Common Questions and Answers about Side effects of premarin risk

premarin

Avatar f tn Then they noticed that cases of endometrial cancer among Premarin users were going through the roof - the Premarin was causing endometrial hyperplasia, which was placing these women at high risk of endometrial cancer. It was then that they developed Prempro, which adds progestins to the mix, and supposedly reduces these risks.
Avatar f tn also recommended hormonal tablet and cream which is Premarin 0.625 and premarin cream for 6 months. Now I want to know whetherr there are any side effects to it and if any, what are they and what can i do? Please let me know, as I am a bit tensed.
Avatar f tn Thanks for responding. I have been on HRT, that's why I am seeking something alternative. HRT made me crazy..even on the lowest dosage. I foun d one bioidentical online that actually contained MSG as an ingredient and I am horribly sensitive to that, gives me migraines, which is also one of the lovely s/e of menopause. I will look up a reproducitve endocrinologist..thanks, didn't know where to turn!
Avatar f tn I'm sorry to hear about the migraines. Zoladex will suppress the periods as long as you take it, but when you stop taking it, they come back. It's also got a lot of side effects that sound very unpleasant, along with the risk of osteoporosis. You might look up Wikipedia's entry on Zoladex (it will link you to the generic name).
Avatar n tn m very skeptical about taking it. I looked it up online and the side-effects are very frightening. The last time this happened, I was prescribed vitamin K to stop the bleeding. Can someone please clarify exactly what premarin is and how it is going to stop this bleeding?
Avatar f tn I am a 62 year old woman G3P3 . I had a total hysterectomy with BSO. I have been on estrogen replacement since my surgery in 1998. I still have moderate-severe hot flashes and they seem to be getting more intense with age. I switched from oral Premarin which covered me pretty well but I didn't want to be taking pills the rest of my life. Since then I have tried a variety of patches that are really not very effective on a regular basis and very expensive. At my age, what do you recommend.
1112541 tn?1286311213 Hi Charliegirl! There are definitely natural / herbal products that really do work for many of us. I started using an herbal product called Wisdom Menopause Formula last winter when I couldn't handle the side effects that Premarin was causing me, and it has worked wonders - way better than I expected. I know at least six other women who are taking it, and I haven't heard anything but praise.
Avatar f tn ok so the doctor put me on clomid from the 3rd day of my period. I took tablets but I've been having side effects from after ovulation. I have breast tenderness. extreme tiredness, food cravings. I want to know how long does the side effects last. I'm on day 24 of my cycle. Took a pregnancy test yesterday but it came up negative..
1194973 tn?1385503904 s in menopause. She says it helps a LOT with the typical side effects of menopause; mood swings, hot flashes, etc....why did they put ou on Premarin?
Avatar f tn If the medication had any form of steroids in it its possible that had a lot to do with it. The hair didn't appear until you discontinued use of the cream which could of been a side effect of the abrupt stopping instead of lowering the dose little by little. This may be a fact you want to bring up to the endocrinologist.
Avatar n tn I had a total hysterectomy in Feb. this year and I opted not to go the HRT route. My gyn is the type that kind of pushes HRT too, but I still will not take it. I am dealing with the same as mcclos10, the side effects of menopause and I can tolerate it too, but of course I'm not a very good candidate for HRT anyway - I have a history of blood clots and having that type of history I wouldn't risk it on my life. I also agree with Madge, you need to work more closely with your doctor.
1168718 tn?1464983535 I have had a little reluctnance to try the HRT because of the risk of breast cancer to name a few, but I think that this might be what I have to do for a few years anyways. I do have the dryness factor and that is a normal part of the menopause, I believe, but it is NOT comfortable at all, and the other things OTC lubricants and such don't work for me. I feel gross using them. I did read that MS can cause yeast infections.
691935 tn?1421027090 My doctor has instructed me to stop taking Premarin because of my age of 65 years due to cancer risks. I also learned that by turning 65 (in the U.S.) insurance will no longer cover. As with most women related issues, we don't count. I started Premarin after a total hysterectomy at age 35. Anyway, I'm experiencing heart palpitations, heat ache, body aches, night sweats, and loud ringing in the ears.
Avatar n tn The HERS Foundation is another good source of information on the many negative effects of uterus removal. Removal of the ovaries has a whole other set of problems. Hysterectomy destroys the anatomy because it causes the bladder and bowel to drop which can lead to dysfunction such as incomplete emptying, incontinence, fistula, cystocele, rectocele, enterocele, urethrocele. It destroys our figures because the ligaments they cut to remove the uterus are the pelvis' support structures.
Avatar m tn Everything from risk of infections, pneumonia, and heart disease as well as increased risk of stomach cancer. I am not allowed to refer you to my blog but I know that Dr.Mercola did a great blog with references on his website so you can read more THERE. What to take instead? What I give everyone including my dad! Good pharma grade digestive enzymes and betaine. Works much better and is totally safe.
Avatar f tn Post surgical ovarian failure, whilst uncommon, is a real risk with these surgeries and I was never advised of this risk before my op so I am very upset. I now have to take birth control, and all because of a benign cyst. I get migraines from the pill and I shouldn't be taking it either. I wish I had just left the cyst there. But given your history, I guess they do have to extra careful. Good luck, and I hope things get better for you.
Avatar f tn m angry that he has put me on atenolol to counteract the side effects of bupropion. What is going to fight the side effects of the atenolol? I do not want to be a walking pharmacy.
996946 tn?1503249112 Regular monitoring of INR should be performed on all treated patients. Those at high risk of bleeding may benefit from more frequent INR monitoring, careful dose adjustment to desired INR, and a shorter duration of therapy.
Avatar f tn The physician did say that premarin vaginal cream 3 x per week would be okay. I am concerned. I have been told allot of different things. Do I risk taking the cream? Is it absorbed just locally? What is your suggestion.
Avatar n tn Even after many months of aggressive use of vaginal Premarin, while the vaginal walls texture has thickened & mesh protrusion has almost receded I must wear pads 24/7 for a variety of discharges: pale pink, mucousy blood, bright clotting blood, and a smelly slime of a yellow brown color. The hormones have uncomfortable side effects for me: rapid heart rate, severe headaches at the back of my neck & head, muscle cramping of calves, hands & feet.
Avatar m tn I had been on pep for 5 days, stoicrin and combivir for unprotected oral sex thanks to the members of this forum on educating me its a low risk. I could not continue. Now I have a problem on top of another problem my stools are very dark and greasy very dark and greasy. My eye sight has gone a little blur ever since and am dizzy. The last dose was 24 hours ago. Please if you could inform me is this something I should be worried about or will it just pass as days go by?
