I have had some kind of cold/flu, sinusitis (all in one) for about three weeks. Finally I went to the doctor she prescribes antibiotics, anticough medicine etc. I also developed somehow a muscle spams around my neck aparently due to excesive coughing. The pain became the worst ever to the point of tears. The doctor prescribed skelaxin 800mg, it didn't help, then I added 400mg Advil.. The pain somehow got better, but still there. So Went for Motrin 800mg with Skelaxin, didn't help.
Hi about a year ago a had an injury at work that caused 2 herniated disks. I did the physical therapy for a while than realized I can do most of the pt stuff at home or at the gym. I am prescribed Celebrex and skelaxin. I have a question about the skelaxin. Well my job is physically demanding I work in a hospital I do patient care I "boost" patients, transport patients, help very unsteady patients get out of bed and walk. So quite often I need to take my skelaxin.
1:) the pain/nerve issues that I have, weather from the injury etc.
2:) My OCD nature, and anxiety are not helping. I have always been llike this, just in this case it is not helping me. I am trying the best I can to step back and take it easy but then the pain kicks in and down the crap shoot I go.
He also thinks that it will help restore my balance, then ween off of it.
I hate hate hate drugs. Especially after the research I did early on with Cymbalta...! ugh.
I have had a headache for now 31 days in a row without any real relief. It started out (I think) with a stiff neck- Couldn't touch chin to chest) and the same day I started with a headache. They almost follow a pattern everyday, I wake up with it, it gets better after I'm up for awhile and almost gone into afternoon, but around 4 pm comes back and keeps going for the rest of the night (almost worse when I lay down).
capsules 300mg 1xd for fibromyalgia, Prilosec 1xd for uclers, Celebrex 1xd for inflammation causing chronic pain, Skelaxin,400mg 2-4xweek, Addarall 50mg daily for ADD, Foltrin bid for anemia, Estrovent for hot flashes, an most recently I am being bolased with 5000u Vit. D due to vit D deficiency and liquid calicium 1000mg with 400mg vit D.
I have never been much of a drinker, if i had 5 drinks/year that was a lot.
Hi and sorry about your neck/back injury. Flexeril does work a lot better. I was on it for 9 months. It wasn't too hard to get off of. Skelaxin didn't work as well for me either but did work some as I felt it after I got of of it. For short term I would take Flexeril at night (5mg). Apparently Skelaxin doesn't work for you.Flexeril only works for 3 weeks then it is a sleeping pill really. I would go on an off as needed.
My doc just gave me Skelaxin for my back pain and said it might help. I have been trying to cut back taking hydro and I don't want to take anything that is going to make me woosey. I started into therapy last week and it is really making my back hurt. The nurosurgeon I saw said I have from L-1 to S-1 messed up and he does not think surgery would help any. So he just said take the hydro because your not taking that many (only 3 a day 7.
s like they are on fire hurting. stiff neck and all. was taking the tram for degenerative disk disease in the neck so i was wondering, is this a symptom of w/d? or is this the pain that i am to endure after being clean? this *****.
Hi and welcome! I'm sorry about all the pain you're having to deal with. If I understand your post, you're taking percoset, klonopin and skelaxin? Did I miss any?
Percoset is a strong drug in itself, klonopin is an anti anxiety and skelaxin is a muscle relaxer. If you're wanting to stop the medications and stick with physical therapy, I would TAPER off of them one at a time. We can't recommend tapering schedules here, but I would start with the percoset.
Like most I have always had general back pain I had several surgeries a few years ago where I was in the hospital 2 weeks with gallstones that dissolved and part of the sludge entered my pancreas that ate a hole through it causing 10 litters of fluid to build up behind my lungs. They basically cut me sternum to spine that & used a rib splitter. it causes pain under my breast still. Then last year was in a car accident that caused bulging discs to hit nerves in my lumbar and cervical.
Take the pills and try the therapy and message for awhile and then let us know how your doing. I had got down to 1 1/2 a day through my weening process but my back was hurting the whole time. I think I am still going to try to keep cutting back and see if I can quit when I can take a few days off work.
Just thought I would let ya'll know where I am and how disappointed I am that the dr said he could not fix it for me.
Fiorecet, Imitrex, topomax, effexor, lortab, skelaxin, and others. We have been the migrane route, the cluster route, and the tension route. I have had a CT that came back normal, Blood work to rule out infection, hormonal causes, pregnancy, thiroid issues, and other general causes.
I am having issues functioning at my job and in my life. These headaches are terrible and very frustrating. Any ideas?
My dad was taking Skelaxin and when he would take it he would be a little messed up. My dad quickly stopped taking it and they put him on Effexor which caused some side effects such as dizziness, insomnia, and upper respiratory problems. Never taken them personally, but that is what I have heard. I would immagine those would also be addictive also, maybe not as bad, but still dependence would set in.

soma is addictive so it is good u r quitting...melatonin works for many...valerian root works best for me...everyone is different...there are lots of sleep meds/supps on the market so i doubt u r alone in the sleep issue thing....amitryptilline in small doses helps me sleep if i just take it here and there...not habit forming but if u take it every night u get kinda used to it...my brother takes it for migraines and i have it prescribed for back pain...also an AD in higher doses...hang in there.
Told me to take as needed (didn’t have to take the full bottle). Took prescriptions for 4 days, Skelaxin caused stomach cramping even when taken as directed. Urine test came back cloudy with high white blood cell count. Concluded was very dehydrated and sent off for tests to determine if infection was present. Also had me go in for blood tests. All came back normal except Vitamin D. Advised to take 1000mg of Vitamin D per day. Follow up appt. set for 7/10 where they will do a urine test again.
I was diagnosed with a transfer migraine last August. It started on Aug 1st and hasn't left me since. It's been an agonizing 6 months. It's called transfer migraine because it moves all over my head. I've never had one of those common migraines where the light bothers me or I get nauseated or see auras, etc. My migraines have been "light" headaches that stay with me for a few days: from 3 to five days at the most.
How does this happen? I am only 22 years old. I've never had back problems before (other then hurting when I'm on the computer too long) And there is no specific incident I remember happening for a back injury to occur. I've been dealing with it going on 4 weeks now and it seems to be getting worse.
I'm taking Flexeril and it works about as good as eating a jelly bean.
I just want to make sure this is muscular and not something internal like organs or something.
but i am at my wits end!!! Any help or suggestions??? Injections to get me through pt? best pill for anxiety,pain? Was given valium for spasms, does not help for that, but does calm me slightly. Ultram takes edge off. Could anxiety and stress cause all of this, to the point of becoming an invalid? One year ago I was an active functioning inividual who walked or worked out everyday. I admit I never had any muscle tone even before all of this....did it all just catch up to me????
New here and after looking around decided I might try to reach out for some advice. Chronic pain is the hardest thing to get someone to understand unless of course they have been through it.
Background: Began with a spine issue, assorted lower back pain and such years ago. I saw my gp, had an MRi turned out to have minor bulges, arthirtis and a bunch of other small things I can't remember.
