Skelaxin for headaches

Common Questions and Answers about Skelaxin for headaches

skelaxin

Avatar m tn I wake up in the middle of the night with it (which I never have done before). Headaches are common for me, but usually hormonal so I know when they are coming and I know when they will be gone for the most part. This headache is different - most of mine are located at the front or sides of my head and this one is in the back to the top of my head. I have taken muscle relaxers, migraine meds, prednisone (6 days) and more and more Skelaxin.
Avatar m tn Hi about a year ago a had an injury at work that caused 2 herniated disks. I did the physical therapy for a while than realized I can do most of the pt stuff at home or at the gym. I am prescribed Celebrex and skelaxin. I have a question about the skelaxin. Well my job is physically demanding I work in a hospital I do patient care I "boost" patients, transport patients, help very unsteady patients get out of bed and walk. So quite often I need to take my skelaxin.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with a transfer migraine last August. It started on Aug 1st and hasn't left me since. It's been an agonizing 6 months. It's called transfer migraine because it moves all over my head. I've never had one of those common migraines where the light bothers me or I get nauseated or see auras, etc. My migraines have been "light" headaches that stay with me for a few days: from 3 to five days at the most.
Avatar f tn Presented to ER with severe headahce (worst in my lifetime) eye pain and vision loss, red hot stiff neck, fever and general lack of energy. Was on prednisone for 3 months and Skelaxin (muscle relaxant). I am much better but still having weird head pains (feels like my brain is sloshing around) neck pain on right side with tenderness right under the ear, and eye pain (both eyes feel sore behind the socket). No longer on any meds but still having symptoms that no one can diagnosis.
Avatar n tn I have had some kind of cold/flu, sinusitis (all in one) for about three weeks. Finally I went to the doctor she prescribes antibiotics, anticough medicine etc. I also developed somehow a muscle spams around my neck aparently due to excesive coughing. The pain became the worst ever to the point of tears. The doctor prescribed skelaxin 800mg, it didn't help, then I added 400mg Advil.. The pain somehow got better, but still there. So Went for Motrin 800mg with Skelaxin, didn't help.
Avatar n tn I am being followed for possbile demylinating lesions in the brain. My recent cervical MRI shows increasing disk bulge; C4-C5 w/10 mm bulge and C5-C6 with a 9 mm bulge. My L5-S1 has a broad-based disk bulge with postrior annular fissure with no canal or foraminal stenosis. As I am intolerant to heat, I wanted to continue exercising with a reumbant bike inside. I was doing fairly well, up to 10 miles daily in 45 minutes.
Avatar n tn capsules 300mg 1xd for fibromyalgia, Prilosec 1xd for uclers, Celebrex 1xd for inflammation causing chronic pain, Skelaxin,400mg 2-4xweek, Addarall 50mg daily for ADD, Foltrin bid for anemia, Estrovent for hot flashes, an most recently I am being bolased with 5000u Vit. D due to vit D deficiency and liquid calicium 1000mg with 400mg vit D. I have never been much of a drinker, if i had 5 drinks/year that was a lot.
Avatar f tn Hi and sorry about your neck/back injury. Flexeril does work a lot better. I was on it for 9 months. It wasn't too hard to get off of. Skelaxin didn't work as well for me either but did work some as I felt it after I got of of it. For short term I would take Flexeril at night (5mg). Apparently Skelaxin doesn't work for you.Flexeril only works for 3 weeks then it is a sleeping pill really. I would go on an off as needed.
Avatar m tn My doc just gave me Skelaxin for my back pain and said it might help. I have been trying to cut back taking hydro and I don't want to take anything that is going to make me woosey. I started into therapy last week and it is really making my back hurt. The nurosurgeon I saw said I have from L-1 to S-1 messed up and he does not think surgery would help any. So he just said take the hydro because your not taking that many (only 3 a day 7.
Avatar f tn I have been getting an aura in both eyes (like a migraine aura with no headache that lasts about 15minutes to a half hour) since I was told to increase my neurontin, daily, but I was also put on Celebrex and Skelaxin at the same time. I've been off of Skelaxin since March 2010. I went off of Celebrex first as I read an article that was in a New Zealand journal of medicine that said it causes rare (9/300 people) visual disturbance.
Avatar f tn s like they are on fire hurting. stiff neck and all. was taking the tram for degenerative disk disease in the neck so i was wondering, is this a symptom of w/d? or is this the pain that i am to endure after being clean? this *****.
