Skelaxin metaxalone 800mg

Common Questions and Answers about Skelaxin metaxalone 800mg

skelaxin

Avatar m tn Neither Skelaxin (metaxalone) nor Celebrex (celecoxib) cause dependence. Your body will not crave either medication. You will not develop tolerance to either medication, nor will you suffer withdrawal symptoms in their absence. The usual dose of Skelaxin is 800mg every 6 to 8 hours (three or four times a day). Do not exceed the maximum daily dose, and don't mix Skelaxin with alcohol, barbiturates, or other CNS depressants.
Avatar f tn I just got switched to metaxalone 800mg and i cant say if they are better or worse than flexeril as they dont seem to affect me either. I am afraid to take more than two since they are 800mg but it might affect me, if it doesnt work i think i will switch back to flexeril as i feel safer taking a higher dose, honestly just because of the size of the metaxalone pills, which i know means nothing but I heard flexeril is the strongest so if something will help maybe that will.
Avatar n tn I have had some kind of cold/flu, sinusitis (all in one) for about three weeks. Finally I went to the doctor she prescribes antibiotics, anticough medicine etc. I also developed somehow a muscle spams around my neck aparently due to excesive coughing. The pain became the worst ever to the point of tears. The doctor prescribed skelaxin 800mg, it didn't help, then I added 400mg Advil.. The pain somehow got better, but still there. So Went for Motrin 800mg with Skelaxin, didn't help.
Avatar f tn Having some very bad lower back pain today that tylenol isn't touching. I was wondering about Skelaxin. I have some and have taken it in the past...but don't even remember side effects or how I felt taking it or anything. Is this addictive?Anybody know anything about it? Thanks!
Avatar m tn My doc just gave me Skelaxin for my back pain and said it might help. I have been trying to cut back taking hydro and I don't want to take anything that is going to make me woosey. I started into therapy last week and it is really making my back hurt. The nurosurgeon I saw said I have from L-1 to S-1 messed up and he does not think surgery would help any. So he just said take the hydro because your not taking that many (only 3 a day 7.
402205 tn?1230481005 I will try to avoid them right now tho because they make me sluggish and I am already fatigued with my cut in dose of hydrocodne..anything can be abused...skelaxin is a fairly safe muscle relaxer.....
Avatar m tn Thanks LazyMoose, gosh, I took a quarter pill(800mg) of Skelaxin and it was a yummy feeling and that's what scared me. I felt really goooooood. But yeah the other day I could not sleep at all cause I had really really strong muscle spasm/twitch. Not sure what the difference is since all this is new happenings. But yeah I might do a quarter skelaxin once or twice a week here and there to help me sleep, I deserve a break I think. hehe. ordered a theracane from amazon.com.
Avatar m tn Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum. I am glad to see u joined us here...and I am sure those with this condition will pop on and comment. We do have Health Pages with info as well......http://www.medhelp.org/forums/search/257?query=syringohydromyelia and this link is to some threads on this topic. Glad to have u here, sorry for the reason that brought u.
Avatar f tn However, I do not see any way to do that without putting the fetus at risk from medication. Currently I am seeing a pain manager who has me on oxycotnin 30mg BID, Skelaxin 800mg, and Flector patches. I want to know how it would be handled if I were pregnant. I'm sure I am not the only woman in the world who has back problems like these and want to have more children. Please share what information you may have about such situations. Thank you.
Avatar m tn http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Chiari-Malformation/show/257?camp=msc Hi U may want to post in the chiari forum as we have members with syringomyelia....and syringohydromyelia too and they may be able to offer u some advice.
Avatar f tn Celexa 20 mg 1x at night Bentyl 20 mg 1x Pepcid 20 mg x2 Phenergan 25mg as needed Skelaxin 800mg 1/2 x3 as needed (I just filled a different muscle relaxer that is not as strong. With fatigue I am having a hard time finding one that will not put me to sleep.) Lyrica 50mg x1 (I have not taken that for long. I did a trial and it helped, but very expensive). Thank you for your reply. Your input is greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn I don't think that amount of wine alone would elevate you enzymes but with the drugs you're taking I really don't know. I believe that Skelaxin may be associated with elevated liver enzymes is some people but again, I am not sure of this. I would Google all of the drugs you're taking with the word "liver" or "hepatic" eg "Skelaxin Liver".
