187316 tn?1386356682 I have just gotten off of meds for a horrible uti. I finished the meds yesterday. They are not to be taken during pregnancy. They are macrobid and metronidazole. Just found out I'm pregnant today and I'm super worried.
1355431 tn?1369975306 She was very diligent about testing for that every time I came in and always told me if I had any symptoms to contact her.
Avatar f tn Does the antibiotic macrobid used to treat uti's decrease the effectiveness of birth control? Because I'm on the pill and I shouldn't get my period for another week and I've been bleeding.. This makes me nervous because while taking macrobid I had sex without a condom, he pulled out, but I know that's not always a safe alternative either. I know that during early pregnancy bleeding isn't uncommon. I'm scared out of my mind..
Avatar f tn Has anyone been perscribed, or taken macrobid at the ens of there pregnancy? I was proscribed it. I habe two different drs and im.being induced monday. And it DIRECTLY states dont use it 37 weeks or later or close to delivery. .. im scared and this pregnancy is so freaking hard on me. Im getting to the point of giving up. And i dont want to cause my boy and family need me to fight.
Avatar f tn Are you pregnant? Macrobid is pregnancy category B--- used in pregnancy. Cipro, the gold standard is pregnancy category C--- not the best choice for someone who is pregnant. Amoxicillin isn't the best choice at all for a UTI based on the common bacteria that causes UTI's. Every infection is caused by a specific strain of bacteria. Some antibiotics are going to work better on different strains of bacteria.
Avatar f tn Macrobid is the safest antibiotic durning pregnancy... It has no side effects during pregnancy, I took it when I was 5weeks and the Dr, so the pharmacy tech advice it was safe!!!

Avatar f tn s this pregnancy, therefore I have been put on macrobid for the remaining of my pregnancy. I have to take 1 every night until I deliver. Started @32 weeks am now 35+5. No problems from it yet. I haven't had any syptoms of uti so I would never known if it weren't for the urine soles at Dr. Office.
Avatar f tn Uti or bladder infection. My doctor proscribed me macrobid. Terrified to take it, anyone else had to use this while pregnant, I'm only 8 weeks!
Avatar f tn t go away without it. Macrobid is safe during pregnancy. Having an untreated infection to on is dangerous for you and your baby. It can cause you to have a kidney infection and go septic (which is when the infection gets so bad it goes into your blood stream). Take the meds and you'll be fine!
Avatar f tn Hi Most medications are contraindicated during pregnancy especially during the first three months when the unborn child’s organs start to develop. Macrobid is safe in pregnancy after the first 2 months or 8 weeks . Continuing its use will help prevent resistance to the medications later on. A close follow up with your physician is important and just take it as indicated by the doctor. Do not take it more than the intended number of days.
Avatar f tn Drink plenty of fluids until you can see your doctor. Is there an after hours clinic in your area you can visit? Cranberry juice might help but you need to drink the REAL juice not the cranberry flavored drink since that is loaded w/ sugar and very little cranberry juice.
1088689 tn?1258173691 the only thing they found was some red blood cells in my urine. The doctor prescribed me macrobid anyways...I havent taken them yet because it has almost completely gone away. I have been gorging myself with water, so i am hoping that it was only because i was dehydrated. Any suggestions? Should I take the macrobid anyways?
Avatar n tn t know what he is doing it is possible because you are a new patient that he feels that a letter from your cardiologist is necessary for his records. There is nothing wrong in erring on the side of caution. I am sure you will be premedicated the same way.
Avatar f tn Under these circumstances where you do not have knowledge of his status I think it is better to err on the side of safety.
Avatar f tn ( and it said that late in pregnancy it caused severe jaundice that causes brain damage.. Im not going to take it anymore but i am terrified...
Avatar n tn The doctor said the results came back negative and there was a lot of water in my urine. She asked if i could be pregnant, she then ran a pregnancy test the first one came back positive and the second came back negative. She started me on Macrobid and told me to take another test. When reading the leaflet for the home pregnancy test it says antibiotics can effect the resulst so should i take the test or wait till the antibiotics are done.
Avatar f tn I was bleeding, at first I thought from my vagina, but discovered it was from my urethra, after a few doses of macrobid. I was misdiagnosed with a UTI, so there was no infection to explain the bleeding. I think it probably happens more than what is reported, because medical professionals dismiss the bleeding as resulting from the infection, not the treatment.
1932244 tn?1323292210 For this reason, you should be sure to consult with a high-risk pregnancy specialist or other experienced OB/GYN early in your next pregnancy and ideally before conception. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar f tn I would recommend you waiting till your in your second trimester to start exercising cause the baby's so small and fragile any wrong move could cause your body to try to expel the baby but it is safe as long as your body is excepting it & your comfortable don't push yourself to hard or lift to heavy I'm 25 weeks & still work out like a champ every other day
Avatar f tn I have relapsing-remitting MS and was given Macrobid for a UTI. After my first day of Macrobid, my entire left side has gone numb and i have lost function in it. I do know that the weakness and numbness in one side can be caused by the MS, but it did not occur until i took the macrobid. I was stopped from taking the macrobid and started on it 2 more times and each time the weakness returned. Is there anyway to fix this?
