Revlimid and low dose dex

Common Questions and Answers about Revlimid and low dose dex

revlimid

Avatar m tn He has been able to walk around, but would get tired quick. After being put on the Revlimid, he also suffered from fatigue and he started to walk less and less. He also started to lose weight. After the change in doctor's, he initially started to improve; and he walked for a couple of days without a walker before falling and moving back to the walker. Eventually, the Velcade started to make matters worse for him.
Avatar f tn If the tumor was in the adrenal, then the level would be high (it would not need the ACTH to give off cortisol), and to be low just means the dex is working like it should. So a low test just has to be taken as part of the puzzle - just one of the tests - not just a single test on its own. Sadly I know a LOT of docs that run just that test and tell people that they are ok! It is low due to the dex... my best guess.
Avatar f tn 5 for a few months, they tested by cortisol with a blood draw, and it was below 0.5. Well, then I went ahead and took the correct dose of .5 (one pill), and after six weeks they tested me again, and I'M STILL at the same low reading. Therefore, seems like this dex is SUPRESSING my cortisol, which is the exact opposite of what I need. Ye gads. Thanks for anything anyone can tell me that will help on this dex issue.
Avatar f tn I would do this slowly - and carefully - and drop down to the smallest dex dose you can tolerate before you wean - that will help as dex has a long half life.
905502 tn?1245176370 I was very concerned about taking decadron for the suppression test, but I figured I needed an answer and in spite of my apprehension I started the doses. By the 7th dose .5 every 6 hours for 48 hours, I was feeling great. No more aches, I felt I could breath better and I had more energy than I have had in a long time. It is now the 2nd day of no dose and I'm starting to get achy, neck and lower back pain, and breathing is OK. Why was I feeling so much better? Is this significant?
905502 tn?1245176370 You were feeling better because the steroids made you feel better and now, the steroid withdrawal makes you feel rotten. It is normal however to make you feel rotten - what a great test, huh? It is also a very unrealiable test. I had Cushing's disease and I suppressed on every level on dex test and dex-crh tests yet I still had Cushing's. So did a lot of people I know. I hope your doctor does not use this as a test of exclusion.
Avatar n tn The dex test is ... well, I know hundreds of people that have taken it. BTW the result you would want is only 1.8! The range is not printed at the lab. I know in my case and in many others, I suppressed and I had pituitary source and that is consistent with what the test means. However the doctor may take the suppression as a test of exclusion or as adrenal source. Cushing's cannot be diagnosed with one test or one set nor can the source be found easily so you really need to see an expert.
Avatar f tn Generally I (who was on HC for 18 mths at various levels) suggest to stagger the dose and to take nothing after say 4pm or perhaps 5pm. Any dose after that time will interupt your sleep.
Avatar f tn s advice and get the Dex out of your system - stop taxing Dex for 2 weeks - before testing for cortisol. And test it at 8am and 5pm the same day. Whatever the tests show will give you more information so that you can have further investigations along the right lines. While you're testing for cortisol check your other hormones as well.
Avatar m tn My PCP felt the TCN was causeing low vitamen D and Thyroid readings on my blood test so that is why we tryed lowering the dose- the Vitamen D and thyroid is good now but infections more common. I have appoinments to get them all working together maybe a smaller dose taken regularly is the answer .
Avatar f tn Hello. I have recently been prescribed zoloft and dextroamfetamine (vyvanse). My dose has just been raised to 150 zoloft and 50 vyvanse. I am feeling dizzy, I'm sweating like crazy lying down in a cold room, and I've thrown up a few times since I took the increased dosages earlier today. Occasionally it feels like my heart has butterfly wings too. Am I just having panic attacks? I heard the dex can increase anxiety... I don't have insurance here...
765439 tn?1292960414 Columbia obviously used it as a test of exclusion. I failed all dex tests (low dow, high dose, etc.) and still was Cushingoid - I know lots of people in that boat. From what I see, it does not appear there is a stim test here. As for the low chloride - I have that constantly. I was told it was not low enough to be a factor. This is from a website:"Decreased levels of blood chloride (called hypochloremia) occur with any disorder that causes low blood sodium.
