Avatar f tn Can someone explain what, if any, evidence there for a switch from simvastatin to pravastatin? My husband's doctor said there is new evidence that simvastatin may be detrimental. Unfortunately, my husband did not quiz him further. He already has one stent in a narrow back artery but he has brought his cholesterol down considerably with the statins.
Avatar n tn We have been on simvastatin for (wife for 1+ years, me for 2+ years) and stopped about 5-6 months ago - wife still having pains in the butt some dizziness and leg pain, but getting better - I am having butt pain and leg pains, swollen left knee, (but joint pain seems OK on stairs), recovery seems slower than my wife's. But both of us have just been diagnosed with right enlarged renal cysts which were not there before taking simvastatin.
720832 tn?1230564372 Though your headaches may be caused by a recent sinusitis, the numbness of right side of the body and the dizziness and paresthesias are of a different genre. Maybe your hyperglycemia (are you a known diabetic and your medicines are not acting?) is responsible for everything. What all medications are you now on? Your hyperglycemia, numbness, dizziness, paresthesias have to be handled first, be it by your GP or an Internal Medicine specialist. Then one can think about ENT. Hope this helps.

I've had the anxiety long before the diagnosis of hypothyroid, unless it was never found until now. Is the dizziness normal with hypo? That is my main question at this point.
Avatar f tn I had flu in October and also put on simvastatin symptoms of junctional rhythm started in same time frame. Do I have cardiomyopathy? And how serious is all this. Ep showed great arteries and I've stopped simvastatin as I thought this might be the problem with junctional rhythm. Sometimes feels like war going on in my chest and takes my breath away.
Avatar n tn That is one side-effect of beta blockers, but one some can get adjusted too. I take as much 200 mg a day of Metoprolol and it can affect me, even some dizziness at that level. I try to get by on 100 mg a day, still a stiff dose. This med also lowers BP, maybe you'd want to discuss with your doctor. A lot of people on this Community take it.

I don't know if this is a side effect of the drug I'm taking 40mg a day but feel really achy will this pass .

I am currently on Plavix, Aspirin, Simvastatin, Lisinopril and Carvedilol/Coreg/. Stopped Lisinopril for a little bit and felt much better- unfortunately my blood pressure went a little up. Another ENT suggested vestibular migraine, but the addition of nortriptyline did nothing. Lying flat my symptoms are almost gone. Sitting up my head spins but I can tolerate the symptoms. However, standing and walking are intolerable. I was off work for a few months but after some vestibular rehab, I have returned with limited success.
