Yes, I've worn a Holter for 24 hours just this past week, and it showed my average pulse at 57 with a very few arrhythmias over the 24 hour period. My doctor is happy with my lower heart rate (ie., 57) and I'm not happy with ED. Ostensibly I've been taking Toprol XL for my BP which is now running @104/75 to 120/79. I have had a recent (this month) physical from my PCP and my PSA is 1.0, with testosterone at 770... so prostate doesn't appear to be a problem.
Toprol XL is a slow release medication designed to deliver dose over 24 hour time period and it takes a week or so for the blood level to stabilize to achieve effect. It shouldn't make any difference when you take it as long as it is the same time each day. Have you discussed this problem with your doctor..perhaps a lower dosage or try another beta blocker. I take 100 mg/day and don't notice any side effects, but drug response is variable.
I've got severe RLS 24/7 and have been taking Requip for the past several years, Mirapex before that. It's gotten worse lately so the doctor had me go cold turkey 5 days ago. He gave me Klonopin to take at night, but it doesn't do anything other than make me even more tired. I managed to get 6 hours sleep on day 4, but that's it for the whole week. The doctor says that I can't go back on the dopamines (Requip) since they have started augmentation (making the RLS worse).
RLS is hell as you dread going to bed, you dread movies, you dread airplanes as you know that your legs will instantly start to ache and you will have the compulsion to constantly move them to relieve the discomfort. Requip takes about an hour to work but it all depends on how your day was (ie, diet, exercise, stress levels, etc.) as to whether you will get complete relief or not.
Also, another thyroid question - looking into increasing my calcium and VitD intake with supplements.
About three weeks ago i started having panic attacks... since then i have occasional panic attacks but now suffer from severe anxiety... im scared to death right now though because i keep getting bad chest pains that wont go away. They are always under my left breast and towards the middle of my chest... ive gone to the hospital because of this pain and they did an EKG... they said the EKG came back normal...
The urine, no. Blood test is for PT-PTT, your ability to clot. If you are way,way slow on clotting they will choose a method besides needle biopsy or delay it.
Well, I'm wearing a 24 hr EKG monitor. They took me off the requip and said it could be as simple as that medication. But they are doing lots of tests. Thanks for your help.
I was very recently prescribed Wellbutrin XL, after trying several medications that have not helped [including Wellbutrin SR]. When I saw my doctor, she simply said 'I'm putting you on Wellbutrin twice daily' and I assumed it would be the SR. But what I was given was XL, with the instructions to take it twice a day [morning and around noon]. My doctor's office is closed today, or I would have asked her. I did ask the pharmacist, and he said that yes, this is okay.
It's possible that you have a real medical issue with RLS and if that's the case Requip works great and it's not addictive!
On the other hand if it does have something to do with w/d's then I would suggest eating bananas as they really do help.
If the bananas don't work after a few days then I would go to your doctor and tell him what's going on with your legs and he will probably give you the Requip. I'm currently taking it and with no side effects at all.
I had a stress test and echo done and everything came back normal. I did a 24 hour monitor and I am waiting for results to that. I should also add that I get random bouts of being lightheaded. My blood pressure is normal by the way and so is mu sugar. I am getting scared about it but so far they have found nothing. Has anyone else been experiencing this?
I experienced problems similar to yours starting last October when a 24 hour Holter recorded 24,608 SVE beats in 24 hours or almost 30% of all beats. I went through the normal treatment of Toperal and Rythmol for over six months. The Meds helped but did not prevent the SVE, and the side effects were causing problems for me.
Thursday, July 9th, I went through the ablation procedure.
After a 24 hr holter monitor the results were 23,432 ventricular ectopic beats. 46 superventricular beats. average heart rate 68 BPM minumum 53 BPM. No ST segmental changes were noted. ST segment analysis on each EKG channel. The total time of ST depression >2mm over baseline was 0.8. QTC interval is normal. There were 0 pauses of 2.5 seconds. Frequent uniform ventricular ectopic beats are noted. A prescription for Toprol XL 12.5 mg issued.
Wellbutrin XL is a time released medication lasting 12 to 24 hours depending on which one you are on. You do not want to chew this medication as it could cause other problems. Tell your brother that this medication could make him very sick. It is not perscribe for him. It is not a recreational drug. If your afraid your brother may take them, hide them where he can't find them.
our father who is 78 is starting to hallucinate he was hospitalized about a month ago for pneumonia.he was also taking requip for his restless legs,the doc. took him off of requip because of side affects 4 days ago. we dont know if that could be the cause of his condition or not,he also had a cat scan of the brain, it was normal.he sees people that are not there, he realizes later that it is not real. he is getting depressed and scared,we dont know what to do anymore.
Well, if you are hyper and feel hyperactive this would increase it. I also suffer horribly from RLS and I take Requip for it. Right now I am mildly hypermanic from the bipolar and mine are about to drive me insane.
If you will lay in bed and read for 30 minutes and not get up just lay there and go to sleep--I can't do this have to get up and pee before I can go to sleep--it releases something in your brain that is suppose to stop the transmission that makes them do that.
2 months later, dyskinesia occurred in tongue/jaw, drooling returned. Sinemet dosage then was decreased to 2 per day 25/250 (9am, 2pm), Requip 0.125 (9pm). Dyskinesia improved. 1.5 month ago, teeth grinding started day and night. She is now taking 3 per day sinemet 25/175, 25/175, 25/100 (9 am, 1pm, 5:30pm), and Requip 0.125 every other day(9pm). Teeth grinding improved 50% at least (5:30pm sinemet uses low dosage because it looks like impact her falling into sleep even with Rozerem.
