skelaxin and cymbalta

Thanks LazyMoose, gosh, I took a quarter pill(800mg) of Skelaxin and it was a yummy feeling and that's what scared me. I felt really goooooood. But yeah the other day I could not sleep at all cause I had really really strong muscle spasm/twitch. Not sure what the difference is since all this is new happenings. But yeah I might do a quarter skelaxin once or twice a week here and there to help me sleep, I deserve a break I think. hehe. ordered a theracane from amazon.com.

In your opinion would i be better off with the ultram and valium along with physical therapy, or the cymbalta with valium. I hate taking pills, and the withdrawal from cymbalta looks like a nightmare!! also I am going to start to see a therapist...hopefully that will help. Just in terrible cycle of pain..anxiety..no movement..more pain etc..... Thanks for your insight.

The neck pain is still unbearable! I was put on CYMBALTA about 5 weeks ago, and have been fighting with nauseua with that. Today, my neuro suggested i try SKELAXIN (muscle relaxer) for the spasams I am experiencing. I will start those tomorrow. It says take 3x a day, every 8 hours. And if need be a 4th one can be taken. Does this sound right ........every 8 hours?? Please tell me what you think. I pray that everyone is doing ok. This limboland is really taking its toll on me and my family.

Having some very bad lower back pain today that tylenol isn't touching. I was wondering about Skelaxin. I have some and have taken it in the past...but don't even remember side effects or how I felt taking it or anything. Is this addictive?Anybody know anything about it? Thanks!

I am prescribed Celebrex and skelaxin. I have a question about the skelaxin. Well my job is physically demanding I work in a hospital I do patient care I "boost" patients, transport patients, help very unsteady patients get out of bed and walk. So quite often I need to take my skelaxin. My lower back tightens up and I just need some relief. I have been taking it a bit more often than I did say 6 months ago.

Yes, I get unbearable pain, mostly in my lower back, that makes me want to spend the day in bed crying my eyes out. Since I was just diagnosed in July, the doctors have started me on the small stuff (Cymbalta, Lyrica, etc.) and I haven't reached the narcotics point yet (although I desperately need the strong stuff). I was prescribed Darvocet but it does nothing for my pain. Skelaxin does nothing either.

In 1994 I had suffered a sub-arachnoid hemmorage(anueurysm) on the outer left side of my brain. I had it clipped, and the surgery involved some cutting into some muscle tissue in the jaw as well as surgical buttons to seal the bone flap they had cut open. I still have chronic pain from the surgery site(mostly the jaw and sometimes the site where it was cut open), but not like the section of the brain where it happened.

Most patients are on a nerve pain medication like Lyrica, Neurontin, or Cymbalta. These target specific nerve pain which is your main source of pain with the herniated discs and sciatic nerve pain. An opiate does not work well for this. Same thing with having a muscle relaxer to take as needed. Flexeril, Skelaxin, Robaxin, Baclofen, or Zanaflex. This is very useful for those times with bad muscle spasms... Again...an opiate does not target spasms.

A few years latter I went to cymbalta and that work and recently the insurance said no and I went thru the process again and nothing happed. What other medication is out there? It is so hard to get up in the moring because of the pain I have to crawl to the shower to have the warm water loosen me so I can do my fibro stretches in order to function. I have read some of the people who take narcs for the pain. Are you aware that narcs can make it worse?

I don't think that amount of wine alone would elevate you enzymes but with the drugs you're taking I really don't know. I believe that Skelaxin may be associated with elevated liver enzymes is some people but again, I am not sure of this. I would Google all of the drugs you're taking with the word "liver" or "hepatic" eg "Skelaxin Liver".

I was prescribed Percocet (6x10/325), Skelaxen (3x800mg), Lyrica (3x50mg) and Cymbalta (30mg), plus I had 3 spinal epidural injections. I was on that combination for 5-1/2 months before the pain subsided enough for me to get off of the meds. Not realizing what I was dealing with I just stopped taking all of them, but found out the hard way what withdrawals were. Long story short... I tapered and went cold turkey Feb 2009.

I'm on Cymbalta for moodswings and fibro. Someone posted that they were on Cymbalta and Lamactil and it worked well. Cant find the post. Anyone taking this combination and does it work.

So he just said take the hydro because your not taking that many (only 3 a day 7.5) and try this Skelaxin and let me know in 3 months how your doing. I have really tried to cut back on the hydro but my back hurts so bad it wakes me up (when I can sleep). Please let me know if any of you have had any experence with this for back spasms. Thanks.

oh and broke down and took a muscle relaxer. skelaxin. this shouldn't be a problem right? found an old script. ibuprofen was not cutting it.

I was put on cymbalta for depression and nerve pain ( RSD ). I hate taking new medicines I know nothing about. I am young and I am afraid of it. I start off taking 30 mgs for a week than increase to 60 than I will get up to 120 at some point. Could someone please tell me something about this drug? Is it safe? Thanks Susan...

I miss work all the time, cannot get out of bed! The pain and fatigue is getting unbearable. I feel like my primary doctor really can't help me - every time I go, I feel like they pull a new medicine out of the bag of tricks for me (the guniea pig) to try. Was wondering what 'other' people out there are taking for their FMS.

Overall I think Cymbalta is one of the best medication out there but this have a cost. Cymbalta cost is outrageous and Cymbalta is very hard to stop. I stopped cold-turkey after using it for only 5 months and I had brain zaps for a little more than a month. The withdrawal was quite severe but it is expected with all potent powerful antidepressant.

I have come off of a lot of my medications. My final meds are Wellbutrin, Trazodone and Cymbalta. The Wellbutrin is suppose to take the place of the cymbalta. After horrible withdrawal, I came completely off of Cymbalta last week. I became so depressed that I couldn't stand to talk, much less move. All I wanted to do was sleep and be left alone. When I did interact, I was grizzly mean.

The average dose for Cymbalta is 60mg per day, and although some doctors do prescribe it 120mg per day...there is no evidence to prove that it helps any more than the 60 mg per day. The maximim dose for Prozac is 80mg per day so you're still below the highest dosage on that one. I doubt your doctor will increase the Cymbalta anymore, and if he tries to...find another doctor! My sister started taking Cymbalta for Fibromyalgia and her appetite dropped a lot, and just a few months later she was pre-diabetic. I have read some other people's comments saying that going on or even going off of cymbalta has really messed up their blood sugar. some people even say that it made them diabetic. so if you are on cymbalta, just watch out for some of the pre-diabetes symptoms and tell your doctor about any weird eating habit changes that happen.

Namaste, mcmcorp45 offers excellent information and advice and it is true that studies have shown that Cymbalta does note alter the reproduction process. If this is going to be your first child and you are having difficulties, I would consult with a doctor, who may need to refer you to a specialist as mcmcorp45 mentioned. Don't forget to have both parties evaluated for a possible problem.

And Paxil gives more people a rough time upon stopping than any other antidepressant other than Effexor (and, ahem, Cymbalta). Your friend should have been tapered off the Paxil, and maybe was, but if not, and even if your friend was, there's a lot going on now possibly, too much for us to say which is which.

No longer covered by her Medicare, her psychiatrist took her off the cymbalta and abilify. Switched to prozac 40 mg once a day. Last day for cymbalta and abilify was Wednesday. She is having horrible throbbing , headaches, angry outbursts, crying, the "runs", nausea, panic, agitation. She cannot get to sleep and wakes up after 4 hours once she does get to sleep. What she wants to know is whether or not she can take tylenol for the headaches?

I was on Cymbalta and experienced those side effects, but was much better after switching to Lexapro. Good luck!
