anyone else have side effects AFTER STOPPING augmentin after the full 10 day dose? I have been off for two days and have awful sweating and hot flashes. I am male, and in relatively good shape. bp has been in the 140/70 range for three days. odd stuff. Ive usually had plain ole amoxicillin, but this stuff takes the cake.
I was given a prescription of more darvocet and amoxicillin 500mg. well the amoxicillin gave me bad side effects, nausea, vomitting, diarehea. so i stopped taking them. i notified the dentist 10/9/06 of the amoxicillin side effects i was then told i probably didn't need them and not to worry about taking another antibiotic. on 10/10/06 i awoke to find my face on the left side swollen and painful.
These antibiotics cause the least liver damage and only patients who are allergic may experience some side effects. Generally, antibiotics in the penicillin family are the most “liver friendly” and safe for chronic hepatitis patients to use.

Allergic reactions to antibiotics do not typically manifest as dizziness or fogginess, but rather rash, itching, angioedema (swelling of the mouth, and in severe cases the airway). Corticosteroids can lead to several side effects including a sense of fogginess (and in others a sense of euphoria/insomnia), typically high rather than low blood pressure, and other side effects (even one dose of high doses of steroids can lead to acute confusion in older adults).
I have to go to school and drive many places, and having dizzy spells and nausea concern me. I took amoxicillin this past year with no side effects. No nausea or anything. Does that mean that this antibiotic will possibly be the same way? I take my first dose tonight and I don't want to wake up and take it, only to have to miss school again because I cant get to school due to the dizziness and nausea.
Celexa is a more preferred drug for OCD at a low dose for children. This drug seems to work the best with the fewest side effects. If you don't mind what type of OCD subject is it?
I researched a bit to find that many parents have issues with their toddlers and younger children having mood swings and depressive behaviors after taking the antibiotic but no anecdotes about older children. I took a week off from taking the pills and my skin suffered but I was almost constantly happy and always felt great. After I started taking the pills again my mood seemed to suffer once again.
s a prescription, it is at a higher dose. The amoxicillin is an antibiotic, as you likely already know.
The most common side effects with either of these is stomach upset or pain. If either occurs, discontinue and consult your doctor.
m not sure if Zofran is used in children but you could ask. Tetrabenzene is used but that has some serious side effects so that might not be for children either. But there are other medications as well. Clonidine in patch form (Catapres) is especially helpful for tic like motions (tardive tourreticism which is a variant of tardive dyskinesia I have as well). I am on Tenex which is helpful as well. I believe both of those are used in children.
I did have a lot of side effects in the beginning week. This was a different feeling though. I felt out of control. I felt like passing out and that I couldn't stand up. I was really tired too. My doc immediately prescribed me 20mg of Paroxetine and 10mg of Buspirone. He wanted to up my dosage to 25mg of Paroxetine and 15mg of Buspirone. I didn't want this however because I know there are some withdrawal problems with paxil.
As a follow up to your Post, here what I have found recently in a good paper,"one recent study has suggested, "Food Supplements Treatment of ADHD may be of equal efficacy to Ritalin treatment" All children and especially those with learning difficulties, benefit from a Multiple Vitamin-mineral supplement with antioxidants, BCompex and Vitamin C.
