Avatar f tn Fearing that those would leave me marks I went to dermatologist and was prescribed acne clear gel, hidrate lotion and adaferin gel. I have been using acne gel and hidrate lotion from one month my acne settled well. But from last 3 days I am getting very bad white flakes on face. My face is tight and some time applying lotion burns my face. White flakes have appeared first time on my face. I am very scared does this resembles dermatitis? I also have little bit itching on face.
Avatar f tn Hello, Since seborrheic dermatitis is caused by overgrowth of fungus, so any dietary changes or herbal remedies is not going to help. You can however try the above mentioned treatment once the weaning starts, Till then please keep your skin well hydrated and moisturized . I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn Hello, From your symptoms and picture, it looks like seborrheic dermatitis only. The other possibility is of atopic dermatitis. Topical antifungals and mild steroids are the usual treatment and combination of the two can be used to treat stubborn patches. Oral antifungal drugs and immunomodulators such as tacrolimus and pimecrolimus are used in very severe cases. You can also treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos.

Avatar n tn I was diagnosed by my dermatologist as having Seborrheic Dermatitis however all medications that I have tried have not been working so my doctor has precribed quite a strong medication called Azapress (a generic medication for Imuran). Thus, my questions are as follows: 1. Will this disease ever go away? 2. What is the success rate for this medication to deal with Seborrheic Dermatitis and what are other options?
Avatar m tn I had this. It seemed to be seborrheic dermatitis, and seemed to respond best to Nizoral shampoo, but I don't know how your hair type would like that shampoo. If diluted white vinegar isn't too drying, you could try rinsing with that. I cannot use any conditioner as it causes problems for me, blocking pores. I also found out I have celiac disease, so it was a side effect of digestive malabsorption. So find out if you have any intestinal problems going on.
Avatar n tn The dry rash that you have on your penis can be due to seborrheic dermatitis. The main treatment of seborrheic dermatitis is corticosteroids and shampoos containing ciclopiroxolamine, ketoconazole, selenium sulfide, or zinc pyrithione(like in antidandruff shampoos). In cases where steroids are not working, low doses of Accutane (Isotretinoin) are helpful. But it should be taken only after prescription from a dermatologist.
Avatar f tn Hence if your child is school going then it is unlikely to be seborrheic dermatitis. However it is often hereditary and if you have been diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis, then your child carries the risk of having it in future life during adulthood. Moreover it causes redness and inflammation of skin with yellow patches or red, greasy skin covered with flaky white or yellow scales. Hence it is unlikely to be seborrheic dermatitis in your child’s case but confirmation needs to be done.

Avatar n tn I developed seborrheic dermatitis on my face that is mild and controlled by creams a couple of weeks after a sexual encounter with a woman of unknown hiv status. It is now several years later and SD is still with me off and on and I never had it before the encounter and I am experiencing no other symptoms. I have also had anxiety ever since the encounter and have gained 20lbs. When during the course of HIV infection when does SD usually occur?
Avatar n tn The most likely differential for this is a severe case of seborrheic dermatitis. The cause for seborrheic dermatitis is yet unknown and there is no definite form of medical therapy as this condition may recur. Others have associated yeast infections with it. While some have implicated stress and environmental factors. You may seek second opinion for your condition. Does anyone in the family also have a similar condition?
Avatar m tn I had seborrheic dermatitis for 7 years now and because of that i had to use Corticosteroid , but unfortunately i did not know about the side effects of that and i used it on the scalp and bear for many years , now that i am 31 i was diagnosed with rosacea, i was wondering can this be steroid induce rosacea and if yes would it go away.
Avatar m tn I’ve seen multiples dermatologists about this problem to no avail. Over the past 2-3 years, I’ve been getting these extremely itchy pimples randomly on my forehead and, on rare occasions, other t-zone areas. The areas start out very much like a hive (red, blotchy, extremely itchy skin), but, unlike hives, end up leaving a red papule with the occasional white center that stick around for days to weeks.
Avatar m tn Hello, It looks like seborrheic dermatitis. Seborrhoeic Dermatitis is believed to be an inflammatory reaction related to the proliferation of normal skin habitant Malassezia – a yeast, which produces toxic substances that infect and irate the skin. The disease is neither contagious nor related with diet but it may be aggravated by other illness like Psychological stress, immune compromised patients, neurological diseases like Parkinsonism and stroke.
