I’ve seen multiples dermatologists about this problem to no avail. Over the past 2-3 years, I’ve been getting these extremely itchy pimples randomly on my forehead and, on rare occasions, other t-zone areas. The areas start out very much like a hive (red, blotchy, extremely itchy skin), but, unlike hives, end up leaving a red papule with the occasional white center that stick around for days to weeks.
I picked up some Neutrogena T/Sal last night and used it before bed and this morning. Seems to be working great. I think I might switch back and forth between this and the head and shoulders, unless the T/Sal continues to work this good on its own.
15 years ago I developed seborrheic dermatitis in my ears and my groin. The first doctor prescribed a steroid cream and told me to wash my hair with dandruff shampoo and put a little of the suds in my ears and on my groin. The steroid cream worked for a couple of weeks and then stopped. A few years later a second doctor gave me samples of an anti-fungal cream and told me to use it. That did nothing.
So basically I've been itching non-stop and clawing my body up pretty good for 15 years.

In cases where steroids are not working,low doses of Accutane (Isotretinoin) are helpful.But it should be taken only after prescription from a dermatologist.
It sounds like seborrheic dermatitis, which is an inflammatory version of dandruff. I have it in my eyebrows -- it's white and flaky, with no redness until recently, and it started off in one part of one eyebrow, and then it spread. Now recently it has spread to my entire eyebrow. I've tried a lot of things. Using Nizoral shampoo once a day seems to help a little. I also take the following supplements: evening primrose oil, multivitamins, cod liver oil, and sometimes, probiotics.
Since your flare ups seem to occur when you apply water, could it be that the water is too hard?
I installed a water filter in my shower & my seb-Derm ceased up until 7 days before my menstrual cycle. So I tried that organic raw vinegar (Braggs) and the inflammation ceased immediately but the smell grossed me out. The vinegar requires multiple applications.

I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be seborrheic dermatitis. It is usually caused by overgrowth of Malassezia furfur. This skin disease commonly affects adolescents and young adults, especially in warm and humid climates and is aggravated by sweating and humidity. The rash is characterized by red and scaly rash to form on the oily areas on the face like nose and forehead.
It could also be due to Psoriasis of the scalp. Scalp psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis can be difficult to differentiate. Both are common conditions that affect the scalp. In addition, they share similar symptoms, such as itchy, red, scaly skin and burning /soreness of the scalp.
Treatment is the same for both, which is shampoos containing coal tar, ciclopiroxolamine ketoconazole, selenium sulfide, or zinc pyrithione.

Last four year i consulted many doctors (Skin specialists). But no one indicated clearly that the problem name is Seborrheic Dermatitis. Just now i find the problem.

Can you pls suggest some shampoo's and lotions for this problem? If no, Please suggest me some good doctors in mumbai. I dont know any hospitals in mumbai. I am new to mumbai. I dont want to get treatment to unknown doctors. because my problem is severe.

I have been diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis on my face. I was asked to take sporanox capsules by the doc for a week and consult the doc soon after. The fungal infection subsided within that period but I did not consult the doc after that. The infection has returned once again . I would like to know if I should take the capsules once again for a week and then consult the doc or meet the doc before taking them.
