I have been on 20 mg of simvastatin and 3000 mg niaspan now my ck levels have went from 60 to 295 i could hardly walk .will my levels come down if i lower dose. and reverse damage. i have 12 stents .the rest of my blood work is fine.
BTW how often we need to check for ALT while undergoing simvastatin
My doctor doesn’t seem worried about the ALT; he told me to take the SIM pills and hasn’t talked about the ALT level………………………………………………..

Should I go on a diet and take the SIM pills for a month and get new blood work, maybe the high ATL levels are from my diet and high Cholesterol? Or will a month on the SIM pill possibly do more irreversible damage?
Just finished Tx 6 months post UDT and now have been prescribed simvastatin for cholestral. I'm 3/3.5 damaged and was wondering if this is the right aveune to take for meds . Will the hep C be reactivated or will my liver get worse now that its trying to get better. Blood work will follow in 30 days. The VA prescribed Zeitia and my new outside Dr recommended to try the Simvastatin ( Zocar) and stop the Zeita. Does this make any sense to anyone? Any comments are appreciated .

both simvastatin and red yeast rice are ok and they are used on cirrhosis too because it lowers portal hypertension.
AST & ALT are liver enzymes that increase when there is inflammation in the liver.

in india you have also generic interferon which is very cheap vs pegintf but generic intf needs 3 injections per week

i think that pegintf+simvastatin is enough, once hbsag starts to go down and alt to go up you can stop simvastatin and keep pegintf only.
About 2 months later, my ALT and AST started to flare. Maybe the drop in simvastatin jump started HBV viral activity.
Now that I know simvastatin actually helps with fighting HBV, I'll go back to 10/80 dosage and increase my vitamin D supplement intake.
I remember having some red yeast rice as a kid and absolutely hated it. But I think it is mainly due to how my mum cooked it. I guess I'll have to find a way to like it.
what about simvastatin vit d and alinia instead of peg interferon bec its a lot cheaper and oral and very few side effects

alt rose from 29 to 46
this maybe due to immune system activation but since i got normal alt only taking 2g daily of alinia and all the times i stopped it i got alt from 40 to 50 i dont want any risk and restart alinia 2g from today
hbsag got down a bit but not significant because it is always up and down from 4500 to 6500:

My viral load is currently 992 iu/ml whiel ALT has been 22
with these values liver damage is zero on most patients, you dont need a therapy and if damage is present it will be reversed at this low levels
according to latest studies you might try simvastatin for a period of 3-6 months and see if alt and hbvdna gets und, i dont suggest antivirals because they cannot be stopped and they will not improve more than you are now
pains are just due to inflammation, nothing to do with HCC or cirrhosis.

I’m scared that my ALT which is already high at 35 (my doctors scale 9-33) might increase and do damage to my liver. My doctor doesn’t seem worried about the ALT; he told me to take the SIM pills and hasn’t talked about the ALT level.
Is a 35 really high? Or possibly will changing my really really fat fat diet into a good diet bring the levels down?
check hbsag quantity and if result is less than 1500iu/ml you may clear hbv with interferon+simvastatin+vit d3+alinia (nizonide500)
if hbsag is high the chances to clear are almost zero so it is better to wait and monitor liver damage by fibroscan, hbvdna has very little meaning if normal alt/ast and no liver damage by fibroscan
