Avatar f tn Levothyroxine Camrese Concerta Luvox Qvar Singulair I have a family history of Parkinson's and heart problems. I do not know a lot about my family's history. Please help me find answers! I am at college and I can barely go to class without feeling like I'll pass out. Thank you for any help. And yes, I am seeing doctors but even they are puzzled. Going to a neurologist soon. I am absolutely desperate.
Avatar f tn I have had an MRI both with and without contrast along with an EEG, all were negative. They have tried me on ativan, and several other medications; including neurontin. The medications lessen the severity of the "SLA's" but so far nothing has stopped them. They range from very mild to very severe with both tonic and clonic movements. The main area that is affected is my neck and shoulders/ arms but it also travels to my back, legs and into my face.
1653487 tn?1303527762 70% of people are able to obtain seizure control via medications alone, the medications are not exactly easy to deal with, i.e. unpleasant side effects. Known, in the epilepsy community, as "necessary poisons." :) But they help many. Some of the newer meds have fewer side effects, and they do have XR vsersions, which are easier to take (vs. 3-4 times a day!) Well, good luck to you--I'll keep my fingers crossed!
Avatar n tn I know a young girl that is 15 years old. She has been having "Seizure like episosodes." She has been to ERs, Doctors, Neurologists, had several tests and no one has been able to completely identify what is worng. She had eegs, ekgs, catscans along with others. Her eeg came back abnormal. Last spring she was struck in the center top of the head with a bat while playing softball. Her ears began rining and she almost passed out later that day. The next day she had her first episode.
Avatar f tn It has been two days since his last seizure but he still hasn't fully recovered, he doesn't know his commands, the people in the house ( including me ), or the other dogs and cats in the house. I want to know if he will even recover from this or if there is something I can do to help. He keeps pacing and whining, even in the middle of the night. Should I bring him in again? Could there be something more serious going on?
Avatar f tn Yes, my husband uses it for bipolar and for antidepressant/mood stability, but also for seizure depression as well. Valproic acid is used alone or with other medications to treat certain types of seizure I know you are worried and afraid for your daughter. I have no advice about what to do, just wanted you to know I am hoping all goes well and I am so sorry about it all.
Avatar n tn As physicians, it is always important to determine when it is indicated to continue or stop seizure medications. From my perspective, you may be a good candidate for stopping or tapering your anti-seizure medications if the following apply: 1) If you have been seizure free for at least 6 months. Most doctors will consider tapering the dosage and discontinuing your seizure medicines after a seizure-free period of 2 to 4 years.
Avatar n tn // I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes, and I don't know all the specific of your son's case, so I'm resisting saying exactly what happened to him. But that site does describe the condition pretty well. Again, I'm very sorry for your loss.
Avatar n tn I know it is often overwhelming when a diagnosis of a seizure disorder is considered. But writing all questions in your head and bringing the list on your follow-up with the neurologist may help. It is best that you discuss the results with a neurologist. Depending on the diagnosis, you can ask what type it is, what medications are prescribed, how often and what to do if there is a missed dose and the prognosis for the specific type of seizure disorder. Take care and do keep us posted.
1059594 tn?1261327566 I just want to know what medications you take to relieve the symptoms, pain relievers?, sleep aids?, what? I'm in a rough place right now and I just can't handle the pain and live at the same time!

199882 tn?1310188142 I don't usually discuss the types of medications I take because it's so easy for others to judge us without spending time in our shoes.. My pain has gotten a lot worse over the last few months and I was wondering if I should ask my doctor to increase them or maybe try something else? I've been on the same dosage for about 2 years now... I take: Methadone 10mg 6 x per day, Cymbalta 60mg 1 x per day, Baclofen 10mg 6 x per day, Amitiza 8MCG 2 x per day, and Oxycodone 30mg up to 8 x per day.

1303966 tn?1296743610 I'm currently not on any medications other than natural supplements. I was on Keppra, but it changed my personality drastically. Has anyone decided to take medications instead of surgery? What I'm trying to say is to control the symptoms rather than opt for such a drastic measure such as surgery. I'm one of those people who do not like to take medications because of the side effects and what the meds may do to my health down the road.
Avatar n tn Given the 'spells' that you describe, I would suggest an EEG (electroencephalogram-'brain wave test') to evaluate for possible seizure activity. I would also suggest a somatosensory evoked potential (SSEP) to evaluate the 'wiring' in your cervical spine, to see if any signal are getting lost/disturbed by that cervical disc. I would also suggest that you take your case to an academic neurology department to have some 'fresh eyes' look at all the data that has been collected thus far.
Avatar f tn Do not use if prone to seizures or if taking anti-epileptic/anti-seizure medications.
Avatar f tn Everyone is different with drugs, one size doesn't fit all. The list of anti-seizure medications is long. the only thing I recommend not using is a benzodiazepine for seizure and the use of Wellbutrin as an antidepressant. Here's the list - Talk with your doctor about different options for your anti-seizure medication.
Avatar f tn Some anti-seizure medications can affect the eye including difficulty focusing, blurring, difficulty with reading. Ask the retina surgeon when you go in about that and take a current list of medications for the Eye MD to see.

327385 tn?1378364331 There are other seizure medications out there that can do just as well with out the long term side effects. I'm sure if you google dilantin you can get a list or the name of the pharmaceutical company that puts this out.
