Lisinipril is $4/month and $10 for 90 days at WalMart and many other pharmacies that have the $4 precription plan. You pay out of pocket. Simvastatin isn't on that list, but lovastatin and pravastatin are, if your doctor feels like you could try substituting one of those. Metoprolol isn't on the $4/month plan, but atenolol is. Again, maybe your doctor would be okay with changing you from metoprolol to atenolol. It's worth talking to the doc about.

I have been taking Lipitor (20mg) and my wife has been taking Simvastatin. Prior to being put on medication, my cholesterol had been running about 205 for a long time and my wife's had been around 160. What is the difference betwen the two? My medication is considerably higher than mine? Can you explain why? My blood sugar was running abot 137 so my Doctor also put me on Actoplus as well. My Lipitor is about $100 and my wife's Simvastatin is about $6 (same quantity of tables-30).
Clomid is cheap...you can even get the generic for I think it's $9 at Walmart. He must be talking about monitoring, IUIs, etc. too for it to add up to $1600. It does sound like a lot, though.

I have been taking simvastatin for three weeks since having a Tia but have also had a flu like cold for ten days , I am still having aching flu like pains which I would have thought would have passed by now . I don't know if this is a side effect of the drug I'm taking 40mg a day but feel really achy will this pass .
The only negative I have read about Simvastatin in recent times is a study that showed high doses of simvastatin of 80 mg puts a patient at a greater risk for side effects including muscle damage. Most doctors have backed off of the 80 mg dosage as a result. I have been on 40 mg for years and it has worked great for me with no issues.
Your husband needs to address this concern with his doctor. He needs to understand why there was a change in treatment.
I take the Similac /w DHA. They used to sell them at Walmart now I can only find them at Walgreens. They are about $12.00 after you take the coupon out of the box, lol.

Early December last year I was told that I have Hypercholesterolaemia and I would have to take Simvastatin 40 mg and quit smoking, I'm male and almost 52 yrs old.

The more frames you want the more it cost, the less frames the less you spend.
In most cases side effects can be managed with changes to dosage. Typically Simvastatin is prescribed at 40mg but can be prescribed as high as 80mg daily but that will increase the risk of side effects. I would communicate new side effects with your doctor but try to push past the first few weeks, side effects should go away but be careful to report new issues.
It SHOULD be in the vitamin section at wal mart....if not, Walgreens has it for about 6 to 8 bucks. Health food stores carry it as well! Good luck!
Effective in June 2011 the FDA recommends limiting the dose of simvastatin to a maximum dose of 40 mg, with the exception of patients already taking simvastatin 80 mg daily for a period of greater than 12 months who have not developed any myalgia side effects. The FDA make this restriction because at the highest dose of simvastatin 80 mg daily the incidence of serious myopathy was higher than using other available statins.
curious if stef2011 or studyforhope or StephenCastlecrag know whether simvastatin by itself can reduce viral load? I've read about the effects in conjunction with NUCS but I'm curious if sim is effective alone.
