Barre onset, he began having severe neuropathy issues. He is in constant, severe pain all over his body.
Avatar f tn Consult a neurologist soon for a complete neurological evaluation including MRI scan brain, EEG, NCV studies. The rubbery legs need to be checked for guillain barre syndrome which is a form of peripheral neuropathy triggered by an acute infection. Ascending paralysis, weakness in feet and hands migrating towards trunk this could become life threatening if muscles of respiration are affected. There is symmetrical weakness with legs feeling rubbery that tend to buckle.
