sensipar

Avatar m tn com and take it to him/her. Sensipar is likely to make you feel sick, and new evidence suggests that Sensipar can make your osteoporosis worse if you take it. Most insurance companies will not pay for this drug for treating primary hyperparathyroidism... and they shouldn't! There is good evidence that taking Sensipar is worse for you than if you took nothing and simply ignored the parathyroid tumor in your neck!
Avatar f tn I am post thyroidectomey 2012 and have experienced issues with fatigue, vision changes, muscle spasms. Falling, GERD, headaches and brain fog. My calcium and PTH have alternated being high. One is always high and the other normal. Calcium is at 11.5 currently and PTH 37.5. My doctor wants me to consider Sensipar. After reading up on it am more confused than ever. I do not believe I want to take this drug. Scan was negative but from research am not holding it to be accurate.
Avatar n tn m wondering if long term hypothyroidism can cause hypocalcemia and if a person could have hypocalcemia when calcium levels are within normal range on regular blood test? Or is there a special blood test which test for hypocalcemia?
Avatar n tn My endo looked at these numbers and said continue on the high dose of tums and the calcitriol and come back in 2 months!!!!! I am scared I will be on the large number of tums forever and taking Rocaltrol forever. Does anyone understand my numbers given that I am on Rocaltrol and 8 Tums a day? Is my ionized calcium too high? Nobody has explained anything to me and I am concerned about how often I should get my leveles checked and if I should be weaned from the drugs and when?

Avatar f tn my WBC has been ranging 12.2- 25 with high lymphs and Grans, on and off. Proteinuria, low creatine, elevated ld-5. Still waiting on "tumor markers" ( other labs) ....ionized calcium 6.6.., Do these issues seem related? I've seen an oncologist, endo, ent, cardiologist....my GP....and i see pulmonology tomorrow....everyone is baffled. One wants me to go to NYC to get a 2nd opinion...the there's are calling friends in high places and suggesting malignancy.....any ideas?

Avatar n tn Please go for MRI of the brain and spine and consult a physician and neurologist for examination, diagnosis and treatment. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
Avatar n tn She had a pace maker placed 2 weeks ago and ever since she has broken out in a whole body rash and no one can say what it is or where it came from. Her skin looks like the skin of a chicken, very fine small bumps all over that are extremely itchy from the inside out. We have tried everything over the counter and natural and all be it the outside is clearing up peeling and drying out the itching on the inside is still there.
Avatar m tn I am taking 800-1000mg daily of Citracal, and Calcitriol .25 twice a day. They checked my PTH level and it was undetectable. I also had low phosphorus levels. I am worried about it happening again since I don't know why it happened. The only symptom I really had was menstrual-type cramping.
Avatar m tn So a D3 level test should be requested. Both the pain and the claw retraction can be due to hypocalcemia. Blood levels below 5 (normal is 30 or above) will sometimes produce these symptoms.
Avatar m tn Your probably over breathing without even thinking about, it's pretty common for people that have anxiety. Carbon dioxide levels start to drop and this causes your blood pH levels to go up restricting your blood vessels that supply oxygen to the Brain. This can cause all the symptoms you have described including more. Try to control your breathing a light workout can help.
Avatar m tn With hypoparathyroidism, low levels of parathyroid hormone (PTH) in the blood will cause low levels of calcium, low levels of vitamin D, and high levels of phosphate. Symptoms of hypoparathyroidism are related to hypocalcemia. Typically, hyperphosphatemia is asymptomatic (no symptoms).
Avatar m tn I got blood work done and an MRI of my brain and neck about a month ago and the MRI came back showing i have a bulge in my neck ( a disc issue) Could a simple herniated disc be causing all these problems? Its really starting to freak me out. I'd rather be dead then have a debilitating disease like MS....My neurologist didn't find anything beyond disc issue. I also have had anxiety and i'm wondering if this could be part of the cause?
Avatar n tn These are peanuts, treenut, fish, shell fish, food additives like sulphite or mono sodium glutamate. Allergic conditions to cosmetics, soaps etc. the other cause is hypocalcemia, hypokalemia and deranged sodium, potassium or phosphate levels. Hypoglycemia in diabetics etc can also cause perioral tingling. Raynaud’s disease or phenomenon causes tingling and numbness in lips, nose ears, nipples , fingers or toes, changing from white to blue to red on exposure to cold.
Avatar m tn Hypocalcemia really *****! I had a TT and they Killed my parathyroids.....Hypocalcemia, tenty(muscle spasms). It's been 2yrs 6mths 3 weeks 10 hrs now since surgery. I know Hypocalcewmia well(not by choice). My calcium runs low also! (7s not 8 or 9s). My dr looks at me like it's my fault! You need calcium supplements!!! don't just not take them. Your muscles spasm and cramp , because your body doesn't have enough calcium.
Avatar m tn it hurt when i walked and applied pressure on the ball of my foot, i had tingling and numbiness in my 2-3 small toes. is this the area your talking about? if it is google mortons neuroma. good luck and hope the guy above me is totally wrong, what i had is easy to take care of.
Avatar f tn Two clinical signs of calcium deficiency (hypocalcemia) is the chvostek sign and trousseau sign. Youtube has demos of both tests. "In the absence of PTH, bone resorption, phosphaturic effect, renal distal tubular calcium reabsorption, and 1,25-dihydroxy vitamin D–mediated dietary calcium absorption cannot occur. Therefore, the consequence of PTH deficiency is hypocalcemia." - Medscape - Hypoparathyroidism.
Avatar m tn The patient is a 21 year old male with no significant past medical history. Patient had recent bloodworm that was unremarkable;e and is in good physical health. He first experienced "pins and needles" in his right arm, right face, torso and leg while he was making breakfast. Along with this, while breathing in through his nose he described it as "super sensitive" to sense. No apparent motor dysfunction during the event. It resolved itself in under 10 minutes.
Avatar f tn Moreover , he also has lower back ache ,and weakness in legs ,so much so that he basically has to lie down and rest.I wanted to know if these are the symptoms of hyper/hypo thyroidism .Also the possible reason why these symptoms are there.Would be grateful if doctors and others could please help me out... Thanks so much in advance.
Avatar f tn I have seen things about hyperparathyroidism, but not much on hypoparathyroid or an underproductive parathyroid. I also have major numbness and tingling and muscle spasms. The doctor said this is because my body tissues are unable to absorb calcium. Has anyone experienced this or does anyone know what all this means? How is this problem fixed? Just trying to find some more info before my next appointment with the doctor. Thanks.
