Common Questions and Answers about Skelaxin class

skelaxin

Avatar f tn Having some very bad lower back pain today that tylenol isn't touching. I was wondering about Skelaxin. I have some and have taken it in the past...but don't even remember side effects or how I felt taking it or anything. Is this addictive?Anybody know anything about it? Thanks!
Avatar m tn Soma is not a narcotic. It is a class 4 controlled substance in the U.S. as of 2012, but belongs to a class of medications called muscular skeletal relaxants. It's generic name is carisoprodol with a maximum tablet of 350mg. Being a controlled substance ID is required right pick it up from the pharmacy and fill dates are very closely monitored.
Avatar m tn I am prescribed Celebrex and skelaxin. I have a question about the skelaxin. Well my job is physically demanding I work in a hospital I do patient care I "boost" patients, transport patients, help very unsteady patients get out of bed and walk. So quite often I need to take my skelaxin. My lower back tightens up and I just need some relief. I have been taking it a bit more often than I did say 6 months ago.
Avatar m tn Hi & Welcome, I was prescribe Soma for many yers-I have 5 herniated disk, DDD, sciatica and Arthritis in my back. I get muscle spasms that are horrendous. The Soma DID work for me. Recently the FDA classified it as a narcotic, or at least put it in the same class. If you don't have muscle problems I would not take it. It is habit forming. Again, it is ONLY for muscle spasms or any other muscle problem. It will NOT help with the pain in your back.
Avatar n tn I don't think that amount of wine alone would elevate you enzymes but with the drugs you're taking I really don't know. I believe that Skelaxin may be associated with elevated liver enzymes is some people but again, I am not sure of this. I would Google all of the drugs you're taking with the word "liver" or "hepatic" eg "Skelaxin Liver".
Avatar m tn My doc just gave me Skelaxin for my back pain and said it might help. I have been trying to cut back taking hydro and I don't want to take anything that is going to make me woosey. I started into therapy last week and it is really making my back hurt. The nurosurgeon I saw said I have from L-1 to S-1 messed up and he does not think surgery would help any. So he just said take the hydro because your not taking that many (only 3 a day 7.
Avatar f tn t take during the day,as I have small kids and it made me VERY sleepy!) Then I was put on Skelaxin and I feel like that does nothing( 800mg. 3x day) I could take 2 at one time and still...nothing? I think I'm going to ask to go back on Flexeril(for bed time) to reduce my pain and spasms) Thanks!
Avatar f tn oh and broke down and took a muscle relaxer. skelaxin. this shouldn't be a problem right? found an old script. ibuprofen was not cutting it.
Avatar m tn The muscle relaxer the dr gave me is Skelaxin. Anybody else ever try this. I read on drug ******* the reviews and some people said it really helped without making them dizzy like most of them do. Man I sure hope it helps so I can keep weening off the hydros.
450140 tn?1317947304 Today, my neuro suggested i try SKELAXIN (muscle relaxer) for the spasams I am experiencing. I will start those tomorrow. It says take 3x a day, every 8 hours. And if need be a 4th one can be taken. Does this sound right ........every 8 hours?? Please tell me what you think. I pray that everyone is doing ok. This limboland is really taking its toll on me and my family. Have not worked since Jan. that is putting a strain on us finacially. Not to mention, all the worry about my health.
Avatar n tn I have had some kind of cold/flu, sinusitis (all in one) for about three weeks. Finally I went to the doctor she prescribes antibiotics, anticough medicine etc. I also developed somehow a muscle spams around my neck aparently due to excesive coughing. The pain became the worst ever to the point of tears. The doctor prescribed skelaxin 800mg, it didn't help, then I added 400mg Advil.. The pain somehow got better, but still there. So Went for Motrin 800mg with Skelaxin, didn't help.
Avatar f tn t find them particulaly helpful. My class just covered what I had already read in the 1 pregnancy book I bought so I talked to the instructor and stopped going.
Avatar f tn As the result of a back injury in February, I began taking Soma and 10 mgs of hydrocodone at night to help me sleep. I took no pain killers during the day, just Skelaxin. I stopped taking Skelaxin several weeks ago and am now in the process of discontinuing the Hydrocodone. I took the last Soma and 1/2 of a 5 mg tablet several nights ago. This is my second round with trying to get off this med. The problem is the insomnia or sleeplessness that occurs in the middle of the night.
402205 tn?1230481005 I will try to avoid them right now tho because they make me sluggish and I am already fatigued with my cut in dose of hydrocodne..anything can be abused...skelaxin is a fairly safe muscle relaxer.....
Avatar m tn Felt bump and determined was musculoskeletal. Prescribed anti-inflammatory (Naproxen) and muscle relaxer (Skelaxin). Told me to take as needed (didn’t have to take the full bottle). Took prescriptions for 4 days, Skelaxin caused stomach cramping even when taken as directed. Urine test came back cloudy with high white blood cell count. Concluded was very dehydrated and sent off for tests to determine if infection was present. Also had me go in for blood tests.
Avatar m tn Xanax 1mg (3 a day)I have horrible anxiety. Since soma has changed to class 3 they wont prescribe anymore. What is a good substitute-I was just reading that flexaril should be used short term b/c benefit max out after 2 wks. it doesn't bother me to change accept the soma really works., Any suggestions what to try that's a close alterative to soma?
Avatar f tn depakote, solu-cortef (hydrocortisone), zofran (not sure why...
Avatar f tn I have tardive dyskinsesia as well in advanced forms (you can see my post for tardive psychosis which is an experimental criteria I'm being evaluated for) so I am careful of that as well. I obtained a website with a list here: http://www.tardive-dyskinesia.com/ though I don't know if its comprehensive.
585414 tn?1288941302 For a long while the Flexaril along with Methocarb and Skelaxin (which I still take) worked. But then it began to stop. I take other medications (Klonopin, Catapres, rhodiola and two others in clinical study) for it and have tried about 30 anti-Parkinsonian medications and couldn't tolerate them or they couldn't work.
Avatar m tn I have taken muscle relaxers, migraine meds, prednisone (6 days) and more and more Skelaxin. I started seeing a neurologist two weeks ago and he put me on the prednisone and skelaxin he also did a MRI (w/o contrast) that came back negative.
Avatar f tn FTM as well, I'm taking classes, the natural birthing class, breastfeeding and New parents class.
10221785 tn?1410990458 Off to my first breastfeeding class. Super excited and cant wait to learn about this experience that I will be having in 11 weeks with my son (: ♡ anyone else take a class? How was it?
10665671 tn?1413744449 If you are worried, see if there is one you can schedule earlier. You can often find them at area hospitals and through the county resource centers.
Avatar f tn Did you still go to birthing class even though you were having a scheduled c section? I just wanna know if I should go or would it be a waste of time/money.
Avatar n tn Often children who use these methods of diversion are trying "to cover up" that they are unable to do the class work. Have you discussed this possibility with his teacher?
