But, the clubbing, extreme shortness of breath, fatigue, etc. are all certainly symptoms of IPF. And I am very sorry and sad to say, it will only become much worse. My mother lived about 2 hrs. from me. I did go to stay with her for 3 months, to help care for her. Eventually Hospice was called in. My mother use to be a little go getter. But, the IPF tore her totally down. She spent about the last 2 yrs. of her life in bed. Just to go to the bathroom, was nothing but a battle.
I have since refused both prednisone and inhaled steroids and am much better for it. I use natural anti-inflammatories. However I do not have IPF, but COPD. I don't know if that makes a difference.
P.S. My pulmonary MD has a hard time accepting that I reacted in this way. Also the treatment caused me to suffer adrenal fatigue.
Scarring, that can resemble interstitial fibrosis, can occur with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), but COPD and interstitial pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) are 2 different diseases. Smoking causes COPD. The cause of IPF is unknown, and at this time, there is no proven effective treatment for it. Asbestos can also cause scarring, but unlike COPD and IPF, it frequently involves the membrane that encases the lungs, called the pleura.
As a patient with undiagnosed IPF continues their daily activities, the lack of oxygen circulation begins to become more and more obvious, and the patient will find themselves out of breath during even the most routine activities. Other symptoms often begin to surface as well, such as aching muscles or joints, unexpected weight loss, and a general fatigue.
End Stage: As the disease progresses, it can cause problems beyond shortness of breath.
Viagra(Sildenafil) is a vasodilator (that is, a drug that dilates blood vessels), and consequently it lowers the systolic blood pressure (the "top" number in blood pressure measurements) by an average of 8 mmHg. In the majority of patients with heart disease, including most of those being treated with antihypertensive drugs, this is not a problem.
I'm not sure what IPF is. Welcome to the patient communty. It's my understanding that a goiter can press on the airway and constrict it .. probably in serious situations the outcome can be equally as serious is my two cents. But I am not a doctor.
She has had severe gas problems even before she started Sildenafil and currenlty she is taking drokin , flunil and happi which is an antacid there is relief but the pian comes back ...

My doctor told me the delayed ejaculation is common with 50 mg dosage of Sildenafil and he said that Sildenafil 25 mg should be adequate and will not lead to delayed ejaculation.
I don't smoke and have no other major health problems. Is it useful to have intercourse 3-4 hours after taking the pill (25 mg), to slightly reduce the effect of the pill on ejaculation ?

I tried sildenafil and tadalafil and both worked very well only a few first times - later the was a small or sometimes no response. My testosterone is high (810) and no smoking, not overweight, blood work works O.K.
I'm 56 years old. Any suggestions?
Hepatic Impairment
In volunteers with hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh Class A and B), sildenafil clearance was reduced, resulting in higher plasma exposure of sildenafil (47% for Cmax and 85% for AUC). The pharmacokinetics of sildenafil in patients with severely impaired hepatic function (Child-Pugh Class C) have not been studied. A starting dose of 25 mg should be considered in patients with any degree of hepatic impairment [see Dosage and Administration (2.5) and Clinical Pharmacology (12.3)].
Side Effects of Penegra?
Like all medications, Penegra (sildenafil) can cause some side effects. These are usually mild & tolerable and don't last longer than a few hours. Some of these side effects are more likely to occur with higher doses of Penegra.
Which would be the correct time frame. As most IPF patients only live from 5 to 6 yrs. The lung doctor saw the first spot of the IPF back in 2001 from the xrays. A number of doctors missed this. My mother passed away in Aug. 2007 four months after a lung transplant. Our only hope. I will say that the university hospital that performed the transplant killed my mother. She got to go home for 2 days after the transplant. She spent 4 months in the hospital being brutalized after the transplant.
I am 83 and take Sildenafil once a week before breakfast and sex. I usually have an upset stomach for 1-2 hours after. It's the price I pay for sex.
So, I do what I can for all the precious people battling IPF. And I am doing it for my children and grandbabies as well.

I don't have ED but I was curious if my erections could be stronger. I spoke with my doctor and tried Cialis and Viagra. Since they have much different half-lives, I thought I'd try the following: Taking 10-20 mg Cialis every 2-3 days, then taking 20-40 mg Viagra (generic sildenafil) before sexual activity. My questions isn't whether this is effective - it certainly is. But is there any risk to doing this? I moved so I don't have a doctor right now.
This effect is not clinically significant and does not cause any complaints in most of the patients.
Inasmuch as the concomitant use of sildenafil citrate and alpha blockers may leads to symptomatic hypotension in certain patients, sildenafil should be used with caution in patients receiving alpha- adrenoblockers. The patients taking alpha blockers may use Viagra only after stabilizing of hemodynamic indexes.
