As I mentioned above, she was given new medicined once she experienced high blood sugar level few weeks back. She was given Metformin (850 mg) and Pioglitazone (30Mg per day). Once she started experiencing low blood sugar level, the doctor stopped giving Pioglitazone and asked to continue Metformin with few other medicines and the my mother was told that she experiencing such low levels of sugar due to Pioglitazone.

Why are you on metformin? Do you have pcos? I was on metformin too and don't remember having any side effects. I guess once it adjusts to your body you might feel better. Also, there are good chances of getting pregnant while taking clomid with metformin.

Only side affects I suffered from were stomach upsets and diareaha in the first 2 weeks of starting it. I've been on it for about 2 years now, and the side affects are all gone. Generally speaking, Metformin can take 3-12 months to kick in and actually start working.
Hm, so you are diagnosed as PCOS or they just started the metformin for the reason of the adrenal gland issue? I'm trying to understand. LOL I know things that affect any part of our hormonal system will result in some mood changes. Are you taking the metformin as they intended? Have they also considered clomid? You've been working with a fertility doctor--- and done all the testing and this is the only issue they see with regards to getting pregnant?
I have been on metformin for 8 moths now and my dr just uped my dosage to 1500mg. So far it has not worked for me. I am still not ovulating. For me the symptoms were stomach aches, nuasea, head aches. They were really bad when I was getting used to the 1000mg. But once your body gets used to it the symptoms should go away, you might be left with mild cases of them. I found that my symptoms feel better if I am moving around and kepping myself busy but when I relax they get worse.
ve researched fatigue can be a side effect of both medicines. I have also been constipated, from the Phen (or so I think) and from my research I've found that you can be fatigued from being constipated, so I'm not really sure what I'm tired from - one of the meds, being constipated, or a mixture.
1) Is this normal?
2) How long will it take for my body to adjust?
3) Can I take anything to help with the constipation while taking these meds?
I am not a physician, but the mom of a type one diabetic on the pump. I have not heard of this type of side effect from Lantus. I would suggest you talk to your endocrinologist and tell him, you problem, he might be able to switch you r insulin type or see there are other things causing you to have dry eyes. Several types of medications can cause that condition.

I've had no side effects. Once in a while i'll have loose stool if i eat too many carbs. How is your dr. having you take it?
Can you tell me about its side effects? Recently I went for a checkup and my doctor gave me Metformin for weight loss (It suddently went up to 99 kg though I was at 85 before and was following a strict diet plan). I don't have diabetes and I haven't been diagnosed with PCOS, and I think Metformin is generally used for these two issues. So I'm concened whether I should really be Metformin. Can it mess up my insulin system?
I've been taking Metformin 2000mg XR for 3 months and am just now getting side effects like metallic taste and gastro side effects. Same pharmacy, same Sando manufacturer. Is it normal to have side effects after a few months?
I never had any side effects initially.
