645220 tn?1233764146 I am a little confused as some people say anything in the crib could cause SIDS you are not even supposed to use a blanket just a sleep sac or swaddler. Others use the sleep positioner. What are your opinions/experiances?
2207301 tn?1340990867 What's this positioner and where can i get it
Avatar n tn we have a newborn and she doesn't like to be left alone, but when she falls asleep on us on her tummy we try and switch her into the bassinet and she starts crying almost immediately... we're scared that if we let her sleep on/with us too much she will never sleep alone... what should we do??
400358 tn?1320234443 with my first, using a simple sleep positioner helped her feel secure- just the cheap ones (under $10) that go along either side of the torso. she liked the feeling of something snug around her.
589779 tn?1235125028 They can be if your baby is a scooter which most babies cant do that for quiet some time. The only risk is if the baby scoots over and presses his face up against the bumper. I used one with my son no problem, I think most people do use them. It is totally up to you but yes, they are considered a risk. I always placed my son in the middle of his crib and make sure the bumper was very tightly fastened to the crib. Noah didn't ever move from the spot I put him in so I wasn't worried.
377493 tn?1356502149 We did not use a sleep positioner but you can buy a breathable sleep positioner to minimize the risk of SIDS. Also, Anna hated her swaddleme so we used a large warm blanket from swaddle designs: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3016263 I think it will work great in Canada.
1222635 tn?1366396286 also i have a sleep positioner that i have her on but she slid down it last night...any suggestions? im too scared to leave her in the crib without something to hold her on her back and she wont sleep without being swaddled so im not sure what to do. i have a video monitor on her and i watch her all the time so if a problem came up id catch it but id rather not risk it.
518733 tn?1333017015 I am in the same boat, except sometimes I can get her to sleep in her pack n play in her sleep positioner...however, she would prefer to sleep in the crease of my arm in bed with me. Its hard, because they are used to us..they know our smell, our warmth, and they feel secure with us.... I am clueless on what you can do it help have her sleep on her own..because I am too in the same boat. Just wanted you to know you are not hte only one!
368461 tn?1291515587 To help a little bit, I do grab her sleep positioner out of her basinet and put her in that. I scoot over to the middle of the bed and clear everything off of where I am going to put her, so there isn't a risk of a blanket or pillow accidentally getting tossed near her. I figure she is only a month old, I still have plenty of time to get her used to sleeping alone. I also try during the day to lay her in her crib or basinet to sleep, to help her get more used to it.
414635 tn?1272217693 I have watched her spit up in her bassinet and her sleep positioner has stains to prove it happened! She just turns her head and spits up and then goes back to sleep. haha I am like "Ok...well I guess you are ok then" Blake is still in her bassinette in our room. Her actual room is right across the hall and we might start putting her in her crib..in her room..so we can sleep without listening to her grunt and scoot around. I don't sleep well at all. I sleep off and on.
435139 tn?1255460391 I used a sleep positioner with my ds, until about 5 months old. I felt comfortable using it because it formed to his body and he never rolled over. Well he got use to having it and then he was WAY to big for it so I have a crib wedge now. It doesnt fit under the sheet like it should so I tie it down real tight with one of those sheet protectors. Then wrap a thin flannel blaket over it.
1346146 tn?1299360497 AND lastly we really didnt get hardly anything off our registry(7 things out of 90) so now we still have to buy a basinet, cosleeper, swing, car seat, stroller, plus a lot of the small stuff like burp rags, sleep positioner, sheets, changing pad and covers, etc. Not trying to sound ungrateful at all by any means, just was a little bummed and have no clue where we are going to get the money to buy all the things we need. Hubby already works 3 jobs and I am a SAHM.
486679 tn?1234575929 Laura, I was also looking into this breathable sleep positioner. I may get it. The only problem is that I like Anna sleeping on her side part the time since her head became kinda flat in the back due to sleeping on her back. As for foods, she tried some rice cereal (not very happy with it), bananas, pears (her favorite so far) and sweet potatoes. I'd like to move on to something less sweet and more healthy next. She is a picky eater though...
