Skelaxin habit forming

Common Questions and Answers about Skelaxin habit forming

skelaxin

Avatar f tn I did get it from my doctor!! It was just a long time ago and I don't remember whether it worked for me (doubt it did since the bottle is just about full), or any side effects. Also was wondering if it is addictive...I couldn't find that info online, nothing I read mentioned it being habit forming. At any rate, I am going to try to just take OTC meds for a while...and hope they work. I'd like to not be on anything pain related that is a prescription, if possible.
Avatar f tn amitryptilline in small doses helps me sleep if i just take it here and there...not habit forming but if u take it every night u get kinda used to it...my brother takes it for migraines and i have it prescribed for back pain...also an AD in higher doses...hang in there...
Avatar m tn There are several muscle relaxers that are not habit forming and work for that issue. Let us know how you are doing and what you decided.
Avatar m tn I agree Valium one of the best, although it seems like Dr's don't like prescribing it much anymore. Tizanadine is okay too, I think it's better than the others you listed, I've tried them all too.
Avatar m tn I just got back from therapy and man does it hurt during the process. I may try it for a week or so. Do you know if it habit forming?
402205 tn?1230481005 Most muscle relaxers are not too terribly physically habit forming..of course anything can be mentally...I think my friend is hooked on benadryl! I have taken 5 mg flexeril for chronic back pain for years and never had any problems with it...I will try to avoid them right now tho because they make me sluggish and I am already fatigued with my cut in dose of hydrocodne..anything can be abused...skelaxin is a fairly safe muscle relaxer.....
442042 tn?1205707694 Skelaxin is not habit forming as a rule...may help...
Avatar f tn Ellie is right that about different drugs not working. I've never tried Skelaxin but I am under the impression it's similar to flexeril and soma. Flexeril offers me a small amount of relief, and soma offers me about 10x that amt however I developed an addiction to the soma and had to get off of it. my pain mgmt doctor has suggested Voltaren Gel (also called "diclofenac", it's an NSAID) and it goes on the skin. I have to take ambien or unisom to sleep most nights.
612205 tn?1225594910 I don't know if it's habit forming, but my doctor thought about putting me on neurotin for nerve pain. She said it works really well for that.
Avatar m tn Oh, and milk would not be "habit forming.
Avatar m tn I am prescribed Celebrex and skelaxin. I have a question about the skelaxin. Well my job is physically demanding I work in a hospital I do patient care I "boost" patients, transport patients, help very unsteady patients get out of bed and walk. So quite often I need to take my skelaxin. My lower back tightens up and I just need some relief. I have been taking it a bit more often than I did say 6 months ago.
Avatar n tn benzos like xanax, valium and klonopin are not designed to be sleeping meds and anything u use for sleep can be psychologically habit forming but benzos are physically habit forming as well....dalmane and restoril are 2 benzos made for sleep...habit forming tho....maybe break ur pills into quarters or thirds...and go down a small piece each week...OTC meds like valerian root or melatonin may help..tylenol pm...
Avatar n tn I'm looking for a relatively mild, non-habit-forming, liver-friendly sleep aid, either prescription or over-the-counter. Is there anything out there that you all have had success with? Thanks much in advance.
Avatar m tn I am not sure how many of you are familiar with, or are looking for a non habit forming sleep aid. My doctor put me on a drug called Trazadone when I was going through Sub W/D's. It is actually an anti depressant and one of the side effects is it knocks you out. So it is a tremendous sleep aid, especially when you are suffering from chronic RLS and other annoying side effects of withdrawals.
Avatar f tn So I have this problem that if I have a skin abnormality, I have to pick it until it bleeds. I had a raised red spot on my inner thigh, and I thought it could've been a pimple forming. It was a wider area than a pimple would've taken up, though. I scratched, squeezed, and picked until I broke the skin. There was no tingling, and it's not that painful. However, there was clear fluid coming out of it. Could that have been herpes blisters forming?
Avatar f tn Ambien can be habit forming if taken long enough it relaxes so you can sleep. Percocet is very habit forming, mixing these drugs with out your Dr. advice may be dangerous so you may need to see him or her. Tapering will be your best way to slow down the dosage, dont try to quit cold turkey it could do you more harm than go. Get help let us no how your doing.
Avatar f tn Nope!Wellbutrin is neither habit forming nor mood altering!
Avatar n tn it was originally advertised as not being habit forming but it affects the same receptors as narcotics do...tram also has an antidepressant componenet which makes wd even more difficult due to the depression factor during detox...it is supposedly not "as" habit forming as other narcotics like hydrocodone or oxycodone if taken as prescribed...but the drug is often abused and therefore habitforming..and can be at the recommended dose as well if addiction is a problem...
Avatar m tn Is the clonidine habit forming. My pain doctor will prescribe it, but my family doctor prescribed Valium for the anxiety, I was having heart palpitations from the anxiety. I'm hesitant to take the Valium, since it can be habit forming.
Avatar f tn You can try taking things like Tylenol PM. You dont always have to go to the heavier drugs. It worked for me when I went cold turkey... It helps you relax and helps you sleep well. Most of all its least likely thing to be habit forming. You can also try xanax, thats what i've now been taking its an anti anxiety medicine helps with RLS and sleep and anxiety. But that is easily habit forming. I wish you luck!
792787 tn?1259877840 first off, congrats on day 8, seems like the worst part is behind you!!! second, i'm not a doc, but I'm pretty dure your body naturally produces Melatonin, so I dont think it's bad for you to take. I dont think it's habit forming like those prescription sleep pills. Same with the Magnesium... You're doing Great!
Avatar f tn Is it an OTC aide or prescribed? Have you tried melatonin? Its totally natural and non habit forming. It worked great for me the first week or so during and after detox. Sleep has gotten better for me but still reach for them here and there. You can find them in the vitamin isle and there not too pricey. A little excersise followed by a hot bath with epsom salts especially if you have restless legs can work wonders to promote sleep.
Avatar m tn It has always said that it was habit forming ..Its nothing new exempt more people are taking the time to get the insert info .
418155 tn?1205409893 so its not habit forming? should this be something I should ask my ortho about?
