Avatar f tn Also take ativan 1mg 3 x daily since the brain surgery, and 1-2 at night for help with sleep. Every other sleep aid made above symptoms worse. Did tapered Requip withdrawal while adding the sinemet.  Right now taking  1/2 afternoon and 1 at night.Offers little help with night RLS. None with bad waking.  Horrible to go back to where I was after those months of peaceful nights and NORMAL waking. Any help welcome.

Tapered Requip withdrawal while adding Sinemet. Right now taking 1/2 afternoon and 1 at night. Previous side effects have abated somewhat. But offers little help with night RLS. Avatar f tn our father who is 78 is starting to hallucinate he was hospitalized about a month ago for pneumonia.he was also taking requip for his restless legs, the doc. took him off of requip because of side affects 4 days ago. we dont know if that could be the cause of his condition or not,he also had a cat scan of the brain, it was normal.he sees people that are not there, he realizes later that it is not real. he is getting depressed and scared,we dont know what to do anymore.
Avatar f tn I've got severe RLS 24/7 and have been taking Requip for the past several years, Mirapex before that. It's gotten worse lately so the doctor had me go cold turkey 5 days ago. He gave me Klonopin to take at night, but it doesn't do anything other than make me even more tired. I managed to get 6 hours sleep on day 4, but that's it for the whole week. The doctor says that I can't go back on the dopamines (Requip) since they have started augmentation (making the RLS worse).
Avatar n tn been off trammadol for 11 days been real hard to sleep took ambiem and requip slept like ababy but now afraid of another addiction the requip iwill always have to take whole family has it(rls).my plan is take 3/4 two nights plus one melatonin then 1/2 two nights 1 melatonin then be on just melatonin .my question am i prolonging the day iwill sleep on my own or should istay cold turkey ifeel like it will never end.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Requip for RLS, which I had so bad with my Tramadol withdrawal, I would rock and bounce for hours during both the day and night. I had RLS for at least 6 hours or more a day for almost a month. I took the Requip for the first 40 days, now I take it 2x a week. My doc said after I hit 2 months or more off the opiates, we can talk about me jumping off the Requip all together.
Avatar n tn 30pm sinemet uses low dosage because it looks like impact her falling into sleep even with Rozerem. She used to be able to fall into sleep quickly when took 25/100, but cannot for increased dosage). The strangest is motion: In morning, right after get up but BEFORE sinemet, her walking is steady, no difficult stepping out, speed is slow but ok, no sign of dyskinesia (or not noticeable) Around 1.
Avatar n tn I would just like to add that I read something about Sleep Paralysis. But at no point during these did I have any hallucinations.
649926 tn?1297657780 They better not take it away w/out a replacement! I'm doing better w/my sleep, knocking on wood. Thank you for asking. I'm not on anything for it right now and hope to stay that way. I don't get a lot, but even 6 or 7 hrs is a true blessing. I feel your pain - it's just so horrible - walking around like a zombie all day everyday whether it's halloween or not - seriously, nothing good comes of it. I pray everything works out someway for you....
Avatar f tn Just gave 2 excedrine pm.. Does anyone know how much Requip needed?
Avatar f tn I HAVE RLS FOR MANY YEARS AND I AM ON 3MG REQUIP AND 1 MG KLONPIN, THAT HAS BEEN HELPING UP TO NOW. I DISCOVERED THAT MY THYROID IS VERY LOW. COULD THAT BE WHY MY RLS IS GETTING WORSE. I REALLY NEED SOME SLEEP!!! WHAT OTHER MEDS ARE HELPFUL. I REALLY HAVE ALOT OF PAIN IN MY LEGS ALSO. THANKS FOR AMY HELP.
Avatar n tn My RLS is in high gear about 4 days before and 4 days after the full moon. I had been on Requip for about 2 years and although it was helpful, those 8 days the medication did not seem to help. My health care company decided that Requip is no longer a formulary drug,so I have switched to benztropine. Unfortunately, I had to switch during the last full moon and really did not get but a couple hours of sleep for 3 days.
Avatar f tn I do still have my rls but I take Requip at night and it makes me sleep like a baby! Ready to watch some titans football tonight and leave for Florida vacation in two weeks!
