Avatar f tn Hi. I have had bell's palsy more then 10 times in the last 2 years. Had a mri done and two small spots showed up in the white matter of my brain. I had a lumbar puncture done, still waiting on the results. Could many bell's palsy attacks be a sign for ms? If not what could be causing so many attacks?
Avatar n tn Hi I was wondering if you ever received any answers and if you feel better now. I was diagnosed with gastroparesis in October 2019 and got Bell's Palsy end of February 2020. It's now July and I still have the Bell's Palsy. Just wondering if you have any answers you can share. Thank you.
Avatar m tn Oral hsv1 is linked to Bell's Palsy, not genital. Herpes infects nerve groups, so if you have genital herpes, it doesn't affect your face, and vice versa. There are other causes of Bell's Palsy, though, like Lyme Disease and Epstein-Barr, which causes mono. Yes, hsv1 is the cause for a large number of cases, but it's not the only one. The other thing to note is that the IgG test can miss 30% of hsv1 infections.
923105 tn?1341827649 Debs, It sounds like you mights as well take the Medrol - try it his way and then if it doesn't work out, you can go back and as for the solu-medrol. I'm guessing it is very close- just the "solu" means it is a liquid form (soluble) - again that's just my guess. Sorry you have to tough it out and take the meds - we all are taking stuff we would rather not ingest but do so because we're adults and understand the alternative. :-) Let us know how it goes...
410281 tn?1254229064 My understanding is that true Bell's Palsy is caused by a peripheral nerve problem. But the root of the cranial nerve (is it VII?) is in the brain, and therefore a lesion in this region (maybe the pons?) could cause a CNS version of Bell's Palsy. A close friend of mine has had Bell's Palsy 3 times in 10 years. The doctors can find no obvious cause for her repeated Bell's Palsy, but she has permanent nerv damage on her face.
320873 tn?1253089068 For those of you who have had to get the solu-medrol treatment IV for 5 days, how did this affect you and your body? It has been a couple weeks since I stopped the out-patient treatment for the IV. I am still awake a lot of the time when I should be sleeping. I got about 2 hours of sleep last night, and today, I lay down to rest and I can't still.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with Lupus Nephritus IV , my doctor had me do a 3 day IV treatment of 1g solu Medrol , each, that was a week ago. I was already on prednisone 60 mg a day and right before the treatment Cellcept was added. I am feeling like I got hit by bus ! I read elsewhere that most of my current issues are withdrawal from the Solu Medrol . I was wondering if anyone else has had this treatment and how long it took to feel" normal" ?

Avatar m tn Hi and welcome to our little MS community, I really really like the way your new neurologist (MS specialist) is thinking............he is focused on what 'your' body is telling him ie clinical signs, as well as the various types of symptom you experience, your existing diagnoses and or medical history and not exclusively relying on the MRI to diagnose you. All of which is what any competent neurologist is suppose to do! You said.....
Avatar m tn If my partner just got Bell's palsy should I go get my self checked out for herpes? This discussion is related to Chlamydia and hiv fine but what abt herpes and bells palsy.
Avatar f tn Hi there. That must be upsetting to have this recurring so often. We are not doctors here. We're just patients. There are several potential causes of Bell's Palsy, so I would suggest you bring this up to your doctor in precisely the same way you've mentioned it here. Try and provide them with the timeline of your experience with Bell's Palsy. I hope they are able to provide you with answers!
Avatar f tn Bell's palsy is a form of facial paralysis resulting from a dysfunction of the cranial nerve VII (the facial nerve) causing an inability to control facial muscles on the affected side. Several conditions can cause facial paralysis, e.g., brain tumor, stroke, myasthenia gravis, and Lyme disease. However, if no specific cause can be identified, the condition is known as Bell's palsy.
Avatar f tn i had on hand a solu-medrol had my boyfriend give me inj 1.5cc Im glute but he gave it too me about 1 inch to the left and now i have swelling at the site about the size of a quarter i am a nursing student and try to walk him through it and made sure he aspirated will i be ok???
Avatar f tn Anyone have any ideas how to cope with the solu-medrol headaches? I slept about 3 1/2 hours, nurse is coming back in 2 1/2 for round 2 of the infusion, so have a couple of more days with the headaches.
Avatar f tn Most studies indicate that Bell's Palsy is caused by the inflammation of the facial nerve and this can occur as a result of the herpes virus; even herpes simplex. I see no real connection to Breast Cancer Treatment. On occasion it may well happen to someone who is post-treatment for breast cancer but it is known to affect men and women equally / breast cancer, Chemotherapy or not.
559187 tn?1330782856 I have a quick question for you all... My neurologist says he doesn't want to give me Solu-Medrol for this "flare" because he said it would affect the MRI results as well as the LP if we do it fairly soon. Is what he told me true or is he just making me suffer for no reason? I don't know any better and thought who best to ask than you guys. Thanks so much.
