Several more on Mirapex, now transitioning to Requip. None of these are without potential side effects. My current sleep doctor feels that Sinemet, a dopamine replacement, should be reserved for use after dopamine agonists such as Requip and Mirapex are no longer useful.
I can give you a few hints on optimizing the effectiveness of your Sinemet rather than keep raising dose: No protein to eat unless long enough before dose for the food to have already passed thru the small intestine.
Also take ativan 1mg 3 x daily since brain surgery, and 1-2 at night for help with sleep. Every other sleep aid made morning "miseries"symptoms worse. Tapered Requip withdrawal while adding Sinemet. Right now taking 1/2 afternoon and 1 at night. Previous side effects have abated somewhat. But offers little help with night RLS. NO help with bad waking. Horrible to go back to where I was after those months of peaceful nights and NORMAL waking. Any help welcome.
our father who is 78 is starting to hallucinate he was hospitalized about a month ago for pneumonia.he was also taking requip for his restless legs,the doc. took him off of requip because of side affects 4 days ago. we dont know if that could be the cause of his condition or not,he also had a cat scan of the brain, it was normal.he sees people that are not there, he realizes later that it is not real. he is getting depressed and scared,we dont know what to do anymore.
requip during the day and 2 mg. requip at night along with klonopin and other sleep aids. I just split my head open walking around the house unawares. 6 stiches and broken lamps. I asked my doc about early onset of parkinson's.........is this what they go thru? I haven't slept a 7 hour night in at least 8 years. No bs. Usually I sleep 2-4 hours. I'm trying to get some barbituates from overseas because I'm so desperate. Gosh, I could relate to you.
She is currently in dosage of 25/150, 25/150, 25/100, and around 0.16 requip before sleep together with Rozerem 8mg and Zyprexa 1.25 mg. (I forgot to mention Zyprexa in previous post)
But strangest thing is she becomes much more difficulty in falling and staying asleep. In theory, if the dyskinesia/teeth grinding went away, she should feel much better and more easier to get into sleep. But it does not.
What that is trough out time the body and mind give out due to bad sleep hygiene plus stress buildup.What i suggest you do is create a sleep diary and take notes on day to day basis and try to isolate when the problem occurs. And another good method would be video tape yourself to see how you are when you are asleep.
They drive fast and aggressively, taking risks, not looking when they change lanes. I myself feel out of sorts, dizzy and sleep badly, even though I have sleep apnea and use a Cpap it always difficult. All I have to do is look out the window and sure enough the moon is full. On full moon nights my circulation is sluggish too. I know that the moon pulls the tides so it also affects your emotions and blood circulation, no kidding!
Today was my big 10! I feel great. I do still have my rls but I take Requip at night and it makes me sleep like a baby! Ready to watch some titans football tonight and leave for Florida vacation in two weeks!
I HAVE RLS FOR MANY YEARS AND I AM ON 3MG REQUIP AND 1 MG KLONPIN, THAT HAS BEEN HELPING UP TO NOW. I DISCOVERED THAT MY THYROID IS VERY LOW. COULD THAT BE WHY MY RLS IS GETTING WORSE. I REALLY NEED SOME SLEEP!!! WHAT OTHER MEDS ARE HELPFUL. I REALLY HAVE ALOT OF PAIN IN MY LEGS ALSO. THANKS FOR AMY HELP.

Sounds like you have RLS ( Restless Leg Syndrome). If it feels like you cannot strech your legs enough, your legs jerk at night, can't control them and so forth. They can do a sleep study on you to detect this. I take requip every evening before I go to sleep and it is sooooo helpful.
Ask about it with you physician or neurologist. RLS cannot be detected by eeg or any other study but only by a sleep study.

This is what caused me to start taking them again, I could not handle, was scared I would have a heart attack from no sleep and the constant restless legs and arms!!! Please pray for me and my family. thank you.
Has anybody had success with requip? If so, what dosage of requip worked for you? They have .25, .5, 1.0, and 2.0.
Do you take the medicine at night only or during the day too?
I really appreciate your help. I made it 14 days off hydros last year, but the RLS was agonizing and I gave in. I want to do EVERYTHING I can to help ease this upcoming hell.
all took requip for restless legs Valium for anxiety and clonidine for blood pressure and morphine for pain 30mg god help all of us and god touch our minds
The only relief I get is with Requip. I have to keep it in my system. Of course I stay drowsy all the time and have occasional nausea. I have tried other drugs but none have worked. My neurologist said that they are from lesions in my spinal cord. My question is: has any one else experienced this and have they found relief from other means without the bad side effects? The jerking movements are very violent and I feel desperate at times. Please help if you can.
Been pretty good besides two sleepless night do to restless leg. Went to doctor today and gave me requip for that so we will see how tonight goes. Best of luck to everyone out there! Say a prayer every chance you get for me!
I have taken 3 baths, laid in the floor with an electric blanket and heating pad wrapped around my leg. I just took my 2nd Requip pill for the night. Slathered my leg with the cream I bought.
What usually works is not. If this would go away I would fall asleep like that. Right now I am holding my leg straight up in the air. I am so tired.
Just whining. This is killing me. Plus I am sneezing tons and really gassy. Stomach is fine.
I went off of the sub about a month ago, had about two weeks of hell with the RLS, made an appointment with a different doc in the same clinic and he felt that taking Requip for 14 days and the other sleep aids should have worked by then. He felt there was nothing left to do but put me on oxycontin CR, it has worked well but i already feel like i need more.... I am not sure what to do now i am already dependent on the oxy. Any ideas from the the group that has been through everything.
I am so happy for you!! YEAH!!! What medication did they put you on? My internest wants to do a sleep test on me....i told her i wanted to wait a while.