Avatar m tn Hi Ashfaq762, Sounds like you have RLS ( Restless Leg Syndrome). If it feels like you cannot strech your legs enough, your legs jerk at night, can't control them and so forth. They can do a sleep study on you to detect this. I take requip every evening before I go to sleep and it is sooooo helpful. Ask about it with you physician or neurologist. RLS cannot be detected by eeg or any other study but only by a sleep study. All the best!
398059 tn?1447945633 Then no reading in bed for at least an hour before sleep. No lights on in the house for the hour before ( this works for me ) I was told it's really a half before bed.. to start calming ones environment down . NO caffeine after noon time ..very important for me.. They say a warm bath an hour or two before bed because it will lower your body temp. by bedtime , which is conducive to zzzz. But watch it if you have MS , not too hot .. Also lower the house temp. for sleep. Add a blanket.
1390101 tn?1281000559 Have you tried Requip for the RLS? I ask because I started Sub 4 months ago and still have RLS and my doc said it could be something I will have the rest of my life, and suggested Requip but I have yet to try it. Congrats on not going back to the Mirapex, and also on controlling the gambling addiction! Are you getting any outside help for this ie; counseling? My Dad had a gambling addiction for years and bet and lost the "farm" more times than I can remember.
Avatar f tn meds are available for both sleep and rls.....read the Thomas Recipe and the Amino Acid Profile and follow them....they work. It wont be a bed of roses, but the bad part will take from 4-7 days of fluish symptoms and then get better and better.......ask more questions if you have them....magnesium/calcium and things can be added to bathwater to help with rls - and the supplements will also help. Some others are quite good at helping sleep issues.........
Avatar n tn Has anybody had success with requip? If so, what dosage of requip worked for you? They have .25, .5, 1.0, and 2.0. Do you take the medicine at night only or during the day too? I really appreciate your help. I made it 14 days off hydros last year, but the RLS was agonizing and I gave in. I want to do EVERYTHING I can to help ease this upcoming hell.
Avatar n tn all took requip for restless legs Valium for anxiety and clonidine for blood pressure and morphine for pain 30mg god help all of us and god touch our minds
445838 tn?1205786577 Natural Calm with calcium helps as does eating lots of bananas. Melatonin for sleep, up to 10mg. Wrapping your legs in an ace bandage and a heating pad also helps. HOT baths with 1-2 cups Epsom salts helps too. Taking long walks helps.
Avatar n tn I have had MS for a long time but was just diagnosed in 1999. I now have secondary progressive. Approximatly 6 months ago, I started having jerking movements in my legs. They can last for several hours and occur any time during the day or night. They occur every day and all the time. The only relief I get is with Requip. I have to keep it in my system. Of course I stay drowsy all the time and have occasional nausea. I have tried other drugs but none have worked.
1154672 tn?1262222616 I felt the affect of being goofy and my speech slurring, but still no sleep. I called again today, and she gave me a prescription for Requip (since there is a generic for it, and is less expensive than Mirapex). She started me on the starter pack. I take 1/2 of a .25 mg tablet for 4 days @ bedtime, then 1 full .50 tablet for 4 days @ bedtime, finally then 2 tablets 1 mg after that. I am concerened that since I have been taking 1 mg of Mirapex, that the dose of Requip won't be enough.
691935 tn?1421027090 Sorry you can't sleep; Panadol may help with the legs (Panadol became my magic drug for aches during tx and, despite my liver condition, my specialist said to take up to 6 per day if I needed to for leg pain, which I did but only a couple of times). I ended up with a script for sleeping pills, but not before trying a lot of other things. Chamomile tea actually did help (thank you Medhelp), and so did night snacks.
Avatar f tn Been pretty good besides two sleepless night do to restless leg. Went to doctor today and gave me requip for that so we will see how tonight goes. Best of luck to everyone out there! Say a prayer every chance you get for me!
Avatar f tn Merri, I had RLS before I was on the pills also. The dr. gave me a script for requip. Its for Parkinson. That works wonders for me. It didn't get rid of it completely while going thru WDs but it finely kicked in. Now I'm not bothered with it anymore. I'm 7 months clean today.
