Avatar f tn I suffer from anxiety and depression. My husband has Parkinson's. How can I handle his choices of driving or doing dangerous work? I can't control all his actions. He is an extremely stubborn person. To what degree am I responsible for what he chooses to do? With my health, I can't go on with this overwhelming feeling of responsibility to control his choices!! Thanks for listening and your encouraging advice and understanding.
444922 tn?1205098764 Hello. There is a new test developed by researchers ( Dr Rubio and associates) in Australia, specifically designed to screen for Parkinson's disease. It is a genetic test and screens a number of genes for Parkinson's disease. There is also a good evidence of association between Parkinson's disease and Essential tremors. Essential Tremor is considered to be a risk factor for Parkinson's disease.
Avatar f tn My mother aged 60 yrs suffering from dizziness while sitting or standing and imbalance during walking from last two months. She also sometimes has slurred speech and lack of coordination and nausea/vomiting . Her BP, hemoglobin and sugar is normal. Initially treated by a ENT specialist for 15 days and a audiogram test was also done. Test was normal with minor hearing loss in left ear. Even after 15 days of medication no improvement took place. Then she was referred to neurologist.

Avatar n tn I have for four years trying to get a diagnosis for my father and have been unsuccessful so far. One movement disorder specailist diagnosed him with Multiple System Atrophy because he did not respond to the parkinson's medicine and his heart rate was high. Another specailist disagreed and thought he might have catatonia because this all happened 4 yrs ago when my mother passed.
Avatar n tn Re my inquiry March 19th regarding a75 year old female whose head bobbed almost constantly at times, you replied it might indicate Parkinson's Disease and asked if there were any other symtons such as trembling of the hands. Trembling of the hands is not really noticeable but I did observe when she was holding a sheet of paper a slight movement.
Avatar f tn Hi Cessy and welcome to our little MS community, Diagnosis Parkinson's in a someone in their 30's would generally be classed as early onset Parkinson's and because of the rarity of Parkinson's for that age group, misdiagnoses would definitely be a possibility. I've actually read statistics that put the misdiagnosis rate as high as 1 in 5 in general for Parkinson's.
Avatar m tn I have tremors as well, memory issues and had very slow movement b4 I had surgery...as I felt I would fall going faster.... I was told my tremors could be associated with my EDS dx....have u been tested for EDS?
1763947 tn?1334055319 If it's any encouragement, my original neuro, who I recently saw on a follow up, said that there's a great deal of research out there looking for the cause of MS. He has many MS patients and keeps up on the latest. He said there are many in the field who believe it has an infectious trigger and are trying to find it, so far without success. Others are looking for a genetic basis for the immune dysfunction.
Avatar f tn I am really scared.I need to know what my chances are when it comes to Parkinson's Disease. My grandmother's sister had it and my Rheumy found a tremor in my upper body that is more severe on my right side. I also have muscle spasms in my legs. I have had pins and needles sensations in my hands and other symptoms, however since my mother told me this information about Parkinson's, I have become really anxious about the whole thing. Can someone please help??
Avatar n tn I have a family history of Schizophrenia and Parkinsons, so at the time I was very concerned I was in early stages of Parkinson's. Recently something weird has began happening, when anxious (meetings, speaking, etc.) I have noticed my voice goes VERY raspy and strained, also has a quivering tone to it. Does not do anything for my career as it sounds like I am scared sh-tless, when in reality I am just a little nervous or anxious.
Avatar f tn I provide acupuncture to some of my clients. I have never treated anyone with Parkinson's and I wouldn't know how to. However I have come across other acupuncturists who do have experience in this area and say that they have been very successful in alleviating symptoms. I can't vouch for this personally, having no first hand experience but it might be worth researching?
273955 tn?1196448802 Last year it was suggested that I have MS due to 4 lesions in my brain and a couple on my spinal cord. I have been on Betaseron for this. I have had leg numbness and tingling since last year. Evey now and then I will get other symptoms such as hand tingling, swallowing issues, pain, anxiety, etc. I am also on low dose Zoloft for the anxiety. This past week I have noticed slight trembling in my hands and some muscle twitches in my legs. Is this MS or do I have Parkinson's Disease.
Avatar f tn Head trauma can cause and exacerbate Parkinson's disease. You do not have to hit your head on an object (steering wheel, windshield) to injure the brain. Even at moderate rates of speed, traumatic brain injuries can and do occur. Three separate processes work to injure the brain: bruising (bleeding), tearing, and swelling. Parkinson's may be suspected in patients with the following symptoms: Slowness and difficulty of movement.
Avatar f tn As a long-term user of clonazepam I was curious about this, and did a quick web search. Found no information whatsoever indicating it causes Parkinson's, but there is information that people who take it get or have Parkinson's -- but this list from the FDA pretty much indicates a ton of meds are taken by people who get Parkinson's.
9745005 tn?1410044366 Parkinson's?! I am aware that Dystonia is associated with Parkinson's but there's something like 50 other primary and secondary medical explanations, that are also associated with Dystonia. Hmmmm I'm even wondering why he's saying it's specifically "slight ankle Dystonia" and not any of the alternatives eg clonus etc.
11371651 tn?1417628832 Thanks for the comment. I really hope it's not Parkinsons! At only 31 that would be devastating for me. Did your mom have a tremor? I've seen two neuro's, one was a movement disorder specialist (MDS) (specializes in things like Parkinson's) and both of them said it wasn't that and the MDS thought it might not even be neurological in nature..but who knows..I'm at the point where I just want to feel better, all this pain is putting me into a depression.
410281 tn?1254229064 Thanks all for your comments. I am on Mirapex for restless leg and periodic limb movement disorder. I actually woke up yesterday for the first time that I can even remember feeling rested. AND I didn't kick my hubby out of bed. So it must be working for that, which I am very thankful. My concern comes from the research I did on the possible relation to PLMD and Parkinson's and the other symptoms that I have been suffering for over a year now.
Avatar m tn https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11970808 is someone's habit learning ability affected by parkinson's disease? I think the comment in this link is saying that it was affected initially but they were still able to learn habits despite having Parkinson's; is that right?
Avatar f tn Yeah I went to a Parkinson's walk this morning..
Avatar m tn I have been having worsening memory and cognition issues over the past several years along with Fibro type physical symptoms. I am being treated for severe anxiety, emotion dysregulation (related to childhood traumas), depression, an eating disorder, generalized pain, exhaustion and insomnia. My Rheumatologist says my "fog" is too severe for Fibro and referred me to Neuro who ordered a sleep study and MRI. Rheum tests incl Ssdna range 0-200 u/ml w result of 605.
Avatar f tn I've had many Parkinson's Disease symptoms lately such as tremors, loss of concentration, light-headedness, feeling unbalanced when I'm standing up, and slowed movements. I'm barely turning into a teen soon and am scared to tell my parents. I don't know for sure if I do have Parkinson's because I haven't gone to the doctor about it or talked about it with my family. I would really appreciate any advice and help with this matter. Thank you.
