Last four year i consulted many doctors (Skin specialists). But no one indicated clearly that the problem name is Seborrheic Dermatitis. Just now i find the problem.
My question is:
Can you pls suggest some shampoo's and lotions for this problem? If no, Please suggest me some good doctors in mumbai. I dont know any hospitals in mumbai. I am new to mumbai. I dont want to get treatment to unknown doctors. because my problem is severe.
I lost my hairs.
My son just turned 17~ last year he had red bumps behind his ears that started to itch and had excess skin very ugly the family Dr.
I think the condition itself is fungal of some type. But as I said the only treatment that cleared it was Selsun Shampoo. Not Selsun Blue! As that didn't help either. The only other thing I use now, if I get the occasional flare up around my nose etc, is canesten HC cream, which, I only need to use once in a blue moon.
However, you've heard the saying if it doesn't rain it pours. Since my post back in 2010, I was diagnosed with having problems with my liver.
Dandruff on the face is characteristic of seborrheic dermatitis. It can be treated with selsun lotion (or shampoo) rubbed onto your rash. Persons with HIV can get severe seborrheic dermatitis but most people with seborrhea do not have HIV. that your seborrheic got worse is no reason for concern.

No, not ever.
3. Do you believe vinyl glove will provide protection against infection and would oil temper it.
Some of them are Lamisil, Monistat derm, Mycelex, and Nizoral. Please don’t apply selsun blue as it is causing contact dermatitis in your case. You can however try selsun shampoo(not selsun blue) as its concentration is less.
If the symptoms persist then please consult a dermatologist.

Seborrhoeic Dermatitis is believed to be an inflammatory reaction related to the proliferation of normal skin habitant Malassezia – a yeast, which produces toxic substances that infect and irate the skin. Hi, I am male 36yrs old. I have had Seborrheic Dermatitis for 15yrs. I have it on my face, head, back, ears and chest. The worse area affected is my face, around my nose. I have used Steroid cream, herbal medicine, aloe vera plant and antibiotics. At present I am using Aveeno Cream and Steroid Cream 0.05%. My skin has not been clear for the last 6mths. I am also on anti-depressants as I suffer from depression due to my skin condition. Is there any advice that you can give me.
My scalp seems to have less itching since I just started washing my hair in Selsun blue. I have an extremely low tolerance for irritations of this sort, and when the itching awakens me It seems as though my skin is crawling all over me. I do have a fungal infection in my toenails though, I wonder if there is a connection

Protar k is specifically used for dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp. Salibet contains a steroid and can be used in seborrheic dermatitis. you should continue the same treatment. Oral antifungal drugs and immunomodulators such as tacrolimus and pimecrolimus are used in very severe cases.
To anyone who can help. I have had a really bad case of scalp Seborrheic dermatitis for the past several years. I have tried everything under the sun to get rid of it and nothing will work. I have tried every kind of oil and shampoos.
It is covering my whole scalp and they are very thick scales that even makes my hair grow slow because it has to grow through these scales.
This "bout" of Seborrheic dermatitis started about 5 years ago.

I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be seborrheic dermatitis. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky,dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. You can treat it with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium.
Zinc Shampoo for seborrheic dermatitis along with Kerastase Nutritive Bain Oleo-Relax Smoothing Shampoo/conditioner. I also take Viviscal Hair Growth Supplements for the thinning caused by seb-Derm.
But most of all I have reduced my sugar intake to minimize yeast production. My reason for the above regimen is because I became cautious about long term use of all the topical steroid creams that eventually thin or damage the layers of skin.
I was diagnosed by my dermatologist as having Seborrheic Dermatitis however all medications that I have tried have not been working so my doctor has precribed quite a strong medication called Azapress (a generic medication for Imuran). Thus, my questions are as follows:
1. Will this disease ever go away?
2. What is the success rate for this medication to deal with Seborrheic Dermatitis and what are other options?

From your symptoms and picture, it looks like seborrheic dermatitis only. The other possibility is of atopic dermatitis. Topical antifungals and mild steroids are the usual treatment and combination of the two can be used to treat stubborn patches. Oral antifungal drugs and immunomodulators such as tacrolimus and pimecrolimus are used in very severe cases. You can also treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos.
Hence if your child is school going then it is unlikely to be seborrheic dermatitis. However it is often hereditary and if you have been diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis, then your child carries the risk of having it in future life during adulthood.
Moreover it causes redness and inflammation of skin with yellow patches or red, greasy skin covered with flaky white or yellow scales. Hence it is unlikely to be seborrheic dermatitis in your child’s case but confirmation needs to be done.
They may be reddish brown, slightly scaly patches or ugly, depigmented areas that will not tan, especially in suntanned skin. They should be differentiated from seborrheic dermatitis and vitiligo. Selenium sulphide lotion can be applied for around 10-15 minutes, rinsed off and re-applied daily for about a week.
But other differentials that have to be ruled out are seborrhiec dermatitis,contact dermatitis and sun burns. I was told by my dermo that I had Seborrheic dermatitis. It was dry itchy and scaly under my beard, in the nose folds, ears and eyebrows. I was given desonate gel to use for 2 weeks and things calmed down. However now I just have a redness itchy forehead. I put moisture cream o it and it doesnt really help. Is this still donsidered Seborrheic dermatitis? And would the desonate gel still be the right rx to use?