1541754 tn?1294331420 Maybe this means that the dose of Dexedrine you are taking at the moment is still too low. If you think of Dexedrine as being like Nicotine, then taking a higher dose of Dex should help to reduce your craving for cigarettes? Say that you are taking 40mg of Dexedrine a day for your ADHD and with this you are still experiencing a constant, heavy craving cigarettes throughout the day.
Avatar n tn 79), B12=334, Monocytes low, eosinophils low, ANA negative, Rheumatoid negative, all other CBC and chem profiles are normal... including ferritin 33.4, folic acid 12.77 and iron binding cap 316.3. My most devestating symptom is the brain fog and fatigue. I have also had a cortisol test 26.2 high and then an overnight dedadron suppression test where cortisol level suppressed to point 9 (.9) low....which was good according to my MD.
686332 tn?1301255019 When I stop taking it I sleep for two days straight and am so tired and hungry. I dont get any euphoria from dex. The come down is also harsh for me. In the early years when I was taking 65 mg a day-I worked-cleaning,gardening,rollerblading for 7 hours at a time and took long hikes to collect rocks.I started craft projects-I would rearrange and stare at my rocks for hours and hours. I no longer work hard or do anything productive on dex.
Avatar f tn I am 28 years old and have been experiencing anovulation. After extensive testing I was diagnosed with 21-hydroxylase deficiency. I have chronically high progesterone (ranging from 3-40). I was started on dexamethasone and have had success with reducing progesterone. The problem is now I am in adrenal suppression with morning cortisol >.1. I have been lowering my dose of dex but have not seen much improvement in improvement in cortisol levels. Has anyone had similar problems?
765439 tn?1292960414 There are several types - low dose etc. - you can look them up. Make sure you take the dex at the right time and get the draws at the right time.
Avatar m tn If it were I, I might try eliminating the last dose of dexamphetamine. That is, if I could not get to the drugstore and buy more melatonin.
Avatar f tn This time, we took the test the right way, with no caffeine, no steroids (had to work off them and stay off them for two weeks to get the test done, and that was tough.) This time, my 24-urine cortisol was low-it was 3, with him saying 5 was low-normal, and that it could account for pain and fatigue, because the body wasn’t healing well, but he mostly blew it off and said it wasn't 'low enough' to cause problems.
5143317 tn?1383747820 I'm not sure where to ask this, but I'm awaiting the results of an overnight Dex test. The doctor did not tell me and I didn't think to ask, but the test was done not fasting. Will this affect the results?
Avatar f tn When I try and take my dog (Dex) for a walk, within a few minutes he begins making a coughing noise. The first few gags/coughs are usually not 'productive', but then he will start spitting/coughing up clear spit more often than not. Generally this is the worst at the beginning of the walk, and generally settles down about 20 minutes in.
Avatar f tn The dex has been great for Improving my focus, has stopped my excessive day dreaming ( I used to walk around with my head phones in and dance and day dream for hours and hours) has improved my work life and I am actually organised for the first time in my life.
6768278 tn?1384677782 I take 15-20mg HC (when I take HC, and most times I forget my 5mg afternoon dose), and I alternate with dex 5mg (or 2.5 since it lasts so long) to suppress my tumor pumping out ACTH. If I start to feel lousy, or if I am traveling a bit, I pop 2.5 to 5mg HC and see how that goes for me. I double if I have a fever over 100 or got sick once. If you only doubled one day, in general, you can go back to normal the next day. Other wise you may have to taper over a couple of days.
Avatar f tn First positives were a 24 hr UFC 164 (3 weeks post abdominal surgery)((range 10 to 80)), and serum cortisol of 4 post 11pm low dose Dex suppression (range 5-25). I have also completed two 11pm salivary swabs, no results yet, and I've also done another dex suppression, this time it was .5mg every 6 hours for 48hrs followed by 24 hr urine catch, no results yet. I am beginning to think the ACTH test is useless unless it was taken with a serum cortisol.
