Avatar f tn Hi there. Im currently 31weeks pregnant and have my GBS test coming up. I realise GBS a std. To be on the safe side i have been tested for all STDS besides trichmonias. I was wondering if i have to nag the docter to test for this aswell or if there was a infection such as this will it show up on my GBS swab test? Thankyou!
Avatar f tn Searching, I found you and am excited that there is a group that may actually be able to answer some of my questions. The first thing he wants to do is put me on solumedrol for 5 days, I am not currently in a flair. Any reason I should put myself through that if I am not currently having symptoms?
Avatar f tn I know steroids can make you susceptible to infections, but has anyone developed a UTI on solumedrol? I had the unmistakable first inklings of one a bit ago. I rushed out for cranberry juice and a blueberry smoothie (blueberries are supposed to have the same effect as cranberries, and it's a good excuse for a fruit smoothie!!) and I'm hoping I can keep it at bay this way, but I guess I'll know in a few hours. These things tend to come on fast for me.
1172359 tn?1310667693 I am scheduled Monday to do an IV for three days of Solumedrol. Has anyone else done that and if so, what is your opinion. I am alittle nervous about it.
Avatar f tn My doctor today told me that she would be doing the GBS test next week, ok my thing is I just bought evening primrose oil to start using tonight both orally and vaginally, for ladies who ve used epo before their gbs test, did u pass it? I am afraid that inserting the epo vaginally might cause bacterial growth, makin me to fail the gbs test next wk. Pls what do u ladies think? Can inserting epo cause bacterial growth?
Avatar m tn Thank you for your comments. I did have plasma exchange after the preferred treatment of Immunoglobulin failed to have any effect on my paralysis. But the plasma exchange did work, and movement returned after about two months of daily plasma exchange. It was weird to see the yellow bottle containing the affected plasma with the GBS in it, and to know that on each day's treatment 1 or 2% of the evil GBS was being taken out.
Avatar n tn I delivered my 4 th baby in the car and I was positive for gbs. My daughter turned out fine. She never got gbs from me.
Avatar f tn I have it. Group B streptococcus (GBS) is a type of bacterial infection that can be found in a pregnant woman’s vagina or rectum. This bacteria is normally found in the vagina and/or rectum of about 25 % of all healthy, adult women. Those women who test positive for GBS are said to be colonized. A mother can pass GBS to her baby during delivery. Which is why we have to have antibiotics during labor.
Avatar f tn My Doctor Told Me I Have GBS ! I'm Scared An I'm Nervous Because I Go To Bathroom To Pea So Much That I Won't Know When My Water Breaks ! I'm So Scared And Nervous !

97654 tn?1214348650 ve had a horrible experience with Solumedrol as well.....Back in March I had extreme leg and groin numbness and went on IV Solumedrol for 3 days....I had a nasty reaction to it, but it DID take away the numbness and vision problems almost immediately....Well, within 48 hours anyway..... In May the left side of my head and face went numb and because I was visiting the MS Clinic at that time, I declined the Solumedrol treatment.....That numbness didn't go away for 20 days.....

429949 tn?1224691579 m sure that a lot of you are familar with GBS syndrome, but has anyone here heard of the rare variant of GBS, Miller-Fisher syndrome? The difference in the two is that GBS most often starts in the feet and goes up, and Miller- Fisher starts in your head and decends down. I have noticed a lot of things in this syndrome that is a lot like my onset. But I am not sure if the white matter lesions are part of this picture. Does anyone know if the white matter lesions can be found in MFS or GBS ?
Avatar m tn Some of the early symptoms of GBS have returned after 4 months of getting better.
Avatar f tn Anyone gbs positive or have been in previous pregnancies? I found out a week ago and although the midwife told me no to worry but i am. What does this mean for my baby?
Avatar n tn I've recently found out I have Gbs and am really worried I'm going to pass it on to my newborn, I've been reading up on it. And it says I have to have antbotics through labour. But just really worried about the infection and just was wondering if anybody else is in the same boat or had it before??
Avatar f tn Group B streptococcus, or GBS, also known as group B strep, is one of many different bacteria that normally live in our bodies. Approximately one third of us "carry" GBS in our intestines without knowing. About a quarter of women also have it in their vagina (RCOG 2003:1). Most don't know it's there, as it doesn't usually cause problems or symptoms. However, in rare cases GBS can cause serious illness and even death in newborn babies.
Avatar f tn I'm gbs positive, 38 weeks &still haven't gotten my cervix checked... could it be BECAUSE I'm GBS positive?
