655875 tn?1295695107 I was wondering about the 10,000 steps exercise program, but I'm a little confused. I was watching Dr. Oz(however, I'm not a fan) talk to this lady aout the 10,000 steps program. He stated that the 10,000 steps needed to take place at least twice a week in the same day. This sounds interesting to me, but I physically can not take the 10,000 steps without going into unbearable pain if it is done all at once.
675718 tn?1530033033 i am working the 12 steps for alcohol but i need the literature first
139792 tn?1498585650 Rather than emphasize the long-term health benefits of an exercise program -- which can be difficult to sustain -- we urge providers to focus with their patients on the immediate benefits," he says. "After just 25 minutes, your mood improves, you are less stressed, you have more energy -- and you'll be motivated to exercise again tomorrow. A bad mood is no longer a barrier to exercise; it is the very reason to exercise.

1814148 tn?1332485798 Hey everybody just wanted to check in and let my medhelp friends know that I'm on my 5th week in rehab and it's going great. I'm so blessed to have found the mental clarity needed to face a healthy recovery. I'm so excited to get home and start working my program. Hope all is well with everyone.
Avatar f tn People who take fewer than 5,000 steps are considered to be sedentary or inactive. Those who take 5,000 to 7,499 steps daily have a low active lifestyle. Somewhat active people usually take 7,500 to 9,999 steps per day. People considered to be active take 10,000 or more steps per day. About 10,000 steps is the equivalent of exercising strenuously for 30 minutes, or walking five miles per day. By following this routine, you'll expend an additional 2,000 to 3,500 calories per week.
Dinosaur I thought I could synch my FItbit with the Walgreens Steps Program, but I can't figure out how. Need help cause I think all these steps should count. Please help?
569901 tn?1233243114 A meetings and you have to make the program your life... thats the only way he reckons.... someone plz tell me this is not true....
Avatar f tn They had aa books that you can buy and the counsleor said it is a six week program and you do the twelve steps. He said aa and na follow the same twelve step program and it is $800.
Avatar f tn You are right, if you are a computer geek (a unix one at least) you'll understand when I say the pounds lost should do this: /home/user1/poundslost | /dev/null and not to /home/user2/poundsgained -- geez, I'm a geek. It's bad when you start programming your weight loss via a computer program. Too bad that doesn't work in real life. Back on track today, thus far. need to drink my water, I've kind of been slack on that.
Avatar m tn Hey what's up all, So I'm happy to say I've put 7 months of sober time together,I've had a pretty lengthy opiate addiction, finally I no longer crave my drug of choice, for many many years I was in and out of 12 step programs,I've seen 12 steps help plenty of people, but I always had great difficulty with the steps, and the rooms, until I realized its not the path for me,I chose smart recovery this time around, and it suits me better, but my 12 step friends, have told me that withou
Avatar f tn Yes write it down and anything alse realted to your drinking that you can think of to start with then go to an AA meeting and ask for help. AA saved my mother's life and she is 38 years alcohal free. It is a GREAT program. Let me know if you have any other questions or want more information about AA or the 12 step program.
1686928 tn?1355291343 t want to hear that) Since you are familiar with AlAnon, then you know the 12 steps are worked in that program, too. I have had a need for BOTH programs of support in my life (still do). Anyhoo, if you aren't able to drive to a mtg/gas, wanted to let you know both AlAnon and NarAnon (both the .org and .com) web sites have tons of support, chat rooms, online meetings, etc.
Avatar f tn Wanted to know if I can get advice from people who have worked thru the 12 Steps. Namely, I found a great Inventory of Defects and Assets for 4th Step. They say you should be able to find 24 Assets...Nooooo! I found I truly qualified for every defect....I was being brutally honest, not overly beating myself up. Appreciate any feedback. (I am hoping to get to a local meeting Friday).
Avatar f tn What is the best program for keeping clean? Is a "12 step" program a common approach?
396482 tn?1221586413 Hi. My name is Zoe and I'm an addict. I'm a member of Narcotics Anonymous and am doing the 12 Steps. I'm 7 1/2 months clean and just finishing Step 8. I no longer have the desire to use drugs or alcohol and I am extremely grateful for this precious gift/miracle. I am working on myself through the 12 Steps. I have very serene days now. Some days, however, it feels like my emotions are taking over my entire self.
Avatar f tn You may have to take baby steps at first. I have been on the suboxone program for about 18 months now. I am also in the process of starting my taper.I think the best way to do this is slow and steady. I think if you taper slow enough there wont be too many withdrawls, but I hear there are some. But then again everyone is different. I deffinately take this program serriously! It also saved my life. I give you a big high five for taking the next step to being free of opiates!!
Avatar f tn After being in the program for nearly 4 years, and coming off of a nasty relapse, I finally swollowed my pride and reached out for a sponsor. 4 years ago I didn't do this and never worked the steps. I am certain this is what lead to my relapse. I am willing to do whatever it takes to fight this battle and the people kept saying "get a sponsor" so I did. I am over the physical WD's, thank God. That is so rough. But it is so worth it.
Avatar m tn Hi there and welcome. To answer your question, I'm sure that it has helped many people but it's definetely not a cure all. Those will help your body along in repairing and replenishing what the opiates have stripped it of and they are definetely important during the withdrawls. I would even say through several months if not permenantly. That along with a good aftercare program will get you through.
1253584 tn?1332877954 You should really have a sponsor in the program who can guide you through the steps though, have you got a sponsor yet?
Avatar f tn the steps are in the NA book that you can buy online or at most meetings..both AA and NA have steps to work with their program..is there someone at ur meeting that u can ask to be ur sponsor?
Avatar f tn that is not how 12step programs work, sorry to be the one to tell you that worried, i do care about you crack is one of those drugs that can mentally drive you crazy before you relaspe working the steps is your biggest defense agaisnt that insanity idjit, do me a favor google na basic text online read a chapter or two send me a message, and let me know what you think and please stick around, this site can be a big help not a substitute for the steps, but helpful xo
