Requip and weight loss

Common Questions and Answers about Requip and weight loss

requip

Avatar f tn My current sleep doctor feels that Sinemet, a dopamine replacement, should be reserved for use after dopamine agonists such as Requip and Mirapex are no longer useful. I can give you a few hints on optimizing the effectiveness of your Sinemet rather than keep raising dose: No protein to eat unless long enough before dose for the food to have already passed thru the small intestine. Small amout of starchy food food can help when taking med, but no large amounts of food before taking the med.
Avatar m tn Imagine someone thinking that you have G-d forbid cancer, with the significant weight loss. Oh well just wanted to add my comments to the board and if anyone has any questions or comments feel free to respond.
Avatar f tn It sounds like you have been diagnosed with RLS and requip worked for you well until it was determined to be causing side effects, and you were switched to Sinemet. One known side effect of Requip is swelling in the legs; it sounds like you had an extensive evaluation for all the symptoms you began experiencing after January 2008. Sinemet works well for RLS symptoms, but has a higher risk of eventually causing what is called augmentation, or the occurrence of symptoms earlier in the day.
867787 tn?1318936230 Hi Tammy Pleased that the dr has done something, you sure are on alot i was last yr and then i decided to come off some as they were not helping and i found that some were even giving me sx i am on baclofen now for spasm and that is good and reducing my morphine patches i am on a antidepressant as they say sometimes it helps you cope with pain but the neuro said i had fibro so they often do that i have to say the cymbaltar is used alot for fibromyalgia so maybe your PCP thinks its that, its use
Avatar n tn It is supposed to be worse after long night without sinemet (requip 0.125 is given every other night and no significant distinguish between with and without it) Sinemet suppose to make motion better and it DID make her better before. Or Dyskinesia completely overridden others (but the Dyskinesia is happened in the jaw/tongue and I don't see any tremor in legs/feet) I tried to find a logic explanation, but no luck! Can this imply sinemet is no good for her anymore?
415867 tn?1323365503 In fact, Meridia, a weight-loss drug, is an SNRI. Another SNRI, Effexor, has no weight-loss properties, but it is an antidepressant. This shows that tiny changes in chemical structure can have big effects on the brain. I take Wellbutrin which is a SNRI, I have no loss of sex drive what so ever, and while I have put on weight I don't think it is related to the drug. I think it is related to my eating habits in that I eat crap all the time and need to knock that out of my diet.
Avatar f tn Which ones do not make you gain weight? And being on seroquel (spell?) counter reacted with my requip, which I take for restless leg syndrom. My depression is bad, but gets worse with weigh gain, so I stop it.And believe me, I would much rather suffer with depression than have my requip not work. Then I'm up all night walking. HELP!!!
Avatar f tn Dear Kat, I do know that taking Requip itself can cause hallucinations. But he's been taken off it. Now, stopping Requip can cause confusion. So, I don't know what to make of it. I do recall when I had pneumonia, I was out of my mind, and I have never taken Requip. I suppose it's possible he's having a combination of fever hallucinations, left-over Requip hallucinations, and withdrawal confusion. Any way you look at it, he's having a very hard time.
Avatar n tn I took requip for about five years - worked, no problem. Then about 4 months ago, I started getting, out of the blue and for no obvious reason, anorexia, nausea, and finally light stomach ache. After a lot of investigative stuff, including an EGD, my gastroenterologist discovered the cause: I had become allergic to requip. Just a note of caution.
Avatar n tn I got back up from my normal Endo and he told me my weight is dropping now that the thyroid is medicated properly but sleep could have been effecting my weight as well. I was not eating more, but he said when you don't sleep your hormones get mixed up causing weight around the middle. I highly suggest a sleep study or at least a consultation with a sleep doc. I believe it is going to change everything for me.
1257808 tn?1322762215 Meds that increase dopamine in the brain are known to help (I know about Requip as an option) and calcium channel blockers seem to help. Sometimes they give muscle relaxers too. I'd try to stay away from sleep aids and/or opioids but they are also used. Also do all the usual things to promote good sleep such as avoiding caffeine, getting regular exercise, having good sleep habits, regular bed times, etc. https://www.mayoclinic.
514273 tn?1311609635 The plan was to always go CT from here. I only bought 3 Subs off the streets and threw away the person's contact info as soon as possible. Because of my addictive nature, it was the best course of action. It was a very restless night, but very manageable compared to previous attempts. I'm in the office and i can't keep my legs from shaking and these dang hot flashes and cold sweats keep coming and going.
1390101 tn?1281000559 Have you tried Requip for the RLS? I ask because I started Sub 4 months ago and still have RLS and my doc said it could be something I will have the rest of my life, and suggested Requip but I have yet to try it. Congrats on not going back to the Mirapex, and also on controlling the gambling addiction! Are you getting any outside help for this ie; counseling? My Dad had a gambling addiction for years and bet and lost the "farm" more times than I can remember.
Avatar f tn that only means 2 hours after I take thyroid, but I also read on synthroid list not to take calcium for 4 hrs after taking synthroid. I take one caplet in am and one in pm for calcium, and 600 mg calcium and 400 D.
Avatar n tn Afterr four weeks severe anxiety returned becoming worse each day for five days. I quit the Requip at that point and felt 80% reduction of that severe anxiety each morning, so that after 3 days off Requip, I felt great. But the sixth and seventh day I became extremely nervous, excitable, too overreactive to ANY stimuli.
Avatar n tn Trying to taper off and get off opiates, morphine and oxy. can clonidine be taken at the same time to help with not having as much of the opiates? and help with the withdrawls?
Dog Besides Mirapex, the other medications that are approved to treat Restless Legs Syndrome are Neurontin, Requip and Neupro. I recommend speaking to your doctor about these medications to see if one may be appropriate for you.
620048 tn?1358018235 My pulmomologist gave me ropinirole (Requip) because i have so much movement in my limbs, especially my feet, when I am sleeping and when I am awake too. I was looking up the drug and i found this side effect........ 'Some people using ropinirole have developed a gambling habit. It is not known whether ropinirole actually causes this effect. Talk with your doctor if you believe you have an unusual urge to gamble while you are taking ropinirole.
Avatar f tn requip during the day and 2 mg. requip at night along with klonopin and other sleep aids. I just split my head open walking around the house unawares. 6 stiches and broken lamps. I asked my doc about early onset of parkinson's.........is this what they go thru? I haven't slept a 7 hour night in at least 8 years. No bs. Usually I sleep 2-4 hours. I'm trying to get some barbituates from overseas because I'm so desperate. Gosh, I could relate to you.
Avatar n tn m totally becoming homeless and the doctors are trying to find me any relief. Requip and gapapintin is what I been on for years and other types including patches Nupro to little help and now Requip is to little help and a couple hours of sleep night after night I worry is this. I'm off work do to showing positive COVID-19 with that being said you see I'm battling some difficult things.
Avatar f tn There are healthy ways to lose weight and that could be discussed in the specific forum but obtaining a nutrionist is best and Weight Watchers good as well but avoid weight loss products. Most are unhealthy or useless. And products with Nutrasweet should be avoided as well as that can worsen depression (as some studies show). Replace all sugared drinks with flavored seltzer water for starters. That worked for me.
Avatar n tn hi there lovely ladies! ok this may seem a bit of a rant, but I am so frustrated!