Avatar f tn oh and broke down and took a muscle relaxer. skelaxin. this shouldn't be a problem right? found an old script. ibuprofen was not cutting it.
Avatar m tn X-ray revealed nothing, and I have been through chiropractic and physical therapy with marginal relief at best ( ~ 24 hours.) medications used include metaxalone, valium and ibuprofen. stiffness has remained constant, w/ a reduced ROM when flexing my neck laterally. I also occasionally experience shooting pain up the left side of my neck when i rotate my head in that direction. Neck remains inflamed and "cracks" often.
747493 tn?1249589956 i am sorry i don't really have any advice for pain relief....i won't take pain meds and all i will take is motrin 800mg which helps very little...i do take metformin for diabetes and it makes me feel like i have the stomach flu everyday...so if you have ibs then it may be upsetting your stomach even worse because it kills me...but i have tried others and they all lower my blood sugar too much..i do not know what pcos...but i take it for type 2 diabetes...
Avatar m tn The muscle relaxer the dr gave me is Skelaxin. Anybody else ever try this. I read on drug ******* the reviews and some people said it really helped without making them dizzy like most of them do. Man I sure hope it helps so I can keep weening off the hydros.
Avatar m tn Anyone know anything about skelaxin? My doc just sent a script for that To my pharmacy in place of soma....
450140 tn?1317947304 Today, my neuro suggested i try SKELAXIN (muscle relaxer) for the spasams I am experiencing. I will start those tomorrow. It says take 3x a day, every 8 hours. And if need be a 4th one can be taken. Does this sound right ........every 8 hours?? Please tell me what you think. I pray that everyone is doing ok. This limboland is really taking its toll on me and my family. Have not worked since Jan. that is putting a strain on us finacially. Not to mention, all the worry about my health.
Avatar f tn As the result of a back injury in February, I began taking Soma and 10 mgs of hydrocodone at night to help me sleep. I took no pain killers during the day, just Skelaxin. I stopped taking Skelaxin several weeks ago and am now in the process of discontinuing the Hydrocodone. I took the last Soma and 1/2 of a 5 mg tablet several nights ago. This is my second round with trying to get off this med. The problem is the insomnia or sleeplessness that occurs in the middle of the night.
Avatar m tn Felt bump and determined was musculoskeletal. Prescribed anti-inflammatory (Naproxen) and muscle relaxer (Skelaxin). Told me to take as needed (didn’t have to take the full bottle). Took prescriptions for 4 days, Skelaxin caused stomach cramping even when taken as directed. Urine test came back cloudy with high white blood cell count. Concluded was very dehydrated and sent off for tests to determine if infection was present. Also had me go in for blood tests.
Avatar m tn As I was refiling my prescription the other day I was informed by my pharmacist that the acyclovir 400mg will not be available for another 2 month and they only have either the 800mg tablets or 200mg capsules. My question is A-should I take the 200mg capsules 2x2 daily or B-should I take the 800mg 1x daily or C- can I just get the 800mg tablet and split in half and take an half tablet 2x daily. What would be the most effective solution?
Avatar f tn depakote, solu-cortef (hydrocortisone), zofran (not sure why...
Avatar n tn I unfortunately have oral and genital herpes (I've only had one partner so, yes, it only takes once!). Anyway, I keep reading that for suppression valtrex is once a day and acyclovir is 400 mg twice a day. My dr prescriped 800mg once a day. What's the difference, why would someone take acyclovir twice a day when they could just take it once? Is there an advantage to taking it twice a day? My second question is that when I am having an outbreak should I increase the dosage?
Avatar f tn I feel like 75mg of Lyrica is nowhere near covering the 800mg of Gabapentin I was taking. So now he changed it to 75mg/2x a day of Lyrica and 800mg/2x a day of Gabapentin to be taken together. Everything I've read says not to take them together. Sorry for the long post, it's my first one and I'm in a lot of pain. Just wondering if anyone had any insight on this?