7826135 tn?1394734754 So, when I went shopping for my baby girl, some very nice women told me about swaddleMe blankets. She told me that she never got any sleep with her baby before she got some because he would always wake himself up by hitting his face. So, I got some and now I feel better because it lessens lose blankets in the crib and such. And I know your supposed to lay your baby on there backs when its time for bed but I am so terrified of my baby spitting up during the night and not being about to breath.
2020005 tn?1628125976 both of those things are a big no, no over here in aussie, but I understand where your comming from regarding the gap, but onthe otherhand they generally dont move too much and if theyre on their back sleeping it usually no problems, its a hard decision though
1222635 tn?1366396286 i know the normal use for a boppy is to feed your baby..but we lay ariana on it for naps and sometimes when we feed her we just let her lay on it..and she absolutely adores it. she sleeps better on that pillow than anywhere else (with the exception of my chest)...were thinking about putting it in her crib at night and letting her sleep on it.
Avatar f tn I saw a PT and while most everything he did was only a temporary help, we finally found something that helped...a belt/positioner that helped keep my hip stable so it wouldn't rub my iliac nerve. I can't comment about the meds, not having taken any. Hope your PT can help!
Avatar f tn this happened with my son-he had a funny shaped head so I purchased A sleeping positioner which just has cushions on the siDes(baby lays in the middle) so every other night I would slightly angle him one way and then the other night the other way
2207301 tn?1340990867 I had that problem with my son. The 1st weeks hed only sleep with me. I was terrified of lying on him so after a couple of days i decided trying to get him to sleep in his rocker chair or swaddled in his moses basket. It was hard work but i couldnt give in. It was hard cos i was just really tired and i was quite terrified of him sleeping in the bed. I thought at the end of the day hed be safer in his basket or rocker. Unfortunatley it wasnt a battery rocker lol so i had to rock him anyway.
427382 tn?1298209586 The swaddle helps with making her feel secure and the velcro helps me not worry that she will kick out of it and smother herself. She also has a sleep positioner in her bassinet but she can scoot out of it haha. We just put the bassinet right up against our bed and I started out feeding her until she was asleep and then put her in there...now we can put her in there awake and she is fine. I think anything you do you have to realize it takes time for them to get use to it.
467126 tn?1283144858 Get the head positioner...they work nicely and you can get them for $6.99 at places like walmart, tjmaxx, ross, etc. In one of our cars we had to roll up a bath towel and push it down into the crack of the seat to get the base to lean up a little more. Are you using the latch system? That's the best thing to use because you can get the base in there super tight. Some people have cut a pool noodle or they even sell a black foam tube that can be used for the same purpose.
554628 tn?1362777919 Last night she cried for over 30 minutes before falling asleep. We also have a sleep positioner like Cyrena was talking about. She seems to like it most the time, but she ends up scooting herself down to where her shoulders are between the wedges where her bottom is supposed to be. I haven't tried the boppy in her bed, but i guess anything is worth a try!!
94902 tn?1330479667 I haven't actually looked into mattress wrapping but I did buy fitted crib sheets and a sleep positioner for my little one. While I'm glad nothing happened in any of the cases Kisstin mentioned, dr's warn against allowing babies to sleep on their bellies for a very good reason. SIDS isn't always the result of babies sleeping on their bellies but every precaution should be taken.
1085681 tn?1280176627 If my baby desides he wants to be a pain in the butt and not sleep in his pack n play, I let him sleep in his bouncy, that thing gets him to bed everytime, i just turn the vibration on and bounce him till he falls asleep. There alot safer then a carseat. Just on the news not to long ago a mother dropped her baby off at darecare, and he was still sleeping so the woman in charge just left him in the carseat. when she went to check on him he wasnt breathing, he had died in his carseat.
