As I mentioned above, she was given new medicined once she experienced high blood sugar level few weeks back. She was given Metformin (850 mg) and Pioglitazone (30Mg per day). Once she started experiencing low blood sugar level, the doctor stopped giving Pioglitazone and asked to continue Metformin with few other medicines and the my mother was told that she experiencing such low levels of sugar due to Pioglitazone.

It sounds like your wife will definitely need an additional medication--if not restarting the Pioglitazone, then an alternative. There are lots of different diabetes medications available that will help. Those glucose levels are indeed too high and should be addressed soon. Please ask your wife to contact her doctor as soon as possible(I suggest within the next 2 days a most) and discuss being started on another medication to bring her levels down.

Prior to diagnosis of diabetes/hypothyroidism I lost my sense of smell and taste. Currently have been without smell and taste for 11 months. ENT can't find any abnormalities; best guess is that is is damage to nerve caused by several bouts with sinusitis.
Question now is this: is this loss also associated with diabetes? AND - why am I now having phantosmia?
Metformin has demonstrated efficacy for type II DM, and there are other oral meds that can be combined with it if metformin by itself isn’t enough. Pioglitazone and Glipizide are routinely prescribed in conjunction with metformin for DM II management.
hi im a plus plus size woman ttc for 1 year now with no results was dx with PCOS in nov. since than my OB has put me on met i have managed to lose some weight almost 30 lbs im now 330lbs..still losing i went to see an RE last month and he had me start on clomid i just finished taking my last pill on thursday and now waiting to see if i am going to ovulate i guess my question is do i have a pretty good chance to ovulate and get preg.? is my weight the issue? do overweight woman have healthy preg.
It’s possible that Metformin isn’t the right medication for you. There quite a few other medications you can try. I’ve read about Berberine, but wouldn’t use it unless the doctor okays it. From what I’ve read, Berberine is supposed to work the same/similar way as Metformin, so if Metformin isn’t working, it’s likely Berberine wouldn’t work either.
You should talk to your doctor and ask for a different medication that might work better.

hi everyone just a wee quick question on people taking metformin,iv been taking it for over 6 months now and i still find that am getting side effects such as nausea and upset tummy,especially as soon as i eat somethin,does it get any easier the longer your on it,sometimes id rather not take it but were ttc, and from what iv read it has helped loads of people lose weight and helped people to conceieve, thanks ladies if u have time to reply.
