I'm glad you found something that worked. RLS was the worst for me too. Ropinirole is sold in the US as Requip. It was originally prescribed for Parkinson' Disease and then it was discovered that it works for RLS. Keep going forward. It will be over soon.
s and put me on Requip. But I do have an appointment at the Henry Ford Clinic in Detroit, MI on the Neurology Unit for a 7-10 day stay consisting of a 7 day EEG and other tests. They are going to take me off my epilepsy medications, and all medications and see what my brain does off everything. That's why I need to be hospitalized to do it because the risks are very high or reactions to that. But, at least they will hopefully be able to rule things out or get to the root of things.

our father who is 78 is starting to hallucinate he was hospitalized about a month ago for pneumonia.he was also taking requip for his restless legs,the doc. took him off of requip because of side affects 4 days ago. we dont know if that could be the cause of his condition or not,he also had a cat scan of the brain, it was normal.he sees people that are not there, he realizes later that it is not real. he is getting depressed and scared,we dont know what to do anymore.

Requip which is what its called here in the US is Amazing for Restless legs...Its given to people with parkinson disease but for some reason they released it to people that have restless legs syndrome... If you can get your DR to prescribe it...is Quinnine a psychotic drug, or like the old qualude lol im not sure ive heard of it..Im in day 4 of my detox from oxys and morphine..im tired of trying to find them in florida, and I went to a detox once before, and I wont go back there..

Hello, I was diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease and besides all the related symptoms with Lyme the one that worries me so much is the tingling feeling in my arm and my hand shaking, can this be parkinson disease? I started taking Requip last year for RLS. I just happen to mention to my doctor that I had leg pain during the night. She had given me a trial pack but left it at home when I went to my daughters for the weekend. I had only been taking it a few days and when I didn't have it to take I thought i was dying. It is like I am addited to this drug. I can't come off of it. I have started having shooting pains in my legs and find that I am having to take it more often.

Since I already have RLS, will I have to look forward to an increase in the severity of my RLS??? I am very worried. I take Requip (ropinirole) for RLS but it is not a total relief of it. RLS is hell as you dread going to bed, you dread movies, you dread airplanes as you know that your legs will instantly start to ache and you will have the compulsion to constantly move them to relieve the discomfort.
Has anybody had success with requip? If so, what dosage of requip worked for you? They have .25, .5, 1.0, and 2.0.
Do you take the medicine at night only or during the day too?
I really appreciate your help. I made it 14 days off hydros last year, but the RLS was agonizing and I gave in. I want to do EVERYTHING I can to help ease this upcoming hell.
My current sleep doctor feels that Sinemet, a dopamine replacement, should be reserved for use after dopamine agonists such as Requip and Mirapex are no longer useful.
I can give you a few hints on optimizing the effectiveness of your Sinemet rather than keep raising dose: No protein to eat unless long enough before dose for the food to have already passed thru the small intestine. Small amout of starchy food food can help when taking med, but no large amounts of food before taking the med.