Avatar m tn Take the pills and try the therapy and message for awhile and then let us know how your doing. I had got down to 1 1/2 a day through my weening process but my back was hurting the whole time. I think I am still going to try to keep cutting back and see if I can quit when I can take a few days off work. Just thought I would let ya'll know where I am and how disappointed I am that the dr said he could not fix it for me.
450140 tn?1317947304 Today, my neuro suggested i try SKELAXIN (muscle relaxer) for the spasams I am experiencing. I will start those tomorrow. It says take 3x a day, every 8 hours. And if need be a 4th one can be taken. Does this sound right ........every 8 hours?? Please tell me what you think. I pray that everyone is doing ok. This limboland is really taking its toll on me and my family. Have not worked since Jan. that is putting a strain on us finacially. Not to mention, all the worry about my health.
Avatar m tn 1:) the pain/nerve issues that I have, weather from the injury etc. 2:) My OCD nature, and anxiety are not helping. I have always been llike this, just in this case it is not helping me. I am trying the best I can to step back and take it easy but then the pain kicks in and down the crap shoot I go. He also thinks that it will help restore my balance, then ween off of it. I hate hate hate drugs. Especially after the research I did early on with Cymbalta...! ugh.
Avatar f tn For about six weeks now I have had a constant headache. I have had about a seven year history with what I thought were migraines. Previously, I would get a 'migraine' about 1-2 times/month and I would take an Imitrex and try and sleep it off. Over winter break, I got a headache and it stuck with me ever since. Here is a bit of history...
Avatar f tn My dad was taking Skelaxin and when he would take it he would be a little messed up. My dad quickly stopped taking it and they put him on Effexor which caused some side effects such as dizziness, insomnia, and upper respiratory problems. Never taken them personally, but that is what I have heard. I would immagine those would also be addictive also, maybe not as bad, but still dependence would set in. GOOD LUCK ...
Avatar f tn soma is addictive so it is good u r quitting...melatonin works for many...valerian root works best for me...everyone is different...there are lots of sleep meds/supps on the market so i doubt u r alone in the sleep issue thing....amitryptilline in small doses helps me sleep if i just take it here and there...not habit forming but if u take it every night u get kinda used to it...my brother takes it for migraines and i have it prescribed for back pain...also an AD in higher doses...hang in there.
402205 tn?1230481005 Hi everyone, I have a question. I am 13 days clean from hydrocodones (about 4-8 a day for 4 months). I just had a car accident and don't want to take anything for the pain. I was wondering about muscle relaxers. I've never had a problem taking them before. Should I take them? Will it make me relapse? Any help would be appreciated!
Avatar m tn Told me to take as needed (didn’t have to take the full bottle). Took prescriptions for 4 days, Skelaxin caused stomach cramping even when taken as directed. Urine test came back cloudy with high white blood cell count. Concluded was very dehydrated and sent off for tests to determine if infection was present. Also had me go in for blood tests. All came back normal except Vitamin D. Advised to take 1000mg of Vitamin D per day. Follow up appt. set for 7/10 where they will do a urine test again.
585414 tn?1288941302 I understand some of these questions are complex but given that the tardive conditions cause respiratory convulsions and myoclonic spasms any idea that its been of some use would be of great help to me.
Avatar f tn I have always been prone to headaches, pre-menstrual migraine & TMJ (disc displacement). Over the past few years I have developed tinnitus with some high frequency hearing loss. I've recently had several ocular migraines, no pain but my vision is so distorted I have to go to bed. Now my headaches cause brow swelling and tenderness, even more painful is the pain, tightness and feeling of swelling at the top of my head. It is right where the fontanelle or soft spot in a baby would be.
1066074 tn?1268318949 Hi Everyone, I'm new to this forum and have cried after reading all of your posts. It's upsetting and maddening that most of you were promised relief with surgery, only to be disappointed or worse off than before. It would seem that the doctors are straight out lying to people about the general outcome of surgery. I was told it had a 90% success rate by my doctor. According to all the people on these blogs, I would say it's more like a 99% failure rate!
