Avatar n tn if someone has seborrheic dermatitis around his lips and chin, does it means he has HIV, or is seborrheic dermatitis a normal skin condition that affect many people.
Avatar m tn Hello, It can be due to seborrheic dermatitis. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. Topical antifungals and mild steroids are the usual treatment and combination of the two can be used to treat stubborn patches. Oral antifungal drugs and immunomodulators such as tacrolimus and pimecrolimus are used in very severe cases.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed by several dermatologists as having seborrheic dermatitis so I use TGEL shampoo and cetaphil gentle skin cleanser. Recently I stopped using moisturizers because my skin seemed too oily and voila my skin looks very good (my blepharitis also cleared up as soon as I stopped using treatments). However my extremely flaky/seemingly dry lips remain.

Avatar n tn I was diagnosed by my dermatologist as having Seborrheic Dermatitis however all medications that I have tried have not been working so my doctor has precribed quite a strong medication called Azapress (a generic medication for Imuran). Thus, my questions are as follows: 1. Will this disease ever go away? 2. What is the success rate for this medication to deal with Seborrheic Dermatitis and what are other options?
Avatar f tn Hence if your child is school going then it is unlikely to be seborrheic dermatitis. However it is often hereditary and if you have been diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis, then your child carries the risk of having it in future life during adulthood. Moreover it causes redness and inflammation of skin with yellow patches or red, greasy skin covered with flaky white or yellow scales. Hence it is unlikely to be seborrheic dermatitis in your child’s case but confirmation needs to be done.

Avatar n tn I developed seborrheic dermatitis on my face that is mild and controlled by creams a couple of weeks after a sexual encounter with a woman of unknown hiv status. It is now several years later and SD is still with me off and on and I never had it before the encounter and I am experiencing no other symptoms. I have also had anxiety ever since the encounter and have gained 20lbs. When during the course of HIV infection when does SD usually occur?
Avatar n tn If still the symptoms persist then possibility of eczema or atopic dermatitis or seborrheic dermatitis ruled out. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn Hello, The small bumps around the mouth can be due to perioral dermatitis and the flaky rash on cheeks can be due to seborrheic dermatitis. Topical antifungals and mild steroids are the usual treatment and combination of the two can be used to treat stubborn patches of seborrheic dermatitis. As regards perioral dermatitis, treatment consists of oral antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. A mild soap or soap substitute, such as Dove or Cetaphil should be used for washing.

Avatar n tn The dry rash that you have on your penis can be due to seborrheic dermatitis. The main treatment of seborrheic dermatitis is corticosteroids and shampoos containing ciclopiroxolamine, ketoconazole, selenium sulfide, or zinc pyrithione(like in antidandruff shampoos). In cases where steroids are not working, low doses of Accutane (Isotretinoin) are helpful. But it should be taken only after prescription from a dermatologist.

1282085 tn?1271747516 I would like to know the very best treatment options to getting rid of this forever if at all possible. How did I figure out how I had Seborrheic dermatitis..well it was via a military doctor who changed my diagnosis that rendered me entry into the military back in 2005. I am sick and tired of the dry scalp and face peeling. I have been putting Olive Oil and Tea Tree Oil on when I am on my way out the door to keep from being embarassed.
Avatar f tn Hello, Since seborrheic dermatitis is caused by overgrowth of fungus, so any dietary changes or herbal remedies is not going to help. You can however try the above mentioned treatment once the weaning starts, Till then please keep your skin well hydrated and moisturized . I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
