risperidone depression

I am 22 years old and have been taking Risperidone/Risperidal since this past February after being in psychosis. I am not biopolar or schizophrenic. For the past seven months I have been having a dull pressure feeling in my head that never goes away. Could this be from the Risperidone. I am currently on 1 mg of Risiperidone and also 20 mg of lexapro.

Have u googled the meds? I knw citalopram is for anxiety and depression. Risperidone is for mood disorder. My daughter takes them. Not sure bout the others. Google may help. Sorry couldnt be of more help. Good luck.

Hi ive been taking risperidone for 3 weeks now for social anxiety it seems to be working a little but in extreamly nervous now sence i been taking it is the medecine suppose to make me nervous im on 1 mg are u going through this please let me know.

I'm diagnosed with panic anxiety disorder and I'm in my 2nd week of new medicaments Mirtazapine (remeron) 15 mg and Risset (Risperidone) 1mg but I'm feeling so anxious and more depressed than I ever was.I'm at a break point.Before starting these medication I had my anxiety in higher levels but I could function,I was able to go out,but now I'm isolated and I don't talk to anyone for all the day,I prefer to be alone with my bad thoughts .

Risperidone is generic for Risperidal and I think it's a pretty good option for depression & psychosis. Not so much for anxiety though. It should give you a boost or make you feel energized rather than lethargic due to the increased norepinephrine plasma levels. This does not make you gain weight either. See how it goes and maybe you will be able to eliminate your antidepressant or at least decrease it.

nobody can tell. in principle it's life time. but other theories tell you if you stay stable for one whole year without any mood swings then chances are that you will not need the meds. some say 3 consecutive years without mania however since bp is in the genes, then one day you may be subject to stresses and here it is the mania occurs. so my advise keep going then if you find yourself stable you may lessen the dose, etc... no rules really exist.

My four year old grandchild/fosterchild has been to the doctor and now take meds for ADHD. Frist was riddelen that did not work at all. New medication is Risperidone. No change has been noticed. This child before meds was pooping and peeing on her bedroom floor and even after meds. Im at my end and dont understand this kind of behavior.

Can antipsychotics worsen depression? I mean giving antipsychotics to a person who has no psychotic features ?

This so new to me. I have had mild depression for about 10yr. and always relied on a med to help. Last Feb '10 my dr. put me on abilify and boy did it perk me up. however, the side effects were worse then the depression. no sleep!!! unable to concentrate, overeating, restless legs. So I stopped. I then plunged into the WORST depression and my first panic attack (lasted for 4 days) no eating,heart palpatitions, etc.

The person will have had minor bipolar symptoms going back years, as many with late-onset bipolar do. so to relieve this symptom of lack of energy (mood is not bad) CAN I KEEP REDUCING the seroquel, will it increase depression based on the assumption that seroquel is also good for depression. I fear of reducing the risperidone although there exists 0.5 mg in the market.

Previously I was on risperidone, which after a year of taking it I realized that it had completely cut off my emotions, after I tapered off of it, I saw that I got more joyful, and then when I cut it off, symptoms of mania started occurring, talking a lot, staying awake 24 hours.

My question is on tapering risperidone how long does one need to taper risperidone from a dose of 1mg to 0.5mg in days or weeks?.

From around the age of 14 til 18 I was prescribed both fluoextine and risperidone, sometimes I was on one or the other and at one point, both at the same time. Both of these were used to treat clinical depression I was suffering from at the time, I am not on either of these drugs currently. Recently however, I have been concerned that using these two drugs may have stunted my growth.

my son, 9 , was taking risperidone 1mg BID. he has missed his doses for 2 days and now came home from summercamp with signs of tardive dyskinesia. Is this because of stopping the risperidone or has the risperidone been masking the tardive dyskinesia ?

How do you manage withstand side effects of both Risperidone and Seroquel.I found even 1mg of Risperidone made me edgy,nervous and anxious.My hypomanic episode resolved in July and my Pdoc was a month late in tapering Risperidone.He started tapering process in September.In future I shall keep far away from these antipsychotics as possible.A most distasteful experience.

wow , that's some medication , over the last 10 years i've been on quiet a lot too but for the first 5 year's or so it was mainly anti-depressants and the odd anti psychotic , but they had no odea what they were treating back then, it's only been the last few years i got diagnosed properly ,but they are still not 100% sure about the Bi polar / with psychotic features or Schizoaffective , which is what they call it for now , i don't think there's a whole lot of difference

I am really happy today.Yesterday I took my last dose of Risperidone which I had been taking since the past four months and which had been tapered off by my Pdoc .I never liked this med which had numerous side effects of which I experienced some,thankfully not the worst ones.I will now only have to take my mood stabilizer which I have been taking for a number of years.

She also gets up at night and looks for things or wanders around. The consultant has prescribed risperidone, although we were hoping for Aricept. I am very concerned about this as internet research suggests it is for aggressive behaviour and will result in oversedation even drooling. I don't want my mum to be a zombie - I'd just like her to be more like her old self. Does anyone have any experience of this drug at all? I'm not going to give it to her until I learn more.

I am in full blown withdrawal symptoms from stopping risperidone with anxiety and my psychiatrist is back 5 days later.I had to stop because of side effects at 1 mg.What should I do?

s not on anything at all as well. The risperidone was started when he was hospitalized with the depression. It was my hope that they'd figure out what, if anything, else was going on beyond the ADHD and depression and could be treated accordingly. The psychiatrist there said that he displayed symptoms but not enough in one area to diagnose him beyond the ADHD. He said it could be PDD NOS, Aspergers or bi-polar disorder and we'd only know as he aged and more symptoms were present.

hello doc, im 28yrs female,i was diagnosed with paranoid psychosis 3yrs ago and has been on medication RISPERIDONE 2mg and AMISULPRIDE50mg since then.i have amenorrhea and high prolactin levels im taking treatment with Cabergoline0.5mg,now im getting my menstrual cycle but diagnosed with PCOD so im on METFORMIN 850mg.how long shd i take these antipsychotics,im planning to get pregnant.i heard tht Risperidone is not save during pregnancy plz advise me? And even sedated I started having more and more warning signs that my mania was returning. About a week ago, I started taking Risperidone after a two week break to clear out the thiothixene. During that two week cleansing, I was getting more and more manic, but still manageable. Now after a week of Risperidone, I'm completely wide open and out of control. My question is, has anyone found that Risperidone has exacerbated mania?
